The 4-Hour Body

Eh..... I dunno.

I've lost 105 lbs of fat, and gained just over 30 lbs of lean muscle, in 30 months or so, without ever having done anything too drastic, with my diet.

The only thing "drastic" about my dietary changes, was how horrible my diet was for the 20+ years up until 30 months ago, and how healthy, and balanced it is now. Heck, I still eat 3300 to 4200 cals a day, depending on whether I'm bulking or cutting. {which might sound like a lot, but in reality, it's about half of what I ate daily, for the 20+ years prior, to my life change / body swap}

I am absolutely positive I can eat just the way I am now, for the rest of my life, and with small adjustments, can push my weight / BF % up or down, at will, at any time that I choose......

Their is nothing so liberating, as gaining complete control over your body :)

Rule 1: Avoid "white" carbohydrates (or anything that can be white).
Rule 2: Eat the same few meals over and over again.
Rule 3: Don't drink calories.
Rule 4: Don't eat fruit.
Rule 5: Take one day off per week and go nuts.
He stresses rule 5 by saying, "...dramatically spiking caloric intake ... once per week increases fat-loss by ensuring that your metabolic rate (thyroid function and conversion of T4 to T3, etc.) doesn't downshift from extended caloric restriction."

It makes sense to me - I think we all know that the biggest reason diets fail in the long term is because your body adjusts to the restricted caloric intake. Most people solve this problem with exercise, but if we can "confuse" our bodies when we eat (much like what we try to do in the gym by constantly changing our workouts), we ought to see greater changes. Anyone have any thoughts, pro or con, on this?

I have discovered this rule by trial and error. It took me a year to loose 30lbs. Splurging may slow me down but i find it easy to maintain my weight when I allow myself enjoy food once or twice a week. The trick is to actually keep track. There is a fine line between controlled over-eating and flat out over-eating (habitually).

Apparently having the one of the meals the same every day is good as it stops you overindulging on the new taste i try to eat the same cereal daily
