Hello lovely people! Not my first time on here, I had an old account but some of my post history makes me die a little inside. Haha.

Anyway, best start with the basics: I'm 18 years old, from the UK and currently living away from home for the first time (at University). :Angel_anim:

At my last weigh-in I was about 9lbs down, but I don't have scales here - which is probably an excellent thing.

Please please say hello :)

Hey there,

How are you doing? You didn't post much info in your post so I don't really know what you are looking to accomplish, but with all of the support you can get here I know you'll be able to get there :) Anway, just sayin hi cause I know how good it feels to have support and people keepin an eye on you.

Good luck!

Hey Shawna! Thankyou for your reply :) Haha, my original first post was incredibly whiny so I cut most of it out.

I would like to get to 140-160lbs in the end - Preferably hitting the 180's by the end of the year.

I'm going to start cycling again, hopefully some swimming if I'm feeling confident enough, over the summer. Whilst at university my main exercise is walking , but I get really long holidays, so when I'm back at home I will make the most of it.

I started the year well, but then started to fall back off track, so I decided I needed to take some extra steps. I came back here because I love the support/information/ generally just somewhere to spend time instead of eating :)

Hey Hot Bread!

Sounds like you have set some reasonable goals for yourself that I'm sure you will achieve! The most important thing is to stick to your goals and surround yourself with supportive and wonderful people!!

I can't wait to get rolling on this journey we've both just begun! It may not be our first time but this is the time we will finish!! :iagree:

Okay, last night was a bit of a disaster, after a near perfect day. I was seriously annoyed with myself, but so long as I try not to do it again, it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

I boredom eat - that is my issue. So, distraction is my new best friend.

The worst thing is, I dont have scales in my student accomodation, soo I just constantly feel slightly uncomfortable with not knowing how I am doing - am I losing? Am I heavier? Am I exactly the same? It's a little disheartening.

Feeling much much better today - I would really really count not cheating for an entire day a big victory right now. It's sort of pathetic, but anyway, I'm building up some sort of self restraint - hopefully once I have that, it will become a lot easier.

A cheat free day is a victory!! Congratulations on your great day! May tomorrow be just as successful! Do not beat yourself up over the previous days cheating!! It happens to everyone!

Sooo, I weighed myself this morning at 224! Which is a 3lbs loss in 2 weeks, not amazing by any means, but a definite loss!!

My main focus is to get myself below 200 - I would feel a whole lot safer past that milestone :D :Angel_anim:

Sooo, it's monday morning, everything is going swimmingly so far! :blush5: Had a bit of a dodgy weekend with regards to food, but weight is the same, so i'm taking it that the weight loss gods are giving me a break for once.

I got asked to be a bridesmaid - I really don't want to turn down an awesome chance (storyyyyyy of my life) for the sake of "ohh, I'm far to fat for a bridesmaid dress". So, I'm going to say yes, and just remind myself of that every time I start slacking.

:boxing:

A couple years ago my sister asked me to be in her wedding and I used it for motivation to drop some weight as well. I ordered my dress 2 sizes smaller and when it came in it didnt do up - I hung it in my room and every day when I woke up and went to bed I reminded myself that I would have to wear that dress and get professional pictures taken that would hang on someone's wall in their house for the rest of their lives. I got down to 160 pounds the smallest I had ever come close to and felt so good that day! I later gained some of it back - but now it's my wedding and time to get in even better shape because this time it will be me with the pictures on the wall for life! I'm glad you said yes to your friend because it's going to be a very special day for her and you! I look forward to keeping up with your journal and reading more!

I think having something to lose for is a great idea, so I'm glad you said yes to being a bridesmaid. When you feel like cheating or not exercising, you have that to think about. I don't know when the wedding is, so I don't know if you can reach your goals by then, but every little bit counts and I'm sure you'll be much closer.

As far as not having a scale, is there a gym or a clinic on campus at your university? Either place might have a scale. In the case of a student clinic (or even just a nurse's office) I bet they would let you come in once a week to weigh if you explained to them what you are doing. Worth a shot anyway, the worst they can say is no.

Good job on your weight loss so far!

Hey! Thankyou for the replies :D

I am really glad I said yes too - I have a real tendency to be shy and miss out on things I want to do because of this. It still makes me feel anxious every time I think about it - But this is a good thing, i'm sure, a driving force - your wedding story shows that it works anyway :) Congratulations on getting married! You will look amazing, i'm sure.

It is one of the main things that is keeping me going with this. The wedding isnt until late october, so I have over 6-7 months I think.

In an ideal world, I will have hit 165, but on a more realistic level, anything below 180 would be good. Doesn't stop me from trying for 165 though.

There are scales on campus, I guess part of me is just too concious to weigh in public - I'm home every other weekend anyway usually, so it's not a huge problem really. Plus whilst at home I weigh every day, so i'm trying to cut down.

The last few days have been much much much better with regards to my dieting efforts.

On a more short term note - I really want to get under 200 as soon as possible.

Weighing every two weeks or so is just fine. That's often enough to know if you are still on track. I know there are some people who only weigh once a month, then others weigh every day.

I try to weigh twice a week, on Friday for my official weigh day and on Tuesday for a challenge I'm doing. But I cheat a lot and hope on the scale nearly every day. I really have to stop that!

And I hear you on the "under 200" thing. I can't wait!

Hello and Welcom to the weight loss forum! I think it is great to have an occassion comming up because that will make you work that much harder. When I was trying to loose for my wedding I was so much more into it! What is your plan of action? Do you count calories or go by a different system? Do you exercise? I know I am asking alot I just find that when you have a plan you get results! I will keep comming on here hoping to see how you are doing! Work hard and you will get results!!!

It's so tempting to weigh yourself all the time!! I'm a bit of a control freak so I like to know exactly what is going on with my weight.

199 is looking so good right now, haha.

Hey! thankyou :)

Well, the main change ive been trying to make to my diet is get rid of the sugary things, processed meals, etc, and more water. I keep a food diary, along with explanations for any poor eating, so I learn what triggers it. At the moment, my main exercise is walking, but I get a ton of breaks from university, so when I'm home I will start cycling again. :)

At the moment, I'm just trying to get myself into a solid consistent routine, that doesnt result in a sugar binge every couple of days.

Sounds like you have a great plan!!!! I will look forward to seing you succeed, If you give yourself minigoals like by then of April I would like to be at this weight, it gives you a boost when you reach your goal! Also in my case I wanted to loose 67 lb looking at that number made it feel so unatainable so I broke it up in 8lb a month (wich I haven't exacly done) less scary and you reach your minigoal sooner it's a boost! Hope this will help!

Thankyou! I think once ive weighed in next weekend I will set a mini goal!

Last few days have been pretty excellent food and exercisewise. I've pretty much been walking up hills most of the day, haha, so i'm counting that as exercise. I'm hoping for a good loss next time I weigh in. :D

Not much to report, except that everything is still going pretty well. We will see how well things have actually gone on monday (when I weigh in) :D

In the meantime I should be trying to get all my work finished, and my things packed up.
