The amazing shrinking woman (I hope!)

Hey!! Hope your insane day has worked out ok - and you stayed safe on the icy roads!!!
Bring on Friday for you :grouphug:

It was a nerve wracking trip to work this morning, but I made it safely. By the time I left for the day they were clear (the sun came out and did some melting) which is good because I was running late and had to speed a bit (ok a lot) to get back on time for my conference call. Then we found out that the number they had e-mailed out to everyone was for some business that helps fix moisture problems in your basement and crawl spaces. We were scrambling trying to find someone who could check on the number for us, but everyone was away from their desks and sitting in conference rooms. The guys hosting the call couldn't figure out why no one was joining in on the call, so after 5 minutes of dead silence they sent someone back to their desk to find some phone numbers for the other people on the call and found all our voice messages and e-mails asking for the number. Everyone in all the other counties were scrambling to try to find someone with the correct phone number. WHAT A MESS!!!

So because we got started late, the call ran over on time, which made me late for parent teacher conferences. My 10 year old and my soon to be 8 year old are both apparently VERY smart according to all the standardized tests, but one is lazy about doing her work and turning it in, and the other one is always in trouble for talking too much in class and trying to 'help' her classmates by telling them the answers. I found out that my 10 year old is supposed to be reading 20 minutes a day, then has to have a parent sign her reading log weekly. She has been forging my mother in law's signature (quite badly I might add) and turning in her logs with fake times on it. She's supposed to have her belated birthday party tomorrow, and after finding out about the reading logs I was seriously thinking of cancelling - but some of the parents of all the girls coming for supper tomorrow night made other plans since their kids won't be home - so I kind of hate to back out on them.

Plus, I just forked out $16 for a pre-decorated cake. I was thinking that I could stay up late tonight making one from scratch for less than $1.50 like I usually do, skipping my work out to do so. OR.... I could spend $16 for an insanely overpriced cake and use the time to do my work out. I decided I better work out if I'm going to be eating cake tomorrow - so I spent the $16.

But by the time I got home tonight, got the kids to bed and got all my phone messages returned (I'm taking names to pre-register for a 5 week archery class that I will be teaching in a couple of weeks) I was exhausted. I really just wanted to drop into bed! So I had a glass of skim milk and ate a grapefruit to give myself a little bit of energy and managed to scrape together enough willpower and ambition (and boy did I have to scrape HARD) to get off my butt and do my lower body weight training workout.

I'm proud of myself for getting it done. I think what pushed me to do it was the fact that I got an e-mail from an old friend today asking if we could meet for lunch soon. I kept thinking about how I would love to see the look on her face when she sees me again after all this time. I CAN'T WAIT!

So now that I've done my work out, I'm REALLY going to hit the hay hard now. I predict that I will be asleep in under 30 seconds from the time my head hits the pillow!

I am soooo PROUD of you!! With such a hectic lifestyle - and you still find the energy in you to do your excercize - you are truly an inspiration!

I dont blame you for buying the cake (it sounds well priced compared to prices here - hahah) - you are well busy!!

Hope you can have some rest during the weekend!!!!:grouphug:

Life is so busy when you have kids- isn't it? I mean life is busy enough but when you add the children it becomes insane-lol. Nice job on getting in the workout even though you are clearly exhausted. Doesn't the weather suck. I see you are going through the same 'Spring' that we are up here. I have lived here my whole life and I am thinking about moving to somewhere warmer maybe Alaska-lol.

Isn't it nice to see people you haven't seen for a while and you have this new sexy body. I know I bumped into someone I haven't seen for a year or so and they didn't recognize me-lol. Makes it all worthwhile.

Time for me to go to work. Have a great day and keep fighting the fight!

Justina & Cowboy - Yes, life is always busy, but I think we can all adjust. It's just a matter of what we value and what is more of a priority to us. We make the time for those things.

People always ask me how I find the time to work full time with 4 kids, help lead our local 4-H club, teach archery classes, help hubby out on the farm when I can, PLUS exercise. Well, this morning when I looked at what a disaster my house is, and tried not to panic over the idea of having guests over later today, I can tell you how I manage - I don't spend nearly enough time cleaning!!! LOL! I guess my house looks well lived in. My sisters who are totally anal about how clean thier homes are seem to always be cleaning instead of doing something fun. It makes them crabby ALL THE TIME because their kids and spouses are always messing up their clean house! I just don't care. They sweep after every meal, do the dishes immediately after each meal, and completely scrub their floors 2 or 3 times a week! Fingerprints on the walls? Unheard of in their homes! I think I'm doing good if I get around to sweeping the floors once a week, and mopping up the worst of the visable messes before they dry onto the floor. And my dishes never seem to be completely done because the second I turn on the dishwasher and turn around, someone had dirtied another cup or something. I swear one of these days I'm going to instal a commercial water fountain in my house so that my kids quit using a new clean cup every time they get a drink of water! It would save me TONS of soap and water from washing all those cups!

And laundry? HA! That's a never ending battle in my house with 4 little girls!

So tonight when I get home do you think I'll sort thru the pile of mail on the counter and put a load of laundry away? Nah. I'd rather go RUNNING!!!

Priorities I tell ya!

I am with you on this. I think you have your priorities perfectly in line. If I had my way, I would rather run than do laundry anyday!!

Tigs, I agree - you're amazing to make time for everything!
I think you must be the busiest Mum alive sometimes! Lol
Although it's not good - lol at your little one forging the signature! I remember tracing my mother's and writing notes to get out of PE class (swimming in particular) and they never cottoned on... :)
Hope the party goes well for you xx

I don't blame you with regards to your siblings, I don't bother so much anymore either. I was ALWAYS the one who rang, sent pressies etc but never heard anything in return. It IS sad, but what can you do?
I'm glad the visit with your sister went well. Wow it must have been hard to have a baby at 36 after all that time. I could never go back now, and I'm 33 this year. I just think it wuld be too hard at this age!
Thanks for always remembering me Tigs, hope you have a great week :)

Jess xx

Tigs - I get exhausted reading about all that you do. I couldn't even begin to imagine - but you explained it very well. If it is important to you, you just make it happen. I'm with you on the 'well lived in home'. Although I don't have any children, the 2 cats and dog do their share to add to the well lived in look - not to mention hubby and I. All of our friends and family know that we are not the house to 'drop by' without calling first. If we plan on hosting an event or party - hubby and I do a big cleaning - otherwise, it's just laundry once a week - dishes every couple of days (not enough to run the dishwasher daily) - clearing of the countertops weekly, and a weekly moping of the floors. Hubby does a good cleaning of the kitchen and baths regularly too.

Well done on digging deep and getting that workout in. Bravo.

Sorry you didnt convince me - I M STILL IMPRESSED HOW MUCH YOU GET DONE!!! :D You are amazing woman - super woman in fact hehehe!!!
Nobody wants to live in a museum anyway!!!
Keep up the good job & have a fab weekend!!!
Let your hair done & relax a bit

Tigs, I say, I come and read your diary whenever I need a reality check that despite how unbelievably busy I am, you are certainly BUSIER!! I don't know how you do it all. My house is very similar - piles of ironing needing to be done and stuff to put away but life is too short to get too hung up over hoovering and dusting! I would get a cleaning lady, but I'd have to tidy up first!!

Howdy WLF folks!

I had a lazy, naughty weekend. After lifting weights on Thursday I was VERY sore on Friday, especially by evening after all the party goers had left. I was supposed to run, but I was really stiff. I joked with hubby that I needed a little sexercise to losen up, but I think we overdid it because my legs didn't seem to want to work afterwards. Needless to say, I never made it onto the treadmill to run that night. And when I woke up on Saturday morning I was so sore I could hardly get out of bed and walk! Going up and down steps was hell, as well as sitting and standing. OWIES!!!

I skipped lifting weights on Saturday because I was in so much pain, and didn't run on Sunday either because I was just starting to feel better.

Eating wasn't great - we had cake in the house and I couldn't seem to help myself! And Sunday night hubby and I broke out a bag of tostitos and salsa - WAY too much salt in my life!

I was too scared to step on the scale this morning to see what the damages were from the weekend. But I did get on tonight after my run, but before I ate supper. 137.2 - so not too bad I guess. Up a couple of pounds.

After the kids were in bed tonight I did my upper body weight training while hubby watched. Then at the end he jumps up off the couch and tried a few of the exercises I was doing - and I whooped his ass!!! LOL!!!! :smilielol5: I could do more than him on several of the different exercises. Then he dug out the weight bench and put on the leg attachment. I almost laughed at him cuz I knew I'd REALLY whoop him there. His skinny chicken legs that he never works against my runners legs? Dream on honey! :smilielol5:

But he did bury me on bench pressing. I couldn't come close to competing with him there.

It sure was fun though! I'd love it if he'd work out with me more often. But holy smokes am I gonna be sore tomorrow!

Way to kick hubby's butt with the weights! I don't do anything but cardio, really, but I do enjoy having that as a strength... A few times I've been walking with boyfriend uphill and I get amused when he's out of breath and I'm just prancing along beside him. But that's only because I know he'd kick my butt at anything else exercise-related, haha.

Maybe hubby WILL take this as a sign that he should join you more often... That would be neat!

I had a lazy, naughty weekend.
I know how that one feels! At least you managed to get various exercise in over the weekend, eitherway! Glad to see you're closing in on your target, eitherway.

Hi Tig,

NIce job on whooping his ass-lol. It is amazing how when you are doing exercise you don't really think about where you were compared to where you are now. 'Competing' against your husband just shows you how far you have come. Congrats!

It must have been lazy weekend days-lol. I had a pretty lazy weekend too. I guess we are allowed once in a while. Sounds like you needed the rest too. Good job on getting at least some of your workouts in. Maybe your hubby will join you now that he knows you do better on some of the things than he does. Nothing like a little healthy competition. Have a great Tuesday!!

Tigs - well done on workout. I was sure you were going to say that hubby pounced on ya after watching the upper body workout. hehehe....where my mind goes.....

I love competing with my hubby - especially when I can whoop him - which is usually only legs - but I'm catching up with arms (not sure about bench). He denies that I have always outdone him on the leg press....but the trainer confirmed it for me - she went back through her records from years back. mwahahaha.

I'm sure you'll get in your groove again soon.

Well, after whooping hubby yesterday of course I had to rub it in today by poking and pinching him where I knew he'd be sore every time I passed him. I'm definately not as sore as he seems to be - but I'm not too sure it was wise to tease the lion so to speak. He threw me on the couch, sat on me, and tickled me till I could hardly breathe any more! His excuse for not being able to beat me and for being so sore is because he says he's not used to lifting weights any more, where as I've been doing this for months now.

Sure, hun. Whatever you say! ;)

Today is my scheduled rest day. I'd almost feel guilty about taking a rest day already so soon after all the sluffing off I did this weekend, but it's been a day from hell at work. I'm just popping on here quick and then have to get some more work done tonight. Eating has been spot on, and I'm already looking forward to tomorrow night's run!

I'm not sure what's going to happen with my exercise routine after the first of April. I'm teaming up with 3 others to teach archery classes twice a week for 5 weeks to a bunch of elementary kids. We've got so many kids signed up already that we'll have 3 back to back 1 hour sessions. It's going to make for some pretty long days. Hopefully if I can keep the calories within limits it won't make much difference that I miss a work out or 2. Besides, it's not like I'm going to be sitting around. I'll be on my feet for 4 hours straight - half an hour for setting up, 3 hours for walking up and down the shooting line helping kids, then another half an hour to tear down. The challenge will be to make healthy food choices on those nights when I know I'm going to be too exhausted cook much.

I forsee a lot of frozen pizzas in our near future....

Hi Tigs,

That is just not fair using his superior weight advantage to tickle-lol. I know about the guilt taking a rest day. I took my planned one yesterday even though I took the weekend off too. I still needed it though and the guilt tells me that I am still on track ( otherwise I wouldn't care) . As long as your eating is on you can afford to take the occasional unplanned rest day.

Sounds like you are as busy as ever. I am sure you will find time to fit in your workouts. My kids say " Oh are we cooking for ourselves AGAIN tonight? Guess we will have frozen pizza?" I tell them they should be eating salad and grilled chicken but apparently what does the "health nut" in the family know ( at least that is what they say to me-lol)

Hey Tig! Good to see you! Thanks for the welcome home - it feels good to be back and reading all your motivating workouts. I'm still so jealous of you in the 130's - remember that every time you feel like you aren't doing good enough. You have come so far so a couple bad indulgences isn't going to set you back too far. It's all about maintenance now and moderation and I know you can do it.
I loved the post about how you have time to exercise because you don't clean like your sisters - I had to laugh because I am the same way they are. I'm so anal about keeping the house clean and not having anyone stop over if I haven't vacummed in 5 days. I'm going to need to change that attitude once I have kids because exercising is way more important than a clean house for me. My house is full of dust bunnies since I got home and someone wanted to stop by to see our pictures and I told them to wait till Saturday so I've had a chance to clean, lol - so silly.
Your doing great and I love your attitude - so refreshing and very motivating! Have a great weekend and keep it up!
