The (im)possible mission of an Italian cook's daughter

Venice girl

New member
Hi everybody,
I'm new on this site, and I thought that a good way to start my journey towards 65 kilograms was to begin my own online diary.
I'm a 21 years old italian girl and my mom's a cook, a wonderful cook, which makes it very difficult to resist the temptation of a second helping of pasta or
pizza or everything else she cooks.
Anyway, I've got two very important events coming on next August: my bf 22 birthday (which he will celebrate with a beach party) and my best friend's wedding. I'd really really really love to wear something nice on this occasions, especially at the wedding, since I am the maid of honor. That's what led me here: I need support to lose my 12 kg that, after all the time they have spent with me, are so fond of me that they obstinately refuse to leave my thighs.
My start weight was 81.5 kg. I am now 77 kg and would love to be 65 by august. My doctor said it would be best not to lose more than 12 kg because I am tall. I must say I agree, for I don't like extremely skinny girls.

So, I hope to find friendships and help here, you will surely have mine if you need it.

Good luck with all your goals everybody!

benvenuta allo forum :) (or welcome in english). well you're practically my neighbour, i'm from Fiume, Croazia. and i know what you mean by italian cooking lol. do you esercise? and i know there are wonderful italian dishes that are not so fattening :) do you already have a plan of action? Lena

Wow! I didn't expect to have an answer so soon! Thank you Lena!
Yes, I do exercise, even if I definitely don't like it...I do an average of 30/40 minutes of bycicle a day. I know it's not much but I'm incredibly lazy and for my standards it is a lot. LoL
The fact is I hate gyms 'cause everybody seems to stare at me and it's so boring to exercise there. So I chose bycicle 'cause I get to see streets, parks and people that distract me from the thought that I could be on the couch watching Gilmore Girls instead! ;)

Hey, is English your second language? If so, man, you're really good with it. Well, if its your first language...then its pretty good...but err..I think I will stop talking now.

FatGuyTri, I only studied English in High School, but I've always liked it because it is so concise, while Italian is extremely prolix. We need a lot of words to say little things! After all Italian is a language for poets. ;)

I love you signature! :)

welcome to the forum, venicegirl - and for just having high school english - it's excellent - better than mine and i've spoken it my entire life :D

have fun while you're here

I agree - your English is fantastic!
Welcome to the forum!! And congrats on the loss thus far.
Bike riding is fantastic exercise. I can't wait until it warms up around here and I can dig my bike out. The bf has promised me that we'll go on a ride together and I'm going to told him to it. ;):D

Have a great day!!

Thank you all for complimenting my English. (smiles and claps hands)

Bike riding is great, especially for shaping legs without making your calfs look like those of a soccer player. Plus, it burns a lot of calories. ;)
Sometimes I force the bf to come with me and the time goes by so much better that I can ride for an hour without realising it.

welcome venice girl =) I have LOVED this place... helped me lost 35 lbs about a year ago, and since I gained some back (when I quit coming round here) I decided I needed the support again... and the accountability!

Good luck with all of your goals!

welcome to weight loss forum :) good luck on your weight loss and reaching your goals
im sure you will reach them in no time - we will all be here to help you on your way!

Just thought I'd post the pic of the dress I'd like to wear at the bf's birthday...It's simple but I love it. Ah, if only exercising was as easy as it is in the Matrix...I would just plug myself in and run/swim/jump for hours: in my head i'm soooo active...the problem starts when I actually have to get my nice round bottom off the couch.

Thank you! Looks like we've got the same weight to lose! Let's keep in touch so we can compare our successes ('cause they will be all successes!).

This morning I biked (does this verb even exist?) for 40 minutes in a freezing weather. Urgh, I hate winter!
I exercised before breakfast because I read somewhere that if you do it your body burns more calories and it keeps burning more even after you stopped exercising. This means I went out at 7 am on a Saturday morning, wearing several layers of clothes and not being actually aware of what I was doing and where I was going. Anyway, it was good because now it's done and I can enjoy my Saturday without feeling guilty for being lazy.
At breakfast I had some milk and cereal. I am a bit worried about tonight because when I'm out with my friends it's so much more difficult to say no to wine or food. I guess I'll have to be optimistic and repeat to myself all day "you can do it".

Have a great day everybody!

Today was my grandfather's birthday and unfortunately I ate a bit too much. I guess tomorrow I'll have to exercise a lot...
breakfast
2 kiwi
1 cup jasmine green tea (no sugar)

lunch
pasta with tomato sauce
potatoes
salame
bread

dinner
sandwich with ham and cheese

it doesnt sound so bad hon! just get back on track the rest of the week and you probably won't even notice the difference :)

I hope so! Thank you Sophie :)

Where I work there's this super skinny girl, and I really hate her! She constantly tells whoever will listen to her that she can eat whatever she wants without gaining a pound, which is completely false 'cause we all know she eats pratically nothing. I guess she doesn't eat more than 800-900 calories per day. This morning she came to me (I was eating my half-morning apple) and she asked if I was on a diet, because obviously no one would eat an apple if not on a diet. I said that I was and that I was quite satisfied because I'd lost 4 kgs already.
I wish I had kept chewing my apple instead of answering her! She said "really? I would never have noticed if you hadn't told me!"
Arrrgghhh! I hate her!

ps= other people noticed so I guess I should not mind her stupid words that much. But they made me angry anyway...
