I thought i'd have a crack at this to keep track of my progress (or lack of lol), feel free to comment on anything that you think may help :)
Also whens best to weight yourself? I have been everyday so far, but it goes up & down quite a bit, so i was thinking just weigh weekly.

I'm aiming at app 1200-1800 calories a day, and see how it goes.

So Day 1 was on saturday;
Meal Log

Date Meal Food/Serving Calories Total Weight
05/01/2008 Breakfast Coffee 0
Lunch Minestrone 80
Dinner Chow Mein 690
(low fat home made)
Snack Rice 169
939 Week - 1- 120KG
I really should have had breakfast, but i was running late so stuck to coffee, first day was ok, no feeling hungry in the evening :) I followed it up with 30 mins on the weights to break myself back in.

06/01/2008 Breakfast Coffee 0
Lunch Toast Buttered x4 336
Dinner Spaghetti w/Bacon 360
Snack Yule log 260 956

Sunday wasnt so good, again i was running late so didnt have time to get breakfast in & went out for the evening meal (late new years do) allthough the meal was ok, i was dissapointed i couldnt say no to the Yule log! Again just half an hour on the weights.

07/01/2008 Breakfast Bran Flakes320
Lunch Salmon pasta 420
Dinner Salmon pasta 420 1160

Much better today, back at work so i managed to keep off any snacking, used stairs wherever i could & tried to stay active for most of the day & just finished a 40 minute weights session & managed to add 5kg :) , arms are aching though to type lol. I just need to drink more water, only managed 6 glasses today & drank far too much coffee. I'm also going to add in some protein shakes next week to replace a meal & see how it goes.

there's a thread or two here on that subject - the answer is - whatever you are mostcomfortable with... just keep in mind the scale doees fluctuate an you're better off with measurements ad a more reliable means of how you're doing...

welcome to your diary and much success on your journey :)

Thanks for the advice :)
Well today

Dinner Spicy chicked salad 360
Snack Cereal bar 80 1060

Kept off the weights this evening to allow myself a bit of rest. (+ ive had a manic day at work, lots of heavy lifting :( ) I'm pleased with myself so far on day 4, weighed myself after taking a bath this evening, with more clothes than i usually do on as it freezing here at the mo lol & the scales are staying a good 2/3lbs below constantly now for 2 days & my arms & shoulders are quite popped at the mo, so the weights must be paying off (yay!) However i will leave it for the full 7 days before taking any accurate measurement. I'm also thinking about taking up circuit training as a means of cardio untill i can face cycling / jogging in the summer.

Hahaha, its a wierd experience, your fully aware of whats going on, but its like your watching someone else. Just bought one of those Paul McKenna books & cd's (only because it was reduced to £3.99 tho :p) See what hes like.

Dinner Roast Chicken 613 913

I didnt want to skip lunch, but had an early & heavy dinner, today has been the first time ive stayed really full from a meal all night (i never go hungry, but ive never not finished all the plate) so it feels quite good that it actually registered, tbh the hypnotitst i went to see did boast that he could change the not full feeling!
Also managed to do 40 mins of power walking & 40 mins of extreme weight lifting today, ive actually had to order more weights in now as im using all mine lol :)

Boy you're really slashing calories.

Welcome to the forum. Keep up the good work.

Remember not to get crazy hungry. You'll still lose, especially the way you're working out. Just keep the snacks to 200 calories.

Cheers :) Thats the thing, im not going hungry :S lol I am making sure that the meals are a good size and varied enough to get enough nutrients etc & ive finally managed to keep to the 2ltr + of water a day.
But thanks for the concern - i will make sure i dont go hungry :)

Well im really dissapointed in myself this week, ive felt seriously suicidal due to having the flu, missing 2 days off work and some relationship worries, so i opted for the fish&chip shop twice this week, which made me feel even more like shit :(

However, if nothing else purely to take the anger out of me ive kept at the weights, added an inch to my upper arms :) But ive not lost any inches off the waist / chest :(

However dispite a crap week, ive still lost 2 pounds. Hopefully next week i can get back on track.

Slightly better this week, i feel alot better & have managed to keep urges under cotroll again, & I've lost 2 inches off my chest, but still nothing off the stomach which is a bit disheartening, allthough a few people have started to comment that im looking good (woot! lol)
another 3 lbs gone! Its got to start coming off the stomach soon lol

Well 6 months later...
Unfortunately slipped into old habits, and before i knew it shot up to 19st4lbs!!

However the motivation i needed finally arrived, maybe not in the best way, taken into hospital to have gallstones removed & gave myself ibs due to my poor diet (My own stupid fault)

So this time i will not give up thats for sure! Nothing worse that the pain that comes from both!

So far ive been back on with the diet for 2 months, only this time rather than trying to do so much calorie cutting, ive done more excersise, and kept to a 1800-2200 calorie intake, the diets been pretty much the same as before, only more fruit & veg to boost those calories i need up, as i think this is why i failed before.

So far 25lbs lost! Woot, ( a little over a quarter of my goal ) i did struggle for a few weeks once i regained my previous weight loss stage of 17stone 13lbs, as i seemed to stick at that weight, however this time instead of throwing in the towel, i took my anger out on the tarmac, i actually ran!

First time was a bit of a flop lol, ive despised running since school, but after a few attempts i managed a 15 minute run, and 15 minute powerwalk.

My goal on this part is to be able to run 30-40 mins 3 times a week so that i keep in shape, and i intend to start weightlifting again soon to get back into shape.

So far in i feel great though! :)

Congrats on the weight loss. My situation is somewhat similar to yours in some ways. Had the operation to remove my gallbladder just a couple of months ago and also had IBS. Having said that the IBS is now almost entirely gone (except for sometimes when I'm naughty!), which I attribute to the change in diet.

You're bang on about the pain of both!

Anyway, I found this thread after seeing your post on treadmills. Rather than double post I'll just give my opinion here. I find that the treadmills at my gym are great for me. I love running on them now (I'm up to a continuous 5k run/jog). The only reason I haven't splashed out for one of my own is that I simply don't have the space for it. The way I see it even if you only jog on it every so often while watching the TV then you've burned more calories than if you had been sitting down watching the telly. And surely they all add up? On the other hand, though, if you end up not liking it it's a pretty big reminder of a waste of money sitting right there in your living room.

Well, that's my two pennies. Oh, and I'm talking about the motorised treadmills, I've never run on a magnetic one. You might want to try one out in case they're not as good.

Good luck.
