Nowhere near there... I'm in southwestern Ontario. About 2 hours from Detroit. As for that area, they've got AWESOME accents, especially the newfies. The only real French spoken in Canada is south of Newfoundland in Quebec (and northern Ontario -- Ottawa -- that borders Quebec). Otherwise you will find very few people who can speak French.

I actually just started re-learning French a couple weeks ago. Learned (learning, really) Spanish for the past couple years. French and Spanish are so similar that my prior French knowledge really helped me to learn Spanish. I'm not sure what's next... to go with another similar language like Portugese or Italian or something different. German, Japanese, Mandarin? I don't know. It'll be at least a year before I decide which to do next.
 
My sister is marrying a guy from Northern Quebec, and I think that his parents pretty much only speak French. The guy is in the army and just got transfered to the East for a while.
