Happy. Proud. Accomplished. Satisfied. Strong. Powerful. These are the emotions and thoughts I had last year after I lost 67 pounds, ran two 5Ks, and ate a near perfect diet...
Disappointed. Depressed. Fat. Offensive. Lazy. Gross. These are the emotions and thoughts I have right now, sitting alone in a hotel room having gained each and every pound back. I can't remember the last time I went running or exercised... too many months to count.
The weight gain started so gradual. 1-2 pounds. I would say "oh, that's easy to lose. I'll just eat better tomorrow!" We all know what happens when we say 'tomorrow.' It never comes! The gradual weight gain turned into a slip-n'-slide of butter and grease. Burgers, fries, milkshakes, steaks, chocolate, cake, SUGAR SUGAR SUGAR.
Then, it was too hard to turn back. I had to shift my Medium shirts and size 32 pants to the back of the closet. Then I had to buy a new belt... Now I am bursting out of my XL shirts and size 38 pants.
Don't fret (I do that enough for everyone) - I have a plan. Eat better, make better choices, stop doing things 'tomorrow', LOSE THE WEIGHT!
Obstacles:
I travel for work. A lot... like 4 days a week every week. They give us a huge restaurant budget (like $50 bucks / meal) so it is very easy to go to nice restaurants and order heavy foods. It's easy to order a TON of food, too. Trust me, I do it 3 times a day. I have to come up with a set of rules to ensure I make healthy decisions on the road. This will be the hardest part, by far.
My wife is pregnant and eats yummy things all of the time. While she would totally support me, the yummy things are still there... staring at me with their chocolate eyes... Also, we have a nice habit of enabling each other when we get hungry. "Hey Hon... we hard a HARD day, let's go get dinner..." "Hey Hon... the sky is blue, let's make a cake"
My official start date is Friday 29Oct2010. I am currently on the road and want to start with a bang (ie. weigh-in). This also gives me a day or two to construct a game plan and prepare myself.
As the title says... this will be the FINAL countdown.
