Tae Bo, Does It Work??

lol google it its awesome i do it every other day. keeps me happy then i hit the weights hard in between. lol it pays off i look and feel better than i ever have and i can carry patients twice my weight no prob i am working up to that 350 lbs with ease deal thats in my sig. its great i guess i am an animal lmao who knew!!! seriously google tae bo and do it, its great. i love billy hehe
 
Tae bo is one of the best cardio workouts out there. I do the advanced tape a couple times a weak and an hour of Billy Blanks is brutal.
 
Most martial artists are too busy kissing their sifu's asses and not really learning anything useful, all the while believing their style is better than every style ever created.

Anything that gets you moving when you'd be otherwise stationary tends to have benefit. Exercise has no gender, if you have no pride. Honestly I've seen a lot of guys at cardio kickboxing classes. Tae bo is no different. Billy Banks just likes to surround himself with a plethora of sweating women.

oh I agree with this. Most martial artists are very conceited about their own style. I was on a forum at one time when this subject came up, and every response was anti tae bo, hence my statement. I've never tried it, I probably would if I had the opportunity.
 
It's basically a cardio kickboxing class that you follow on video. I can say I've tried this type of thing once or twice...it's pretty fun and gets you working hard. Can't ask for much more.
 
lol i love tae bo for cardio, its fun and challenging. got my girlie figure back after my boys from that. and keeps me in shape now, with my weights and tae bo i have stayed the same size since i was 16. thats good.
 
Can anyone recommend a specific Tae Bo video? There are several to choose from, so I am a bit confused. I am looking for a good cardio workout.
 
TAE-BO ROCKS!!! Every winter I do my tapes to keep me toned and in cardio shape for cycle season in spring.The key to not getting bored w/ the tapes is getting several of them.He does diff exercises in each of them,w/ a variety of music.They are challenging and fun no matter HOW many times you do the tapes!
 
All I can say is an old 'acquaintance' of mine does Tae-Bo...she was in average shape before starting it.

After about 3 months, she looked absolutely amazing. But she did start earting a little healthier too.

And when I say amazing, I mean....well, nevermind, I gotta go visit an old 'friend'.
 
billy blanks is one bad mutha ****er, no but seriously. tae bo is a decent cardio/muscular endurance workout. but it seems more like a well rounded marketing scheme, i mean he must have made millions by now, anyway. i think 30 mins of martial arts, running or heavybag work is way more efficient. but hey even i have a tae bo dvd, lol.
 
As a martial artist of 13 years I can say that tae bo is crap!

You shouldnt be punching over and over and over if you dont know how to punch, you'll destroy your elbows and your shoulders and your knees.

Tae bo could work, but only if your a good martial artist 1st. I think he is a prat for introducing tae bo, Billy blanks was a great sports fighter, but its compleatly irisponsable to tell begginers to kick and punch fast and rhythmicaly with no previous training.

If you wanna learn to fight, then take classes, if you wanna get fit, there are much more efficient ways of doing it.
 
Why are those of you who "do martial arts" for "x number of years", etc., talking about how Tae Bo is "crap"? Honestly, it has almost NOTHING to do with martial arts in the sense of learning to be "Karate Kid". It's a good workout video for those who are wanting to get a good cardio workout from the convenience of their home, or with friends, etc.! Just because it throws in some "martial art" moves, doesn't mean it should be compared with going to a dojo and learning karate, ju-jitsu, etc.! I mean, seriously, don't make yourself look like an e-Tard by talking about how crappy it is. I did it a few times a few years ago when it first came out and let me tell you, as someone who was *very* active (Wrestling, basketball, football, etc.), it was a very good cardio workout if you do it right and stick with it. In fact, I think now I will go back to it during the week while I'm at home as it's hard to get to the gym sometimes!
 
Tae bo is crap for the same reason you shoudn't lift weight to music.

When your doing something that put any joint under pressure it should be done with the upmost concentration. tae bo may be fun, it may be good exercise, but its bad for your joints.

If you want to get fit dont just throw your arms out in from of you 1000times in a punching fashion as you will not be able to punch properly (safely) this will bugger your elbows and shoulders. plus karate involves a lot of stepping out with the front or rear foot to gain a 45degree angle, we do practise this, but it is not a natural movment for our bodys to be repeating over and over and can cause knee and foot.
repetitive kicking can put stress on the knees, feet (if a begginer is not trained to land properly) and lower back due to thrusting the hips forward.
 
billy blanks is amazin..:D ..i swear by it.....i was 16 1/2 stone 2 yrs ago a size 24 :( :cool,,,,im now a toned 11 and a size 12.....with doing his is workout.....so i say....GIVE IT GO ITS GOOD A GREAT FUN........:cool:

Hi......tae bo is great....its energetic....u sweat loads,,,it gets ya heart rate going to which is needed in any form of excersise....also to the question somebody posted saying its crap and can hurt your joints it does not..........the tae bo exspert billy blanks shows u hw to control your punches and kicks...so this does not happen......try it folks its flippin fantastic......:D
