Stickin' to it

Hey hon, this is an awesome food plan, but are you sure you don't get hungry inbetween meals? If not, then WOW, kudos to you cause I would be starving.

I have to eat every 90 minutes to keep me satiated throughout the day. I wish I could eat like this. I think if I did, I'd reach my goal faster, but physically, I just can't do it.

You know what, there is NOTHING better in the world than grilled chicken with steamed broccoli. It's prolly my FAVORITE meal in the world, no lie.

How many calories are in a Welch's Fruit Snack? It sounds rather appealing.

I hope you and the hubby are having a good weekend!! Keep us updated, kay hon?!

Sometimes I find myself wanting something a few hours after I've eaten but I drink some water and that normally satisfies me. I can't NOT eat. I get sick to my stomach and light headed and most of the time get really bad headaches and such, so I try to determine if it's hunger or thirst that I'm feeling. If I really feel hungry, I grap a piece of fruit or something.

The welch's fruit snacks have 80 calories and are supposed to be equivalent to one serving of fruit so when I have to have something right then, I'll grab a bag of those. There are probably 12-15 pieces in the package and they are gummy like.

When I was in high school and lost my baby fat, I ate probably every 90 minutes. I lost about 30 lbs over 6-8 months and wasn't even trying. I wish I could do that now. Sigh. I was totally oblivious to size and weight at that time, totally unlike girls these days..they understand all that stuff by the age of 8 or so. ..and by the way...that was only (wow I used only) 13 years ago.

Heh. I'm 28 now.

The way you respond physically is how my body reacts as well. If I don't get enough calories, I get lightheaded, fatigued and my head begins pounding. I'm constantly sipping water throughout the day, and thankfully, it helps give me a 'full' feeling, but I can still tell when it is I need food.

Awesome. I'll have to try those gummy snacks. Alot of the time, I'm always on the go and need something healthy I can just grab and munch on. If it counts as a serving of fruit, even better.

I've been told it's ALOT easier to lose weight at a younger age then it is when you're older. It really isn't hard for me, but I really don't attribute it to my age but rather to my amount of activity. I run five to six days a week and play basket ball. Between October and now, I've lost 26 pounds. So in five months I've almost lost thirty, but I've been involved in sports in that time.

You're still pretty young. 28 isn't a bad age to start re-vamping your life. At least it's easier to lose it now then two years from now. No time is better than the present.

You'll be able to do it. I have faith in ya'!

Squeak <-- 30

Yes honey, but it's easier for you to lose it now that it is two years from now too...:) No matter what age you are, deciding to make a lifestyle change at a younger age will better how you age in the future.

I've noticed in the posts of the more mature folks on this board, that they constantly speak of wishing they'd decided to change their lives sooner.

There's no time like the present, that's what I think. It is true though, that seventy percent of how you age is based on WHAT goes into your body and how active you are. So if I continue my lifestyle change, I'll be a pretty kickin' grandma...

Just as you will be Squeak. I never meant to offend you, I was simply stating that the younger you decide to change your life, the better it is on your body in the future. You know I love ya'...;)

So in five months I've almost lost thirty, but I've been involved in sports in that time.

That's awesome!!

I too am still involved in sports. I play volleyball still with a local recreation team and for some of my college credits I took a volleyball class and an aerobics. I really enjoyed both, but I also ate like a pig during the time I was taking the classes so, I didn't really lose any, but I maintained until the holidays.

Volleyball starts back up in April, and I hope by then to be 10-15 lbs lighter than I am now.

I also am going to try for a weight lifting class in the summer and who knows maybe another class as well. Hubby and I hope to find a gym to sign up with soon so we can have access to more weights and options too.

It's awesome that your husband is joining you at the gym. I understand how hard and frustrating it is to take this journey by yourself. Until my father decided he wanted to better his life as well, I felt like I was doing it alone. Now my father and I are doing it together.

Don't get me wrong, I knew that my dad supported me beforehand, he would always tell me how proud he was and how good I looked, but it just *feels* better now that someone I deeply care about is doing this with me. It makes the plateaus and the obstacles a little easier to cope with when I have someone I can talk to face to face about them. Truth be told, because this is such a big part of my life, of both our lives really, I just feel *closer* to my father. That's why I think it's great that you and the hubby are doing this together. This is a very emotional part of all our lives and it'll give you that much more of a connection. That's wonderful.

You should definately play volleyball again. Up until last week, my boys played recreationally on a church team. I played in grade school, but I was never really good at it. I enjoy soccer and basketball alot more, but given the chance, I'd prolly play volleyball again. I'm apt to enjoy something more now than I did in the past. Everything is more fun when you feel better about yourself, you know?

I hope you're having an awesome night, honey!

Well, I started out walking outside in the neighborhood across the main road. They have lottsa hills and stuff and decided I'd walk for about 45 minutes and go from there. When we started, we were walking/jogging/sprinting and then it became jogging and walking. Since it's been too cold out to walk (below 30 is too cold for me) we kept to the inside treadmill. I force myself to do an hour, it's not easy, but that's what I want and am working on increasing my jogging/running mph and stamina. Depending on how fast I'm going, I can jog for a mile to 1.4 miles, but I've increased my speed a lot to try to get used to a faster jog and now I'm back under .5 miles. So, we'll see how it goes.

Btw, it's easier for me to do an hour on the dreadmill at once, but since you have kids, it may not be as easy for you. Do it in 20 minute bursts if that's all you can do at once.

I hope you get yours soon! And thanks for stopping by.

P.S. I run/jog for a while, and then will walk for about a minute at 3.0 or 3.5 depending on how fast the run/jog was, then I pick back up and run/jog again.

Nope, I don't have a trainer, and my diet is my own. Do you have suggestions on how to make it better? =)

Welcome to the boards and glad you stopped in.

Monday Weight Update: 161.8

So, here I am back at 161.8 again. I'm hoping by the end of this week I'll hit the high 150's and that'll start my trek down that path.

Last night going to bed, I discovered some pain in my left shoulder, and today is an upper body workout, so I may be taking it easy for this day. I'll probably do Abs and treadmill again instead of Abs and Upperbody training until it feels better again.

On a side note, it's absolutely stunning outside today. So very beautiful, and if I hadn't caused this silly muscular strain, I'd probably go biking or play frisbee or something. Sigh.

Hope all is going well with the rest of you.

hey there,
sorry to hear about your shoulder. I tend to baby my upperbody like crazy because of my shoulder. major damage to it a while back and I'm too chicken to try working it too hard. Lucky you for having the great weather! It's still pretty cold and really windy out here. :( so deffinately enjoy it! even if you just grab a chair and a book and sit outside for a bit. I'd love to be able to do that.

Yeah, it's not feeling as badly this morning, but I'm still being extremely careful with this one. It really don't need a major setback like this since things are going pretty well.

I didn't spend as much time out as I wanted, but it was pretty nice.

AH!! Peanut Butter!! You've just made me cravie it so badly right now.

I have a terrible time eating a serving size though, you know. I always want MORE of it.

I'm sorry about your injury, hon. I hate how impeding they are on us. When I overwork my knees, I can't run for days and I feel useless.

Great job sticking to your food plan!! I'm so proud of you!! (((big hugs)))
