Steve's Slimmer Self 2013 Edition!

Hey everyone, apologies for not updating this much recently. Last month was a bit of a disaster, with my dad passing away I haven't really done much in terms of excercise, or sticking to decent food. Thankfully it hasn't added weight yet, simply due to not eating much, but also puts me a few weeks behind in terms of my overall goal date. Approx. 5lbs behind where I would have liked to be, but guess I can try to catch that up over the next few months!

Hit another of my goals, down below 18 stone (Just, at 17st 12.6lbs!!! hurrah)

As I haven't updated for a while seems easier to post the pictures below to show the data:

Must try to update this more often!

Hi Steve,
Sorry again about your Dad. Having lost my own father in September, I get it.
Your weight loss still impresses the hell out of me. If these charts are showing you "going awol" from a healthy plan recently, then you're doing really well still. A no gain during a time like that is awesome! Can you help me understand the last chart... I'm confused by the "2013 Goal" and "2014 Goal" lines.

Hey Mr Don,

Thanks. Yeah, the eating rubbish but missing multiple meals isn't really good, but at least it wasn't a gain!

The 2013 goal (blue line) is where I should be to hit 200 by september 2013.

The 2014 goal (yellow) is where I should be to hit 200 by Sep 2014.

And red is where I am now, e.g. slightly off goal, but near enough september-november 2013.

Steve

OK, now I have it. Thanks. Are you still rowing?

Trying to, but my brothers been home recently due to my dad and all, so had to dismantle the rower for now. His old room = my TV/rower etc :)

Will be getting it back together and ready to go once he's gone (without that sounding mean! :) )

With the weather finally becoming nicer, might have to look at trying to do some more outside excercises as well. I know a few of the other guys on here were thinking of getting a bike, so might have to look at that too. Gives the options what to use then :)

Steve

I've been watching out for a used Concept 2 rower, but they're hard to find at a cheap price. I just missed a Model D with a PM3 for $400 a few weeks ago (Damn!).

I have a bike built by Giant that handles 400+ pounds that I'll be using here very soon. I'm also ready to take my exercise show on the road.

Good luck resolving your brother-storage issue. ;)

That would have been a really good price! Model D with PM3 is a perfect fit for me, don't really want the "slightly" higher ride of the Model E and PM4 is a waste imho, unless you're planning to get a lot of them for use with the wireless racing. :)

What model bike is that? Never really seen any bikes that are built for our end of the scale! :)

Thanks,
Steve

Here's a to a Giant bike similar to mine. You'll see that in "sizes" they have various frames... the larger ones should easily fit your height and if they can handle my weight, you're golden. I think it's rated at 450 lbs. It's a good solid, relatively lightweight bike.

Glad to see you back on here, Steve. I know it's still a tough time, so much respect to you still trying to stay on track on the weight loss. Keep up the excellent work.

Firstly huge apologies Q, Don, MrVee and Omega. Thank you for the comments and sorry I haven't replied sooner.

Everything's finally settling down here, Dads business all being closed down, accounts sorted etc etc, so a lot lot lot less paperwork to deal with now.

It seems my goal of updating this diary didn't quite work :( 2 months went quick I tell you!!!

So here's to trying to update this a lot more!

Hit a couple of my goals, below 17stone, and below 200lbs lost! Woot.

Less than 100 days to my "preferred" target now, so need to try a bit harder. Slightly starting to move away from the goal line on my chart.

Also got a short holiday to Prague coming up at the end of June, so likely to suffer there!

Updated stats, and a new graph just showing loss zoomed in a bit.

Thank you very much Omega! The stupid thing is I can still look at a picture and say, nah I haven't changed much. Guess that will never end though when you know you've been at the higher weight

Steve

So once again I failed miserably at keeping this up to date :( Still riding around just above 16 stone, currently at 16st 4lbs~

Holiday to Prague has been and gone, and thankfully not much damage done! :) Only 2 lbs added on, which has been removed already! Hurrah.

However that has knocked my goal back a bit more, currently running 11-12lbs behind my original target. (55 days left till that day!)

Been looking at starting going to the gym again (When I say again this was yearrrsss ago). Wanted to try to start toning and building some muscles, still can't even do a single pushup that's how bad it is :(

Only thing I really can't decide is do I go to the very close, and quiet gym that's expensive. Or the much further gym that's cheap, but lots go there, and is likely to be very busy every day.... Location and quietness vs money.

It's scary how much more gyms seem to charge nowadays than when I last went, when I was at college was paying £26~ a month for a gym, look at the prices I was given yesterday:

Yep that's right, £70-80 a month. (For you Dollar folks that would be $105-120), and that's for a year minimum. Monthly rate even higher.

On a side note, thought I'd take some pictures for here on holiday as there was nice big blank wall :) (Think I need some new belts, that one is a "bit loose" :) )

Another 9.4 pounds until you've lost as much as you'll weigh (218.2)! You've certainly gotten a lot of mileage out of that belt. It's like a badge of acheivement! Wear it proudly!

He's been a good friend and will likely stay until at least I finish for a final picture! :D

So I finally did the evil deed.... Signed up for a gym! Eeeeek! 14 months for price of 12 deal currently, so yeah only 13.99 months of agony to go! lol

(On a side note, removed pictures for now so I can get them watermarked up, after reading a few threads about people using pictures etc :) They'll be back when I get a minute to do it!)

Steve

So an update since June!

Finally into the 15 stone bracket, barely but into it! :) Which also means I've now officially lost over 15stone! (15st 5lbs to be closer)

Been hitting up the gym lots since joining up, doing at least 5 days a week for 1.5-3 hours depending how lazy I feel! :) But hey, better than sitting watching TV right?! Still not liking the whole trying to run part... Much prefer just walking on treadmill etc. Look like a drunk chicken flailing around!

Now the bad news... :( Only 4 weeks left till my original target date (25th birthday + NewYork Holiday), so it's very unlikely I'll do another 21lbs in 4 weeks unless I start chopping bits off! Would like to aim for at least 15 stone though, so that's another 11lbs which seems more likely if I don't do something stupid :) No doubt the birthday/holiday combo will put a big amount back on, but hey it's only once a year right! :(

On a completely side note, Has anyone else looked at excess skin surgery etc? I know people always say toning up helps etc, but I'm sure there's a limit where no amount of toning will fix it especially after losing 15-16 stone of fat / half your body.
