Hey everyone! I am back!! :) I used to have a journal here about a year and a half ago but I stoped dieting because of some stressful things that happened but I am finally ready to get back on track! Link to old Journal.

Ok so here I am now;
I am now 21 years old, still 5'4 and around 140 pounds.
My plan of attack is to use the weight watchers program. It is really the only thing that seems to work for me plus I am a lifetime member so its free. I still have many of the same challeneges, being in college, too much homework not enough time, etc. but I am going to study abroad next semester and so I really want to do this. It's now or never...

Questions:
How much weight do you want to lose?

15 - 20 pounds

What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
By Januaray, 2.5 months

How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
Eating better, working out more. Weight Watcher Program, I am allowed 21 points.

Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
I think just the fact that I am posting my info online for the world to see is a great motivator. It almost makes me feel responsible to make good choices.

How realistic is your goal?
I hope its realistic. I mean I know it will be difficult but I know it will be worth it in the end.

When will you start?
I started today. :)

Here goes nothing!!!

Day 1; October 11, 2010

Anyone not familiar with the WW program, basically every food is assigned a number of points. I am allowed 21 points a day but you also have to incorporate 5 servings of fruits and vegetables plus 2 servings of dairy. There are other restrictions too, but I don't follow them as strictly. I'll be going to the meetings every Tuesday nights so I'll post updates then.

Here's day 1:
Fruit/Veg
- Banana[0]
-Green Beans (3 servings)[0]
-1 cup Orange Juice[2]

Dairy

Just out of curiosity, have you tried also totting up how much your intake is in calories? I don't know much about weight watchers, but I know most people on the boards know about calories etc and could help you out.

Just a thought. Good luck.

Day 4; October 14, 2010

Ok so today was good. I was super busy so I wasn't thinking about food so much. I drove today since it was raining but I did still have dance practice so I guess it evens out. I plan to incorporate more exercise next week but this week was just so busy. I am going to visit my family this weekend. A little nervous about the eating situation but I am going to try my best. Two of the days I work double shifts so I'll be fine those days. Anyways here's my day:

Fruit/Veg
Nectarine - 60
OJ - 110
1 Cup Grapes - 110

Dairy
-1 slice of cheese - 70

Hmm, that doesnt seem healthy

I assume you're a woman, apologies if not; but that's definately not healthy. While you will lose weight, it won't be healthy and you'll lose it too quickly (which is just as bad). Also when you start eating more "normally" after the diet, you'll find you'll put the weight back on because your body has gone through a prolonged period of having not enough food so it thinks "shit, I better store this food while I can" and turns it straight into fat and you put alot of weight on.

The prime case is what "normal/average" weight people eat. People look at them and think "how can you eat that and stay thin". But it's because they have a balanced diet which includes some bad things ALL the time. if you try and crash diet, it confuses your body.

Another suggestion (I'm basically telling you what to do here, SORRY! :D); try breaking what you eat down into actual meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner etc (instead of food groups). Then perhaps people can suggest to you an extra bit of something to have with what you already eat.

From having a little look (and assumption) of when you eat, it doesn't look like you're having a HEARTY enough breakfast. Eating as soon as you wake up really gets your metabolism going and stops you having to snack between meals. It's got to the point for me personally where a banana and porridge is completely enough for me to survive on until lunch time.

You need to try and have some protein everyday too.

Love to hear your thoughts on this stuff.

Thank you for your advice.

Yes I am a woman. I agree with you about the categories, I will change them into meals because that's what I had in my old Journal and I think I liked that better anyways. I was just doing that so I could keep track of how many servings I had/still need.

However, my BMI is compeltey healthy for my age and height. I consider myself one of those "normal" people you speak of. I don't know if you read the first post of my Journal or not but I am only trying to lose 10 - 15 pounds.

Also, I dont consider weight watchers to be a crash diet. I don't really think that they would have this program running all around the nation if it was that unhealthy. Second of all, I have been on the program in the past and lost 20 pounds (and kept it off). I have a note from my doctor allowing me to be on this program

Breakfast... I have never been a breakfast person. I always feel nauseous when I eat first thing in the morning. I have been drinking a cup of Orange Juice and a piece of fruit in the mornings lately which is an improvement so i'll stick with that for now.

Well if you aren't looking to lose weight, why are you having half the calories you need? :)

I used to have your problem with breakfast, but after a while I just got used to it. That's horrible advice "JUST DO IT", but honestly it works, start with little by little and eventually you'll be able to eat a proper breakfast. It really will help.
