Stomach conditioning

Hi, I am new to this forum and have a question about a certain exercise that we did in karate. My instructor had us do leg lifts and then he walked on our stomachs. He did this pretty quickly, so it didn't hurt.

I am wondering from a trainer's perspective, have you ever heard of this or done this to any of your clients? It seemed like a rare exercise, so just wondering.

We did that when I did karate too, never done it as a personal trainer and will not.
 
leg raises does your abs and also what your karate instructor did. but i think his ultimate goal was to also help with stand pressure on your abs aswell as work them out. you see when he walks on your stomach your stomach would have contracted wich is working out the muscle, because energy is used to make those muscle contract wich then cause blood flow to the muscles aswell and so forth to tearing the muscle. but because you do karate you might get hit in the abs one day and your abs will bar strong as from all that pressure and working out. but yea if i was to train someone i wouldn't do that to no client because its bizarre but maybe its a karate thing. I own a Kickboxing Gym and this is pretty common, but also not that relevant. Better off being conditioned to wear punches and kicks (if that's your goal and your advanced), by actually wearing the real hits.

Hell! I'm a Martial Arts, and Fitness Instructor, and although I can see why your instructor did that I think it is in fact premature and bizarre. I don't know your rank in Karate, but you might and must know that Ki energy is an essential part of the art. So your instructor is allowing ab exercise with the inner and outer training in that area of the body. Your Chi or Ki energy comes from the center of your body. The abs are the key target spot for this. Ki is something that takes time to build up. However The more in shape and sculpted your body is, the more it can handle the circulation flow Ki energy needs.
