The Diary of Delvian

Nice! Its always cool to meet other wow players. And what i think is funny is going somewhere and hearing other people talk about it.
funny stuff.

I mainly play after I lay my son down for the night.

wow i think was a huge factor in my weight gain but not anymore since I've cut back so much.

love'n this thread!

We're probably having/had the same problem Ashy :)
But I've also cut back a bit on games in general. I played WoW since vanilla, but then stopped after Burning Crusade. My new drug were EQ2, LOTRO,...and single player games. But now I'm craving for some priest action again :)) Can't wait to get back! You guys in a guild?

Yeah I used to be in a hardcore endgame raiding guild. We'd raid 5 hours a night, 4 nights a week. We were one of those cusp of progression guilds in BC and Wrath. That was back on my first main.

I also am an avid pet collector on that toon, that's pretty much the only reason I log into her anymore :) I have 155 pets.

My new main is , who I just started raiding with. This is a super casual guild, two nights a week for 3 hours each. They don't even care if you miss a raid!

It's definitely awesome to find fellow wow players, always a great thing to talk about. That's actually how I found my current guild, my coworker is an officer :D

I was able to log over 30 minutes playing Gladiator Duels on Sports Champions. I worked harder through a sweat on that than I have on any walk :)

Well, today is a day full of cleaning house. Our apartment isn't a total pigsty, but the complex is having Terminex guys in just for their yearly check up. That means I want my place spotless, the guys will be everywhere! Closets, bathroom, everywhere.

Day 4, 6/13/11
214.8 lbs

Today I will do more gladiator battles, probably while taking breaks from cleaning. I want to log at least another 30 minutes.

I've been looking at some before and after pictures, they are SO inspiring! I'm trying to get the guts up to do some of my own. Granted, it'll only be before right now hehehe.

Hey there!

You seem pretty cool! I love Doctor Who too, David Tennant by FAR the best doctor. I miss him, Matt Smith is okay but he'll never live up to David.

Anyways, I used to play WoW too! I started raiding in WotLK and I was pretty hooked. I was playing a lot when Cata came out but it really started affecting my school and personal life so I thought I would take a break. That break ended up stopping me playing for good because I saw how much more free time I had and how much better my life was without it. I was also pretty satisfied on killing Cho Gall on March 25th. It was really the first time I actually killed an end boss of the current tier.

This was my rogue :

Glad to see you've committed to getting into shape! It's a problem for a lot of WoW players :p Keep it going!

Thanks! I like to think I'm cool LOL. I love meeting all the current and former wow players here! I totally understand about taking a break. I got burnt out on hardcore raiding and took a 9 months break before Cata hit. I had so much more free time to do my music and stuff, I decided that I wouldn't raid more than 2 nights a week ever again.

I actually know a ton of wow players, and the majority of the hardcore endgamers I knew were actually really fit. The only time they would play though was the raids, they were so burnt out that they didn't spend any more time in game hahah.

I also LOVE Tennant! Totally going to see Fright Night just for him. Though I must admit, I'm falling in love with Matt Smith as the doctor as well. It was hard to adjust, but I don't think they could have found anyone better to fill David's shoes. Us Who fans are a rare breed, we love an actor so much that nobody can ever replace him...and then a few season in...we fall again hehe.

haha too true about the Doctors, after Christopher Eccleston left the show I was very apprehensive about David Tennant, but he's my favorite doctor now!

Whew, just did more workout! 20 minutes of Gladiator battles!

My boyfriend was really apprehensive about Tennant as well, but we all know how that turned out :)

Quick post today, I'm running late. My parents' 25 wedding anniversary is today, so I'll be running all over today after work.

I'll format this later.

Day 5, 6-14-11
215.5 lbs

I'll be doing another 30 on gladiator battles tonight :)

Just got home! Tonight was my parents' 25th wedding anniversary. They chose where to eat and they picked Olive Garden. I probably had a few too many breadsticks, but I did take a big chunk of my meal home. Now it's time to get on the PSMove!

I played Gladiator for 20 minutes, which is 10 minutes less than my goal for today. It's still 20 min more than usual though, so I'm considering it progress! My arms are SO sore!

For those of you who have no idea what Gladiator is, I'm including two videos to give you an idea.
This one shows what the basic gameplay takes from a person. I'm further in the game than this so there is about twice the movement.

And this shows what you're doing on screen while you move. Action starts at 1:00

Day 6, 6-15-11
218.0

Hmm, gained a few. Then again, I also had to weigh myself fully clothed this morning, can it effect it that much?

Working today from 9-5:30. Another day of gladiator battles, unless it's nice out. If It's nice out I want to go for a walk for 20 minutes.

Wow, these are getting repetitive. It that bad?

Repetition can be bad, your body will get used to what your doing and adjust accordingly. It will be harder and harder for you to get your heart rate up to get a good workout. I'm not sure how good of a workout the Gladiator Battles are. I suggest start checking your heart rate at the most intense point of the gladiator battles. Compare it to the suggested heart rate from this site :

If your heart rate isn't in between those values you should probably be doing something a little more intense. Not saying that you can't do the Gladiator Battles if you enjoy it, but probably a good idea to do some supplementary exercise to compensate.

As far as weighing yourself goes. I think consistency is very important. I weigh myself everyday right when I wake up, after I go to the bathroom, and fully naked. This keeps the values consistent and shows me how I'm doing on a daily basis. I know some people believe you should only weigh yourself once a week to see how you're doing because weight fluctuates very frequently. But my eating habits are very fixed and the consistent weighing give me a good idea of how I'm doing everyday.

So if your meals are very consistent and you want to way yourself everyday, that's fine. But make sure you do it a similar time (you're the lightest in the morning :p) and with no variations in how you weigh yourself. I suggest after you use the bathroom, fully naked. Works for me!

I actually usually weigh myself exactly like you suggested :) This morning I was running a bit behind and my boyfriend needed the bathroom to get ready for work so I wasn't able to weigh myself until he was done and it was a few minutes before we had to leave.

As for the heart rate, I actually end up quite out of breath with my heart racing during the game. Granted, I play a LOT harder than the guys are in the videos. I'll take my heart rate next time I play and see how it compares to your link :)

Thanks for the info!

Did about 20 minutes of Gladiator today, and then winded down with some less tiring move games.

I took my pulse, and though I don't remember the exact rate, it was over 120 beats per minute. Seeing as I really haven't exercised much at all before this past week or so, that seems to be in the target area.

Day 7, 6-16-11
218lbs

Today I'll go for a nice long walk with my parents' puppy. He's somewhat leash trained, but he's also 70 lbs.

I'm starting a medication today that has a side effect of weight gain. We'll see how this works out!

Hello ...

I am an ex WoW player too - lvl 85 Troll priest on Aerie Peak, I stopped playing shortly after the Cataclysm release. Breaking my addicition of WoW meant I had so much more time to do things and of course not sitting on my arse raiding twice a week ... and grinding mats to make potions and raid food on other days means I can concentrate on me for a change ..... and not healing 9 other people! Seriously WoW was like another full time job... come home from work, go fishing, cook X amount of feasts etc or have to raid, sleep, work rinse and repeat.

I wish you the best of luck in your weight loss journey, FOR THE HORDE!

PS: forgot to mention I met my partner playing WoW too :D

Thought I'd poke my nose in here and say hey.
Gladiator is so fun!
I am in a super casual guild too. I don't raid. I do random bgs/2v2 (looking for people to join my 3v3) and random normal dungeons because I don't have a great pve set.
I used to be a hard core raider to, but I barely have any time for myself these days. I'm lucky I get to post on here.
I hope the medicine your on doesn't give you a difficult time.
