techniques and equipment

hey there, ive been reading a lot of different peoples threads regarding workout routines and i have went through all the process they say to on all of em but like other people i seem to be running into the problem of not know what these different workouts are, for example board presses in a horizontal pushing workout..i know its a pain in the butt, but is there anyone that could tell me some of the techniques because at the gym where i go there are only machines, no barbells or anything but there are dumbbells. sorry for any frustrations.
