The Diary of Ree.

So two weeks have passed, and i've lost 6 whole pounds! I'm extremely proud of myself for sticking to everything i planned, and i'm only looking to the future now. I have got myself a full time job which i start in the next couple of weeks, and i'm determined it will not get in the way of my regime! Also, i have signed up for 'race for life' 5k run in my home town next month, which gives me something to aim for. :)

Yay Ree!!! It sounds like you're doing great.

I know what you mean about running in the heat. Here in Georgia, the summer heat is brutal. It's a combination of high temperatures and high humidity that makes it impossible to run. Luckily I have a gym I can go to, but swimming is a great alternative. I just don't have a pool available - at least not one that I don't have a pay a whopping huge monthly membership to join.

Good luck on the 5k! I'm going to be running one in November on behalf of a friend who has cancer. I'm excited to get there ...!

Well it's the three week point now, and to be honest, i never thought i'd stick out this long.
Jumping on the scales this morning, i have never been happier to see the number NINE! show up! I weigh 9st 13, which is an overall loss of 8 pounds so far, and my BMI is now in the normal range which is great.
:)

A small setback. It is now impossible for me to run twice a day, let alone one. I'm now working over 50 hours a week, and i have other responsibilities too. I am going to try and keep up as much exercise as possible, but it is enevitable that my weight loss is going to slow down. I'm on my feet all day at work, but i don't know if this is enough.

Four weeks have passed. I have lost a total of 11 pounds and now weigh in at 9st 10. I'm a bit worried this is too much, i have lost 4 pounds this week, double what i had planned. I think its the hours at work, i hardly have time to eat, and i am on my feet for 9 hours at a time. This isn't a particularly healthy way to loose weight i know.
On the up side, the American sensation that was this guy called Jared who apparently lost weight by only eating subways may be true! I work at subway, and all im eating at the moment is food i get there, and its certaintly working!

Ok 5 weeks, and i weigh 9st 9, which i think is reasonable considering the amount of food i've been eating which has been more than normal, plus my huge weight loss last week. So 12 pounds lost altogether, i'm quite happy with that. Aiming for 9st 7 next week. Fingers crossed, cos that'll be exactly a stone lost.

Congratulations! Your doing so well sticking to everything and I'm sure you will reach your goal next week!
:D

6 weeks - 9st 7, A whole stone lost. I'm starting to look a little silly in my work uniform, which was baggy anyway. Now it's just ridiculous. Lol, still, it's a good thing. Next weeks goal, 9st 5. Hopefully, i am prepared for the weight to drop slower now, as i'm reaching the last half of it.

Seven weeks, 9st 6, the weight loss is really slowing down now, both cos i'm getting smaller and also cos i'm eating more than i was. But this is purposeful, i want to get my body used to eating slightly more calories, ready for when im going to have to maintain my weight instead of losing it. My goal is 9st, although a little under this would be better, so i can always aim to keep under that 9 limit.
Had a cheat day yesterday, as i went to a BBQ, and decided it was about time. 7 weeks of a strict regime, it was really nice. But i'm still not drinking alcohol now, 7 weeks off that, and i'm not going back to it. An overal loss of 15 pounds, i'm happy, but not finished! Back on the health today, aiming for 9st 5/4 next week, :) hopefully i'll get there.

What is your current height and weight?
- I'm 132 pounds and 5"3/4, i've not checked my height in years. Although i started my journey at 147 pounds.
If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?
- Around 120-125 pounds would be nice.
At what weight would you like to be at four months from now?
- My target weight, or under that.
Why do you want to lose weight?
- So i feel more confident with the way i look, and i break my dependance on food.
Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event?
- No specific event, but things in general, holidays, and parties, where you look back at the photos and feel awful.
What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?
- Being around really tempting situations, or being around people who don't apprieciate my diet. Also, being too busy to exercise or make the right decisions.
Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?
- I have a problem with eating just because i felt like it, not because i needed it, or because i was even hungry. All i thought about was the next meal, or getting a chocolate bar.
What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight?
- I actually think this has worked the other way around. Since starting a food diary and logging my weight changes, i have become more organised in my day-to-day life, now have a full time job where i am happy, and my mental state is a lot better. (Cyclothymia has improved big style), and now any outbursts i have, are usually not to do with body image.
Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight?
- I have, and the photo from this was my motivation.
Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back?
- I got lazy, and thought that the 'odd' bad eating day wouldnt hurt, but i couldnt stop.
What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work?
- Being too casual has not worked, as given choice, i will make the wrong decision. Also, not weighing myself does not work, as i trick myself into thinking i have lost more weight than i actually have.
Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time?
- I have done this for 7 weeks now, it stops me eating bad things, as i know i would have to log it later.
Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook?
- I never cook, just because i'm not really a fan of it. I eat mainly cold salads and stuff tho, or at work, where it's just sandwiches.
How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go?
- I avoid eating out as much as possible, i've been to a restaurant twice since i started this 7 weeks ago, and ate the healthiest thing on the menu.
What are your three favorite foods?
- I'll do this different, three favourites before were fried chicken, cheesy crisps and chocolate, and three favourites since (within my restricted diet), eggs, beans and soup.
What are your three favorite restaurants?
- SUBWAY, lol, my lil place. CA's, and i can't really think of any other.
What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food?
- Hold back especially in the evening, Ignore completely, and i'm starting to make the right decisions.
If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different?
- I'd be happier i know that for sure.
Do you eat when you are not hungry?
- Not any more.
Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)?
- I used to yeah.
Do you hide your food or eat in secret?
- Used to all the time, now i eat when people are around.
Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed?
- Yes
Do you eat as a reward?
- No
Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer?
- Yes, all the time
What do you normally eat for a meal?
- Cold meats, veggies, brown bread, eggs, subs, not real meals, just collections of different foods.
What type of snacks do you eat?
- i don't really
In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing?
- running and swimming when i can around my job
Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home?
- local places
What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise?
- running, swimming, walking
What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals?
- daily, pretty much just how i feel and look
weekly - my weight, hopefully dropping
monthly, its only been two months so i dunno
yearly - no idea
Do you have rewards for certain goals?
no, cos i shouldn't reward for just being healthier, this is how i should be

Ok 8 week point, and tbh it's not great news. This is the first time i have not hit my official goal point (i have an excel spreadsheet thing), but i'm not all down about it, cos i know exactly why it's happened. I weigh 9st 5, a pound down from last week, but up til today i was weighing in at 9st 4, but i always take the weight on the weigh-day(sunday), stops me from cheating the truth. It's because i have a friend staying from uni and he's a skinny boy who eats what he wants, and cos i of that i have probably been to casual with the diet. Casual meaning domino's pizza and chocolate lol. But missing my goal is probably a good thing, gives me a drive to be 9st 2 next sunday. Whatever the cost, i will be 9st 2. Watch this space however, cos weight can do anything. Unfortunately.

sunday - 9st 5 /131 - not good!
monday - 9st 5 /131- not happy!
tuesday - 9st 4 /130- getting better...

Tomorrow i'm hoping for 9st 4 or 3, just not 5!!!

I'm only weighing every day cos it keeps me motivated, and it won't be a permanent change.

I've also had a look at what i'm eating. Cut out butter and fizzy drinks recently, which adds to my list of general junk food and refined sugars like chocolate and white bread. I'm mostly eating low sugar yogurts or eggs for breakfast, lunch will be soup or a brown bread sandwich, tea is usually lean meats and vegetables. During the day i snack on dried fruits or nuts to keep my metabolism going.
It can get a little boring which is where my cheat days come in, and my next will be in about 2/3 weeks when i should hopefully be down to about 126 poundsish.

AAAAAAAAA, why is weight loss so irritating sometimes?! I've slowed down to the point where i'm barely losing a pound a week. But at least it's still going down i guess. Today i weighed in at 130 pounds, tomorrow i really want 129, but i have a really bad feeling its not going to happen. In which case i will have to re-access my goals, try and spread them out a bit. I'm not eating differently to how i was, just doing less exercise cos of my job. But i managed to do quite a bit of exercise today, trying to do a last minute push to reach my weekly goal.
I've come so far, but all i can think of is the last 6 pounds.

Hey Ree!

I know how frustrating it is. :) Hang in there. Remember that a healthy rate of loss is about 1% of your overall bodyweight per week. When you get down into the low 100s, 1% is only 1.3lbs or 1.2lbs ... and that can be frustrating when you're used to 2lbs or more a week. :) But you'll get there!

Ok, still 130 today but i'm taking advice from Kara, weight loss will be slowing down, that's just normal. And plus, i'm not actually gaining any weight, at least there's that. I've started taking the dogs out more, and also trying to eat more frequently. I don't really care how long this takes, i will get down to my goal weight. 124 here i come.

You can do it :) Maintaining a weight is better than gaining (unless you want to gain muscle of course blah blah whatever lol) and proves difficult for some people. What kind of puppies do you have? I love dogs lol

I've got a border collie (abbie) and a black lab (johnny cash, aka cash - random i know) , they're both adorable. We have a family friend who walks dogs for a living, and owns 6 springer spaniels himself, and they are sooo cute.

129 pounds this morning, put me in quite a good mood. Might even make my really big mini goal of 128/9st 2 for this sunday. Am going to eat extra well today, and take out the dogs even though it's raining.

Had a bad few days, not all bad, just too relaxed with eating. But i think it's cos i haven't been weighing myself, so i haven't been scared of the scales. And also cos i finally like how i look, although if i gain weight i won't, so i have to keep on top of my diet at all times. Will weigh tomorrow even tho i ate a lot today, just to get my motivation back on track, am expecting a few pounds gain. But am not going to let it annoy me too much. There's no point. Just let it give me the kick i need to get back on track.

Haven't been on here for a few days, had a lot going on. Had a few issues with the managment at work, so applied and got a new job. After one shift at a new place, i walked out and went back to my old job. Which i now don't want to leave, as i've seen what the alternative is. My pay is shit, but i'm happy working there, so i'm not leaving. My scales decided to break recently, but i've just got them working and found i gained two pounds with all the stress of the last week or so. I don't mind, life will always do this to you and i just have to deal with it. I still have my goal and i still have my plan. It'll be another week or so before i'm emotionally back on track (a lot of other stuff has happened), but i am feeling a lot better than i was. Here's to not giving up.
