SunnyDee's Diary

I did much better today. I tried to eat throat-friendly foods and it worked out pretty well. My throat felt better later in the day. But I made the mistake of going to a hockey game this evening and now it's bad again. It was the coldest stadium I've ever been in. Brrr! I didn't shout or cheer, but just the coldness was enough to barbarize my poor throat all over again.

Breakfast: Special K Red Berries cereal (which I had to let go mushy. Blech!)w/ skim milk & orange juice
Snack: Grape popsicle
Lunch: Fruit smoothie (banana, clementine, container of nectarine yogurt, splash of orange & grape juice, ice cubes)
Snack: Granola bar
Supper: Chicken stir-fry & a clementine

I've had a sore throat too! What the heck. It felt better today, but it is raw again tonight! Hope you get to feeling better!!:)

When I get a sore throat, I take a couple of echinacea's and a couple of vitamin c's, and call it quits. Usually I wake up feeling a lot better.

Thanks everybody. You're all so sweet. :) I'm feeling considerably better this evening. I felt terrible this morning, so I didn't go to my clinical placement. I spent the day reading and watching TV. So... the exercise has been pretty minimal the past few days. I'll have to work extra hard when I'm feeling well again.
Breakfast: Special K Red Berries cereal w/ skim milk & orange juice
Lunch: Clementine
Snack: 1 1/2 servings of Ritz crackers (actually the generic brand equivalent)
Supper: Grilled chicken, canned corn, vegetable fried rice

Despite the fact that I haven't been taking the best care of myself the past few days, I'm pretty sure I haven't suffered any gains. One pair of my jeans is officially too big to wear anymore and my favorite dress pants are also too loose, but I can still get away with wearing them for a little while. Oh, and I've worn a pair of jeans that I hadn't worn in months! It's exciting. :D

Definitely on the mend!

I'm feeling soooo much better today! The past few days it would kill me to walk even short distances (like to/from school) because I felt so awful. By the time I got where I was going, I'd be huffing and puffing and just want to flop over. But today I have a ton of energy! Maybe a little more than usual at some points during the day! *dances like a maniac* My throat is still scratchy and hoarse and I'm still coughing, but I feel better inside. I'll be back into my exercise routine in no time. Maybe I'll be able to hit the gym tomorrow.

Breakfast: Banana
Lunch: Mac & Cheese
Snack: Blackberry yogurt
Supper: Spinach salad w/ balsamic vinaigrette and bowl of strawberries

I haven't skipped going to the gym ,but it takes all I can do to keep going. And I come home drained! Hope to have more energy tomorrow. Been trying to take care of myself including taking a nap! LOL:D Gald you are feeling better!:)

Mechelle, you're amazing. I can't imagine trying to hit the gym when I was feeling sick. Actually, I was a bad girl and didn't go today either. I went for a walk last night, which I hadn't planned to do so I don't feel TOO guilty about skipping the gym today. I hope to get another walk in tonight. If not, I'll have to go walking tomorrow even though it's Friday. Trying to get a decent walk in is horrible! It hasn't snowed in the past few days, but the sidewalks weren't plowed very well to begin with. They weren't plowed bare, so there was still a layer of hard snow on them and now all that snow has been trampled, so it's just a soft slushy mess. I'm soon gonna buy my own snow-plow and get to work!

Here's my food for today
Breakfast: Raisin & Almond Granola w/ skim milk and orange juice
Snack: Banana
Lunch: Lean Cuisine meat lasagna
Supper: Grilled chicken, green peas, roasted mini potatoes & mushrooms

Hmmm...it kind of sounds like running/walking on the beach (only, um, cold) ;)

I don't think I'd be doing it either really!

Remember, diet plays a MUCH bigger factor in weight loss then exercise.

hey SunnyDee...was wondering what is clementine?

Hope you are feeling better, I started getting sick yesterday and it SUCKS! :)

I did get to the gym today! LOL I just can't stay away!:D
I worded my sentence badly. Yes, I know you went. I meant 'either' referring to myself. As in, "I didn't go when I was sick, but I didn't go today when I was well either." I'm confusing myself! lol Anyway, the point is that I was a lazy bum when I was sick and you just rock my world!

I never thought of it that way! Maybe I'll throw on my swimsuit and pretend I'm on the beach next time. Brr! You're right, diet does play a more significant role in weight loss. But I want to tone up and get in better shape as well. I'm also not sure if I'm doing great with the diet. Does it look alright to everyone? I'm losing weight, so I suppose that's proof.

A clementine is a delicious little orange fruit! It's a variety of mandarin. It's generally much smaller than an orange, but similiar overall. If you want something a little more tart than an orange, a clementine is perfect! I love them.

I forgot to tell the story of my sweet craving last night. I went to the grocery store and every sweet chocolatey thing was calling out to me. So I went to the pharmacy section and bought a diabetic chocolate graham bar. It was great! It was low cal, low fat and sugarfree. I only ate half, since that was enough to satisfy my craving, but I'm sure a whole one wouldn't hurt anybody.

Haha. Thank you, Star. It feels really good. :D

This is just a quick one because I'm about to head out for a walk. Just for the record, if anyone has any suggestions on anything I could be doing differently with regards to my diet, I warmly welcome any advice. I don't like to think that I'm eating too many or too few cals or eating things that just aren't helping. I made the mistake of drinking 2 cups of tea last night. I never drink tea, so the caffeine kept me up until 3 am... I'm such a wimp. lol

Breakfast: Special K Red Berries w/ skim milk and pineapple peach mango juice
Lunch: Cold plate
Snack: 2 Bran Crunch biscuits
Supper: Chicken sandwich on whole wheat, 20 g raisins, peach yogurt

Food looks good to me! I have a hard time with that so I really can't give advice there. Hope you have a great weekend!:)

Pot Luck!

I forgot to mention the upcoming potluck in any of my posts this week. Well, now it's over so it's no long upcoming. Haha. My best friend and I hosted a pot luck last night. And we made it a semi-formal affair, although most people (myself included) went all out and wore really fancy stuff. There were a lot of people there, which means a LOT of food. And being the host, I felt it was my duty to try and sample everyone's dish... I didn't actually get around to it because there was just too much food. I was VERY pleased to see that most people brought healthier type stuff. I figured there would be a ton of casseroles and other cheesy, greasy type things. But there were only 2 dishes like that! There were a lot of desserts too, but I only tried three of them and ate itty bitty little pieces. And two of the ones I ate were low-fat recipes! I love my health-conscious friends. I was definitely too full by the end of the evening. I knew I would end up overeating, so I'm not surprised. I do feel guilty and I'm scared because I'm supposed to weigh myself tomorrow. I hope I didn't do too badly. I've done well all week, so I'd be really mad if one night fooled all of that up. I won't bother trying to list out all of what I ate because it would take forever! ("A spoonful of potato casserole, a tiny chunk of pork roast, a ladleful of chili, etc." hahaha)
Well, I have a ton of work today and I'm sort of hoping to go to the pool later, if I can convince Matt to come with me. Can't wait!

Weigh-in day

I weighed myself this morning. Only down 0.6 lb. I'll admit I was disappointed, but I'm trying to spank myself into realizing that I only intended to lose 3-5 lbs per month. Any more than that and I just know I'll put it right back on. So I'm still on track and there's no need to fret.
I found this amazing chicken & red pepper pizza at the grocery store! It's low-cal and reduced fat. It's from the healthy choices menu, so I kinda thought "Pizza from the healthy choices menu...? That's GOT to be crap." But it's delicious! I bought a pack of two 4-slice pizzas. 2 slices = 250 cals.

Breakfast: Raisin & almond granola w/ skim milk and orange juice
Lunch: Fruit salad w/ 1 tbsp vanilla yogurt
Snack: 2 Bran Crunch biscuits & pineapple peach mango juice
Supper: 2 slices chicken & red pepper pizza and 1/2 clementine
