Hello, everyone.
New here. I've grown quite frustrated with myself and I want to know what I'm doing wrong. I've weighed 135sh for many many years. The past two years, I've done strength training classes at my local gym. I keep pushing myself too to make sure I'm getting the most out of it (hitting muscle fatigue with each routine). My gym routine is strength 3 times a week, cardio 2 times a week. The strength training class gets my heart rate up quite a bit, so it's a little cardio as well.
Anyway, this year, I've gained around 7 pounds and I don't understand why. I've always had good eating habits since and have maintained my healthy weight for many years. So I'm baffled. I've tried adjusting my eating, but every week, the scale stays the same. I'm not liking how I look either. I look at photos/videos of me from January/February and I like how I look then better than now. My clothes are tighter. Though I feel stronger now, I look "thicker" and not in a flattering way, in my opinion. It's almost as if I've simply added muscle and the layer of fat is sitting on top. I don't mean that in a self deprecating way, just no other way to describe it. I don't feel toned at all.
Keep in mind I've done this routine now all year. Do I need to scale back the weight training? Is it too much? I just wanted to tone up, but this "fat" doesn't seem to be going anywhere... I've tried for MONTHS. The scale will not budge. Any suggestions? Sad thing is I really enjoy the strength training!
