Haha, Loch! I won't post anymore pics then until I reach my next goal! hehe :p


Oh, and my uncle was telling me one year about how the change in season can effect the way our body responds to food. Something to do about our caveman days when we hoarded and stored any food we could find since everything became so scarce during winter months. Apparently, it's some kind of survival mechanism and it becomes more difficult than usual to lose weight during the cold months.


I believe there's something to that because last year I plateaued as well. October was a hell of a month in 2010 for me. I barely lost 2lb the entire month which was frustrating for me. Although this plateau I'm currently stuck in is much worse, but I'm not really stressing it since I was in the 240's back then, and now I'm in the 180's

ASo...I decided I'm gonna kick myself in the ass to do something about my weight loss.

I liked answering questions, it gave me something to do, a reason to come on here rather than mundanely keeping track of calories. So, I'm going to answer questions. A new 30 day challenge. Maybe I'll keep doing it every month. Maybe people will find my answers amusing, interesting, or relating. Perhaps it'll spark discussions. Who knows? Anyway, I need to keep myself interested or I end up wanting to give up. Being human sucks.

I'm also going to give that EA Active 2 a go, finally. It's not going to be easy...but I bought the damn thing, I should use it. I'm hoping to start the challenge on it and stick to it. I'm just so sick of having no energy. I don't know what to do. Sometimes I barely have the strength to pull on my damn shoes.

Robert Downey Jr. He's an amazing actor, and he's really turned his life around. To go from drugs, and rehab, even jail to such a big star is amazing and inspirational. He's really smart, too. Sometimes I can barely understand his interviews lol. It's really nice to see him changing his life. It's not so different from those of us trying to get back on track when we lose hope, or give up on our own dreams. There are worse things in life, we could be in a worse place. I'm thankful for what I've accomplished so far, and I'm going to put all my dark days behind me.
 
Aday 2. one female celebrity you would like to meet?

Hmm, that's a tough one. Probably between Angelina Jolie and Natalie Portman. I really enjoy their movies, they're both very beautiful and successful.

Yesterday I had 1260 calories.

Weighed myself today, looks like I gained 1lb. That's better than gaining 3. Last night it was 226 so I was worried it would be up. If I stick to it I can turn this last week around.
 
Yep, always look at the positives when it comes to losing weight, Loch.


Sure it'll be difficult sometimes, but just know that it will come off and you'll want to do this slowly anyway to guarantee long-term success

AHi Loch...its seems like forever since I have been on your diary!! Its been a bad month all around this place as I read and get caught up!! I think we should call it SUCKTOBER...instead of October...hang in there buddy we will get through this crap of a season!! :) :) :)
 
AI've been feeling kind of sick lately...like sapped of energy, sleeping a lot, achy. I had a swollen lymph node in my left arm pit but it seems to be going away. In Feb I had one in my right arm pit, hopefully it's not connected. I might just be sick with a flu or something.

I hit 220, no clue how, but I weighed in at that this morning. I hope it doesn't go up lol. I've been staying at 1200-1300 last few days.

I'll start exercising again when I feel better. I barely even want to get out of bed lately.

I'm too lazy to do much else than update here once in a while, sorry I haven't visited anyones journals. I'm so blah...

ASore throat, busy at work, up and down days. Was at 222 today, but I could be retaining or something...Anyway, Monday I want to go to the gym and hit it 5x a week from there on. We'll see...

I'm doing alright :) thanks you guys

When you're feeling cruddy, I think your body holds on to things a little more carefully than usual. I know when I was sick just recently, it was a pain to try to lose anything. Although of course, that could've been because exercising felt nearly impossible :)


Hitting the gym that much sounds great, Loch! Just be careful and don't set yourself up for too much in the beginning

What kind of exercises are you planning to do? Try to ease into it as best you can so you don't get hurt or discouraged if you feel like you're unable to hold that routine down indefinitely. I know I sometimes get a little annoyed if I'm unable to run at a certain speed for a certain duration that I was able to before from day to day, but we're not machines. We do feel tired some days and it's fine to give yourself some breaks.

AWorst case scenario I'll go down to 3x a week. It's just curves, it's easy exercise, just going around the circuit of machines for half an hour. It's getting there that's the hard part. I may just take the bus there now that it's colder, rather than walk the 30 min there.

This cold is getting worse, my chest hurts :(. Sometimes when I get a sore throat it kind of goes away after a few days, but this one seems to be sticking. Ugh.

Sorry you're still under the weather, Loch. Have you tried Cepacol Lozenges by any chance? When I first started getting rough irritation in my throat, my roommate (a nurse) recommended I start taking those. They're really great for numbing your throat as well as providing another small bonus: I didn't feel like eating anything while I was on them! :biggrin:


I mean, they make your mouth/throat semi-numb and you can get them in various flavors. I chose Lime since, well.. green! heh

AI've had those before, I haven't had a chance to grab anything yet. My cold is worse, nights are the worst. I toss and turn, wake up 4 hours later with my throat hurting and finding it hard to breath. After I have some water and wait a bit I can get back to sleep, until it starts hurting again.

I'm supposed to see a movie tonight, "In Time", with an old-coworker who's back in town. I'll see how bad my cough is before I go...maybe I can just hold off on coughing until the loud action scenes lol.

I weighed in at 221 today, glad to know those 2lbs were just retention. I haven't gone to the gym...would probably be bad to exercise when I can't even breathe normally yet.

Funny thing...I get sort of weird sometimes, I dunno if it's OCD or what, but when it comes to decisions or whether or not I'll have a good day, I leave it up to fate. In that, for example, I pass a farm on the way to work 6x a week. I tell myself if I see one of the baby cows I'll have a good day. No clue why I do this, but, I always check for the baby cows (they're so damn cute!) Or, if I see my mom's car in the parking lot of her work, since I pass there too, and I HAVE to find it, I seriously obsess with that.

Last night I was going to buy a pizza from the place next to my work. I thought to myself, do I really need that? Then I thought, I'm sick, I totally deserve one. Then I decided, if someone posted in my journal (which I had already checked earlier that day), then I won't get the pizza (no one had posted it in it 2 days). Turns out you posted in it lol, so, it was just like that, I didn't want the pizza anymore. Instead, I got myself some bread sticks were are only 300calories. I ended up getting my calorie goal last night.

It's weird how I think like that...Oh, and, I have to listen to two specific songs in order before I get into work. I timed it so I can listen to them just before I get to my stop. If I don't, I freak out xD.

That sounds like mild OCD. I sometimes do that with things I listen to on my ipod at work. Like, I'll be listening to something from a movie, and right as one part ends and another begins, I have to reach a certain point on my route before that happens. It's strange, but if I don't manage to do it, I get a little bummed. I don't obsess over it though, but I do feel slight disappointment. So I know what you mean.

I'd try the cepacol if you can. Though I was still waking up constantly at night when I had my cold, similar to how you're feeling. It was like an intense burning sensation and anytime I swallowed, it hurt sooo bad. :)


I figured it was just retention weight!

See? You're fine, and when you get this cold knocked out, you're gonna be back to your usual rhythm and kicking butt! :biggrin:

Hey Loch, hope you're feeling better soon!!!! I'm a big Robert Downey Jr fan too, I remember watching him on Ally McBeal when I was a kid and there was this episode where he sang (what an amazing voice), and I was SO in love. Plus he was super awesome in Iron Man. Haha I really liked him in Sherlock Holmes too... he seems to have a pretty big personality that just comes out in movies. And he's damn sexy so that might have something to do with it :p


Congrats on the loss too- don't forget to take it a bit easier while you're sick, missing a few days of exercise is better than making yourself sicker or for a longer period of time! If you want to try something natural to kill it I've always found olive leaf extract to be amazing... also, if you can't breathe while you sleep, go to a pharmacy and grab a nasal spray. I have really bad sinuses and can't function without one if I have a cold!
