SunnyDee's Diary

Girl, in MY book, 40 minutes of shovelling snow COUNTS!!

Think, you have to burn extra calories just trying to stay warm! And no, I'm NOT kidding! LOL!

You're doing so well SunnyDee - I'm sure the weigh in will go great :)

It is sooooo cold out today. I had my first day at my community placement (which is at an HIV/AIDS centre) and the bus was late... leaving me waiting at the bus stop for almost 15 mins in the freezing cold. Made me quite sad. Anyway, now I'm home and have to leave again in 2 hrs to walk to school in the cold. Booo! So unfortunately, there will be no walk for me today. I was looking forward to going for a walk because I didn't get any exercise in yesterday. I suppose that's not entirely true... I did do about 40 mins of shovelling. Haha.
I'm hoping to weigh myself tomorrow. The batteries gave out in my scale about 2 months ago and I have yet to replace them. So the only time I get to weigh myself is at Matt's. I'm hoping I'm a little closer to 165! *crosses fingers* Everybody hope on my behalf! I've done very well with the food so far (no junk food since the Dorito incident and continuing with the small portions) but I could be doing better with exercise. Well, we'll see what the scale has to say about it all. I'm hoping to move that ticker! It looks as though I'm slacking off becuse the ticker doesn't move, but that's just because I rarely get to weigh myself. lol

gradual weight loss is the only perminant weight loss, so be proud that those 3lbs are perminant :) as long as you keep what your doing up ...

there are many ways to find different sources of exercise.... if you have to you could do exercises with soup cans, and using your own body as its resistance.... floor exercises are always good as well... every day counts! :) I noticed you live in canada, and thats probably why its too cold to go out and walk today... I used to run in place and watch tv, and sometimes do jumping jacks in between... when I didn't have a gym membership I would go in my garage and do pushups situps, bodyweight squats, I would lift objects in my garage.. that kind of stuff.... if theres a will theres a way! :)

Still didn't get to weigh

Did anyone realize I said I was probably only gonna write in this once a week? Haha. Looks like I'm a little more hooked than I had anticipated.

Yeah, I'll have to agree with you on that one. It certainly gets your heart pumping. Whew!

I agree. As I said before, I only make changes I know I can stick to for the long run. I'm happy with the progress I've made and will continue to make! And thanks for the home exercise tips.

I didn't get to Matt's place after (or to Wal-Mart for batteries!) so I didn't get to weigh myself today. I'm pretty sure I've lost a couple of pounds though. I'll get to see soon enough. I'm heading out in the cold again in a few mins to hit the gym. I'm posting my food for the day as well. Only breakfast & lunch have actually been eaten yet. The rest is what's planned for the rest of the day.

Breakfast: Special K Red Berries cereal w/ skim milk and a glass of apple juice
Lunch: Low cal Penne Pollo frozen dinner (which is surprisingly delicious) and a banana
Snack: mixed fresh fruit (peach, pear, strawberries, grapes)
Supper: Chicken quesidilla (whole wheat tortilla, grilled chicken, tomato, green & red pepper, jalapeno and salsa for dipping)

And of course, loads of water during the day as usual.

It's the weekend!

I'm so glad it's Friday! I have no plans for the weekend, which is kind of sad, but it's nice to know it's the weekend just the same. Haha.
I had an AWESOME workout yesterday at the gym. I haven't done any exercise yet today other than walking to school and back (I don't count that toward my exercise goal because I do it everyday anyway, so it's not new). But Matt and I will probably be going for a walk later this evening. Even if we don't, I'm going to the gym tomorrow anyway, so I still won't be breaking my exercise rules. STILL no weigh-in :( I'll definitely have a number for you tomorrow! That's a promise. Hopefully a smaller number. lol
Here's my food for the day:
Breakfast: Special K Red Berries cereal & a glass of cran-grape juice
Lunch: Smoked turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread
Snack: Granola bar & apple
Supper: Spaghettini with mushroom & garlic sauce, sprinkled with cheddar cheese
Tons of water, as always.

Fridays are a bad food day for me because I don't get out of school until 4:15. But I didn't do too badly.

Thank you :) I'm trying my best.
I said I'd have a number for you today and I do... 166! Only 1lb lost since last time, which I'm sort of sad about. But that's still 1lb closer to my goal. I'm so excited about getting to change that ticker. Haha I managed to get out for a nice long walk last night and I'm heading to the gym in a couple hours. I'll post my foods later this evening.

Here's what I ate today.
Breakfast: Flax & Fibre Crunch cereal w/ skim milk, glass of orange juice, banana
Lunch: Baked cod (smothered in ketchup because I hate the stuff) and mixed frozen veggies
Supper: 1/2 baked boneless skinless chicken breast, 1/2 baked potato w/ margarine, mixed frozen veggies, glass of cran-grape juice
Lots of water all day

Doesn't your gym have a scale?

As for Cod... if you hate it, eat something else! You need to be eating foods you can enjoy, and chicken or salmon might be more to your tastes. Although there is one (sort of) benefit to eating foods you don't like: When you stop, you feel better. :p

Thanks for your comments, folks. :) Do you have a journal, Qjay?

Yes, my gym has a scale which is always wrong. The thing about medical scales is they have to be calibrated regularly, and ours isn't so people tend not to use it. The last time I weighed myself on it I was 157. Nice compliment, just the same! One of the down sides to having a student-run gym.

I hate all fish, but I'm supposed to eat it once a week. I have ulcerative colitis (an inflammatory bowel disease), so I have to follow certain dietary guidelines, which is the ONLY reason I eat fish. lol I take seal oil capsules a few times a week as well for the omega fatty acids, but it's the meat itself that is helpful to me.

I had a fantastic workout at the gym yesterday afternoon. I ran for a little longer than usual, but I didn't increase my speed. It's nice to feel some progress though. I also got an 80 min walk in last night. So yesterday was a productive day.
I'm going out for supper with my girlfriends tonight, so wish me luck! I'll be sure to make a smart choice and to not overeat. I'll post what I've eaten so far today. I didn't get out of bed until 10:30 this morning, so I had a late breakfast and cancelled out lunch.

Snack: 1/2 banana and a plum
I've only had one large glass of water so far today! Better start chuggin'!

It sounds l ike a good day :)
Be sure to keep not to let those calories get too low and drink that water!
:D

Thanks for the encouragement! I find it really hard to eat often enough sometimes. I really should be eating 5 times a day, but it's usually 4. I'm gonna have to work on that.

So last night was sort of bad, but it could have been worse. Here's what I ate for supper:
1/2 bowl linguine chicken tetrazzini
Small plate of Caesar salad
1/2 6-inch mini garlic loaf

I should have steered clear of the bread altogether. A mini loaf came with my meal and I loooove garlic bread, so I caved and ate half of it. On the bright side, I didn't take the other half home with me because I knew I should just stay away from it. We got a large salad between us, and I only ate one tiny plate of it because I'm aware that Caesar dressing is straight from the calorie-devil himself. I ate half of my pasta and took the other half home, which I had for lunch today. So like I said, it was bad but it could have been worse. Normally I would have eaten until I was too full to eat anymore. But I refused to let myself get to that point.

I'll be back this evening with my food for today!

The weekends are good reminders of what life is really like - that things come up and can send the best laid plans into a whirlwind - we just pick ourselves up and move on.

One day at a time!

Thanks for all the positive comments, everybody. It means a lot. Time to post my grub for the day. I definitely caught up on my water today after yesterday's bizarre low amount.
