Susan's Diary

This is the first day of the rest of my life! I'm 43 years old, 5'7", 240 lbs and I want to lose 90 lbs to get to my goal of 150. I am keeping track of my calories and exercise on . Can't wait to be healthier with all of you!!

I Blew It

It's only January 6th and I have completely blown it already. I don't know how I'll ever stick to a diet because even though I allowed myself a generous 2100 calories a day (according to fitday) which I thought would make it easier to stick to since it will take me about a year to lose the 90 extra lbs of fat I have on my body, yet even with that, I could not do it! I think I am more in the habit of eating 3000 or more calories a day and when I cut myself off at 2100 and even added in exercise with weights and the eliptical, I just can't go to bed at night and not get back up and eat. I'm not used to going to bed without that very full feeling. After 2 or 3 days of dieting, I had an out of control binge and then have been eating anything I want for the last couple of days to try to stabilize myself. I don't know how to resist the temptation to eat when I've reached my daily limits and I'm concerned about how cutting back leads me into these out of control binges. The alternative is to live with this fat the rest of my life and likely end up with diabetes and other heath issues as a result, not to mention that I can't move around comfortably and I feel like crap. I know there is no magic pill and that it comes down to calorie restriction and exercise, but does anyone know how to stick with a lower calorie diet when you're not used to it and you're totally addicted to eating more. PLEASE HELP - I'm desperate.

Back on track!

Okay everyone, I am doing better! I'm back on fitday and keeping the "calories eaten" lower than the "calories burned" each day. Exercising too! See you all soon.

Stick in there! Just keep with the diet, you may have your slip ups, but you'll gain that control eventually. Try to eat all throughout the day to keep your hunger at bay. Lots of water and fruit! :)

Make sure youre eating enough, unless of course youre burning 2100 calories a day. Stay safe and keep going!
