Suzaku's Diary.

Hi, I'm Suzaku. I'm 18 yrs old and when I joined, May 14th, I am 12 stones (170lbs). I figured a journal might help me, too.

A little about me; I'm 5'4, work at Sonic, eat very little candy, drink very little soda, do little exercise (till now). I was pregnant for a month and four days, and in that time I gained 20lbs and about 2 1/5 inches (maybe 3) all over my lower body. I used to do gymnastics as a kid, so I know a bunch of stretches and small exercises that help slim the body, its just being motivated and having the energy to do them.

I'm also doing this weight loss thing for my mother. She's 60, 5'2, and also 12 stones (170lb), but hers is in her stomach. I want to work on my body, so that she will too, as I want her to be as healthy as possible in her older life...

Right now, my goal for us is to loose inches from our problem spots by June 7, as its my cousins wedding (Her brother's son), and I know her side of the family would love to see her loose weight and be feeling great.

I've worked four days so far, since I signed up, at 6 to 7 hours a day, running the kitchen at work, Sonic... Not a big thing really, until rush comes, we get like five rushes a night (sometimes more, if the Car Night guys show up, about 40-50 people for about 2 1/5 to 3 hours at a time), not sure how mornings are, I close. That also means I do all the dishes, I scrub and mop the floors, clean the grill, and stock everything.

I do a little exercise a day, a little more now that I have kittens to chase around. I'm planning on starting roller blading soon, and maybe I'll find a close dog park, see if my dog likes it. Can't walk him in the neighborhood, to many evil little dogs and mean rottweilers, they'd attack him.

I went to the flea market Sunday, walked the whole thing. Took about 2 hours and 45 minutes. I plan on going every weekend, or at least every other weekend.

~~~~~~~~~~~
I would like to ask people if they have recipes that would help, so that my mother and I can still eat yummy foods, (cheap please, I'm the only one working and on an income of 6.79/hour, my dad makes just enough to pay the bills and put gas in the Big-Truck so he can work) and be eating healthy at the same time.
Thats one problem with our weight, we can't afford much, so we usually just make sandwiches and if my dad makes a little extra, we make a couple meals a day for a few days. Also I'd like recipes that will be good for my dad, as he can't exercise, or go on walks, due to a bad knee... He's 5'8 (or 5'9) and probably over 200lbs. Its all in his stomach and bottom. I was thinking, if I can get him to eat healthy, loose a little from eating better, he might be able to do a little exercise.. I know if he looses weight it will be better for his knee...
Thanks everyone, I don't mean to throw all this out there, but putting it in writing helps my realize what needs to be done, in turn making it easier for me to make it happen.
I decided, as I used to dance all the time and was smaller when I was, that I will dance as part of my exercise. A little over an hour in songs, most of it I'll be dancing, some of it singing, as singing is also a workout and causes calorie burning. Hopefully soon I can sing and dance to all of it for a good workout.
Also, dancing is something I enjoy, so I will always want to do it and I will remember to do it, too.
Inch down!
I gained a lb back since last time I weighed myself, but oh well, I lost an inch on my tummy since I started dancing. ^.^ Yay! Also a half in down on my thigh, and almost a half inch down on my bottom. Its incouraging. I know that if I keep it up, I'll loose more inches and weight too.
Ok, 9 days later, I missed some time on my Diary...
Well, I've joined the Accountability Contest, its been a week and I've drank my over 80oz a day (half your weight in ounces) weekly challenge, I've been keeping up my exercise. So far I've lost 10-12 pounds in 16 days (since I started keeping track) and an encouraging amount of inches for me. I've lost 4.5 inches off my waist, 1.5 off my thighs, and 3.5 off my hips. It makes me feel so good.
For now my plan is to keep up with the Accountability Contest and add more exercise. Right now I do indoor walking variations I found in a magazine, belly dancing to and hour and a half of music (usually 45-65 mins actually dancing fully, the rest just dancing in my char -.-'', hoping to work more on that), and I want to add push ups to work on my upper arm and then something to work on abs.
I got a powder you add to your water called Slimquick, which I feel is helping. Its funny, my dad is drinking them, and they're a woman's hormone balancer and dietary suppliment... Hehe, if it works, there may be questions to ask, LOL, JK. I hope it helps him, he's 80-100lbs over weight. My mom can't drink them, they make her sick, so I'm hoping learning belly dancing might help her.
5 days later.
I am going to try and update every few days now. Yay, Saturday is my cousin's wedding. Makes me happy that he found a woman who makes him happier than anything. I finally get to see him, my uncle, and my two girl cousins... and all of their families.
I've got both of my parents trying to better themselves. My dad is trying dietary supplements to help, since he's got a bad knee. My mom is doing indoor walking variations and trying some dancing in her room. It makes me happy that they are taking better care of themselves.
I've been keeping up my challenges for the Accountability Contest and its been helping a lot. My boyfriend is helping keep me focused, even though he keeps telling me that I don't need it, he is so wonderful and sweet. I want smaller pants, I may not NEED to lose the weight, but SMALLER PANTS and BIKINIS... Hehe... Once I think its more noticeable I'll add my before and now pictures, but right now its not too noticeable. My stomach is a little noticeable I guess. Really, I do need to lose weight, as I'm about 50lbs overweight for my age and height.
Heya, thought I would check out your diary! Congrats on the 12 pounds down so far. Have you guys considered taking walks or something as a family? It seems like you all get along pretty well. That would be a nice thing to do.. even if it is just once or twice a week. I can relate to your father a bit.. I had three knee surgeries over Christmas time, and knee problems are NOT FUN... but there are still little things that can be done to help better weight while there are knee problems present.
Keep up the good work!
Hi hi. ^.^ My mom and I have been thinking about biking or hiking the neighborhood, but my dad can't walk for more than a few minutes before his knee acts up. He's actually about to get knee surgery again as his leg is failing due to the pain. Maybe once he gets the surgery he might be able to start walking.
Thanks for the idea though, I will try to get my mom to walk or bike with me once or twice a week. ^.^ Also, Thank you on the congrats.
Hi sweetie, just popping in on you to see how you're doing :). Dont forget there are some healthy foods that are quite cheap. Like dry beans that you cook yourself in some water, brown rice, eggs, oatmeal, whole grain pasta w/ tomato sauce made out of can stewed tomatoes (mash with potato masher) and add seasonings. Maybe try to limit the overly processed stuff, which is often not any cheaper than some whole foods.
:)
I came by to say hello. I see you are in the birthday challenge! I look forward to seeing you reach your goals. : )
So far you are doing amazing! Well done!!
Hey guys, LONG time since I've posted. I've been really busy and having a few problems...
Well it started when my computer acted up, I couldn't keep up with the accountability contest. I tried keeping up with the water, which wasn't too hard. I kept doing my dancing to keep some exercise going.
Then I had to leave my job at Sonic because they hired a girl who kept threatening me with the fryer baskets. I then couldn't keep up my extra exercise, and my dancing cut down some.
I started working at Subway, with was okay, except that I was working EVERY night, not getting enough sleep and ended up in the ER twice because of being the only one of shift every night closing...
I got out of the job because I finally got tired of it, after being a manager for a few days, and having to work twice as hard. I started working Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens (Florida).
Working Howl-O-Scream rocked, only problem I had was I was attacked by a guest and broke a finger. I had even bought myself a new pair of black pants the first day of work (End of Sept), and by the end (Nov.1) the pants went from too tight to too loose.
Sadly I went through depression last week. My 7yr old dog had to be put down, as he was hit by a car about a month before, and the leg therapy wasn't helping... I'm going to be getting much more exercise, as my dad got me a puppy to train.
I started a date line for my weight loss. I weigh myself and do my measurements every so often, and keep track of them with the date line...
10-15-08 I was 178lbs... As of today 11-11-08, with minimal exercise (other than Howl-O-Scream) I now weigh 165lbs... I thought my weight either would have stopped at 168 or raised again...
With the puppy about, I'm going to be doing a lot. He's an inside dog right now as it is too cold, but that means I have to take him out about three or four times a day, and there is a LOT of rough housing, as he is teething and very energetic. When I'm not resting because of him, or rough housing with him, I am going to try and throw in crunches or push ups.... or something...
Wow, I love my puppy so much! It's tiring taking care of him, but so worth it!
He is super energetic, sweet, cat-friendly, and is so easy to train. He has already learned 'Sit', 'Lay', to go to the door when he needs to 'Potty', that he can't go out without his leash, and loves spending time with all three of us.
He has his favorite kitten, the runt, she's like the size of a two month old kitten, when she's like four or five months... He's learning 'Gentle', since he knows she's tiny, and that since he's part Pitt that he could hurt her.
He has this cute stuff bunny that is his sleep toy. Its his pillow and his comfort, just like his blanky.
Oh, he does sleep in his crate, which is his safe spot. Which is cute when he gets scared and just runs in to hide in his crate.
Ares is only part Pitt, we think he is part Mastiff, since he is so huge for barely 10 & 1/2 weeks. He's about 15 lbs, which is pretty big for a puppy, a little high for a Pitt puppy, but close to the size of a Mastiff puppy... So that kind of makes our thoughts a little more solid.
My pretty kitty, Miss Priss, isn't too happy that Ares has stolen my room from her.. So she's been staying outside, but I got her to come in tonight, and they ate out of the same bowl, so that makes me happy.
Oh, yeah, I've gotten better sleep since Monday... Ares wears me out and we sleep at the same time, so he doesn't keep me up. We wake about the same time, so he doesn't have that much of a chance to have an accident.
I feel I've lost a couple pounds just running around with him.. ^_^
