SweatPea is going to sweat it all off...

Today as stated above, I helped a friend paint her shed. It took under 4 hrs to get it done, so not as bad as my "barn". I was just putting the finishing touches on my barn and that took an hour and a 1/2!

She took me out to lunch for "payment" and I tried to be good, I really did.

I did look up the cals for a panini and they are quite high, but I really did work the booty today. Because once I got home, I just had a small salad, then decided since I was still stinky and sweaty that I would just go hop on the elliptical. Got in 40 min! So not only did I do almost 4 hours of painting, but I also got on the elliptical!!!! :jump:

I don't know what happened to that pound, because this morning when I stepped on the scale, I was up again. :sigh: I didn't even eat that much at all???

I know I shouldn't worry about it, but I do. Of course weighing every day helps to keep me on track.

Water was great - cause I had to down a bunch after being in the hot sun all day! :d

HI SweatPea,
Oh, the scale monsters...
Good for your 40 min elliptical. That thing is hard, 40 min did burn off a lot of calories!!
Keep up the momentum and motivation...
Have a great day tomorrow.

Thanks Hajni! I didn't go as fast as I normally do, but I guess that was to be expected after working on a shed for 4 hrs!

I didn't get to post in my journal yesterday. Right when I was going to do it, the internet connection was lost. I don't know if dh was messing around with it or what... but then I realized I had to leave for my Master Gardening class - and I had to leave early because I had to return a game to the video store.

Anyway, yesterday I got in 40 min. on my Total Trainer. It's like a total gym, only different. LOL I used to be able to get things done at level 17 - now had to start out at level 10!!!! Oops. When I work out on the total trainer I do the workouts as suggested by BFL - that way it's not "boring" and you keep challenging yourself.

So, goofy me decided to do 30 min. on the elliptical after that. Ha! I felt great, and am not sore. Only one of my arms is a little sore, but I might not have stretched it out good enough after the workout.

Today my plan is to do a yoga workout and get out the ab slider - the other day when I did the ab slider, I didn't think it worked much except for my shoulders. But then for 3 days afterwards I felt it in my abs and my sides.... :D

Eating has been good - no great! However, I don't know what's going on because I'm up instead of down. :( I'm hoping it all disappears by tomorrow mornings weigh-in for the challenge.

Drinking water has been great too. I'm just hoping I don't float away....

Earlier this week I went down one pound, today was the "official" weigh-in for the challenge, and I'm right back where I started.

At least it's not a gain, I guess. But geesh - eating so little - compared to what I used to (probably over 2000 cals. per day to now less than 1700 per day.) And exercising - which before was closer to nill. I need to figure out the balance.

It's always been hard for me to lose weight -- why is it so easy to gain it!!!

Yesterday I did 25 reps on the ab slider and did a 40 min. yoga workout. I also stained a window (pella real wood window frame.) And lost nothing...nada...zilch.

Ugh! So I guess I will go down right now and get on the elliptical for 20 min. then the treadmill for 20 more. I'm so "depressed" - not in the literal sense of course.

HI SweatPea,
The fact that you saw a smaller number (1lb down) during the week means you probably did lose it and you could just have extra water retention today. I weigh myself everyday and I see the ups and downs all the time. Like last week I was 158.6 and 158.4 the whole week, every day, came my weigh in day and I weighed in at 159.2 How Mad that made me!!!! It could be extra salt...etc.
Keep on working on it, don't let it deter you. Let it give you extra motivation for the next week. Try to change things up a bit. Maybe start with calorie counting. I know I always underestimate my calories when I dont actually look them up.
Even there was no loss this week, you made some awesomely healthy lifestyle changes this past week and your body will thank you for it in the long run
Keep it up girl!!
Hajni

Hey Chicka!
So sorry you didn't see on the scale what you wanted. But Hajini is right. You most likely are still down that pound you saw earlier this week. I mean the scale can always go crazy up but never crazy down. It did it to me earlier this week to. Weighed in at the 217.6 on Tuesday morning and then didn't see that number again until Friday morning. There's always something that could be effecting it. Trust me I was beginning to think that I made that number up! :rotflmao:
So be proud of yourself. You worked hard this week and kicked some serious "boo~tay" :beerchug: Celebrate the fact that you held your own!

I am so very proud of you and all the effort that you are putting into getting healthy!!!!!

Thanks Hajni,

I do calorie count on sparkpeople. I love that site. Thanks for the encouragement. I know I shouldn't get down, but I wanted the weight to be low for the challenge. Oh well there is next weeks weigh-in. Oh and I did have a salty snack last night, so you're probably right about the salt.

Bell, you know you are very funny! That scale is crazy no matter what it does. :flame:

I think I probably need to batten the food down a little more, I don't know. We'll see. I know for me it's really hard to lose weight once I get to a certain point. When I was a lot heavier, it came off easier. Not easily, just easier. Then, I got to like 175 or something like that and it wouldn't budge until I worked out like a mad woman.

I just don't want to have to focus sooooo much on working out like a mad woman, but I guess if that's what it takes that's what I'll have to do.

So for exercise today I got in 20 min. on the elliptical and then 40 min. on the treadmill. The treadmill mode was "fat burner" so basically it just kept my hear rate at a constant 116 - it would adjust the speed if I went too low or too high. It wasn't a hard workout, just long.

I've been drinking water like crazy.

So far today my food has been:

Breakfast:
peanut butter toast on ww reduced cal bread

Lunch:
south beach diet beef w/ broccoli roll-up (it didn't look too appeasing and tasted, just ok.)
1/2 of a sweet potato w/ smart balance, splenda, and cinammon on top. (mmm!)

Water so far: 48 oz.

I used to do fat burn mode on the machines all the tie and have recently changed to "cardio" mode. I don't know if I'll see a difference, but here's hoping. Let me know how it turns out for you. :)

Today was my day of rest. And boy did I need it. I came home after church and took a nap. I had a headache too - and when I woke up it was gone.

Today I got in 30 min. on the elliptical. It was after 9 am, and I hadn't eaten breakfast yet. It was really hard to get thru the whole workout. I'm going to make sure to eat before working out the next time.

For some reason I've been famished today. I'm sure I have enough protein, but it doesn't seem to satisfy my hunger today. ???

I'm still keeping up with my water too.

Hey SweatiePea~
I've done that before and flet like crap before it was all said and done.
Keep it up!!!
Your doing great!

HI SweatPea,
Congrats on keeping track with your exercise!! Your food choices are healthy, keep going girl and you will see the scale catch up!!
I usually eat something 2-3 hrs before I exercise. If I eat too close to exercising I get nauseous in the middle of it.
I have an Heart Rate Monitor and I go by that, I try to keep my heart anywhere between 120-150 the whole time. Sometimes walking 3.6 mi/hr on the treadmill doing it just fine and sometimes I have to run to get my heart rate up that high. I think it just depends on my energy level. LOL
keep on track SweatPea and we will rock the halloween challenge!!
Hajni

Keep it up girl!

I'm a girl from the 80's, and a music buff so I'm always quoting movie lines and song lyrics. One of the ones in my head if from Cory Hart- the guy who did "I wear my sunglasses at night". His other hit has this line :
"With a little perserverance you can get things done . . . .Never Surrender". (its one of many weight loss theme songs I use for motivation)

You Can Do IT!

Thanks everyone for all the encouragement!

I am chatting with Bell on the phone - she can't live without me! LOL

I just got finished with my workout. I did the Xbox Your Fitness workout. I guess I've had it since March of 2005 (cause that's the date it started keeping track of my progress.)

I haven't used the program in a long time - it really kicked my butt. I just get tired of all the jumping jacks, though I'm sure they are good for me!

I updated my food log from yesterday - and I was over 1900 cals!!!! No wonder my scale was up today. :(
