Taking the stairs to success!!

Today's workout

Warm up, walk 2 min- run 2 min x7, cool down (35 minutes) stretch

Temperature and end chill will make it too cold to walk outside tomorrow so I think we will walk at the indoor track if that's the case.

Are you doing like a run/walk working up to 5k run program? When I did that, I was SO chuffed with how I was able to build up to running for 12 mins...then 20mins (that was the HUGE barrier for me mentally). I just wanted to say - its never left me. Even as someone heavier and less fit now, I can still leave the house and run 5k. It takes longer, I puff more, it hurts more afterwards and I'm slower but its like that programmed trained me to mentally accept I CAN DO IT and my body will if I ask it. Wierd or what?!!

Anyhow, all teh exercise is sounding really good!

Hi jjjay! Yes, my program slowly builds in more running and less walking. Right now the one I am working on builds a base level and then on Feb. 3 I start working on my 10k plan that will have me running 5 mins and walking 1. You are so right - my brain is a HUGE barrier, but it is so cool that if you can push through mentally, your body will do it.

Today's workout
30 minutes elliptical and 30 minutes treadmill. (Warm up, cool down and stretches too)

Too cold to go outside today, so we went to the indoor track, but there was a meet on so we had to use the fitness room instead. It was surprisingly busy but lots of fun.

Today's workout

Technically a rest day so nothing too intense. Dance with kids 20 minutes (salsa, merengue, cha cha cha, bachata) and 45 minute walk. Good day, lots of fun. :)

so for a rest day you don't actually rest you just do something easy instead ?

thats a idea :)
thanks

goodluck on your weight loss :)

You are doing great with your 5k program....you will be in you 10k in no time!! I am jealous...lol....good luck with finding your nutrition goals..its a hard balance ...I use fitness pal to log in all my food ...I used to use sparkspeople...they are both great and the really nice thing is you can eat real food in real life!

Thanks guys! :). I will have to look them up. I never thought of using an online food tracker. It's a good idea.

Today's workout
Warm up, run 2 mins - walk 3 mins x 8, cool down and stretch. Total 65 mins.

November 15. December 15. January 15
Weight 200 lbs. 195 lbs. 194 lbs
Bust/under 44/36. 43/34.5. 43/34
Waist 45. 45. 44.5
Hips 47. 46.5. 46.5
Thigh 26. 26. 26

All sounding good! I love how energetic your "rest" day is hahaha. 10lk is totally doable. If you can run 5 k, you can do 10. I was always really slow (1.5 hours for 10k) but really proud that this was exactly twice the time it took me to run 5k so I kept up the same pace all the way through.

Keep it up!

That's a great time jjjay! My best ever official 10k was just over a 1 hour 40 minutes but my speed is all over the map. I 'like' to run at 4 mph. Most calorie counting websites classify that as a brisk walk - lol!

Today's workout
Weight lifting DVD 1 hour.

Lots of sugar today - arg, my body doesn't like birthday party level sugar, but it sure tasted good at the time!

speed is relative, I run slow as well but it is the best my short legs can achieve. At least you have an official 10k time :)

When I do sprints on the treadmill...4 or 4.5 is pushing it...that really is my running...I am only 5'3 and legs to match...haha.

I agree...I have to hear all the time from my marathon runner co-worker about his 7 minute miles...and he looks at me like I am nuts when I was beyond excited to break the 13 minute mark! "OK fella...your a man....your 10 years younger and a foot taller"...if you didn't out run me ....that would be sad!! haha :)

Trusylver and tete - you are so right! Speed doesn't matter - the fact that I am doing it is awesome!! ;)

Today's workout
Run around gym with 3 yo playing 'football' 1 hour
Warm up, run 2 min - walk 2 min x 9, cool down (50 min) stretch

Felt good - the running was almost easy.

Thanks Q! Though I am hoping to obliterate booty! Lol. Oh dear, I'm tired and have a really poor sense of humour today. :eye roll:

Today's workout
Warm up, run 2 min - walk 2 min x 7, cool down and stretch (45 mins)

We have the flu at our house so it's a low exercise day. Kids can't sleep so that means I am up all night with them, then off to work and school. Yikes. Hope everyone gets better soon.

Today's workout:
Walk 1 hour 15 minutes

Way too cold outside today so we walked at the indoor track. I am starting to get blisters on the ball of my foot. I will need to find some good solutions so that I can train and race in comfort. Next week I will try my toe socks to see if they help on the long distance days.

Today's workout
Warm up 5 min, run 2 min-walk 3 min x 8, 15 min cool down, stretch.
Walks were at 3 mph and each run was at 5 mph. Woot woot!

I find that "second skin" works wonders for blisters, I use it at home but also keep a pack in my kit for work as well.
