Steve's Slimmer Self 2013 Edition!

Hey wow!! You are doing so well! & you already lost so much!!! thanks for sharing the pix!!
Keep up the good job and well done!
:seeya:

Another 5k last night, Slight improvement in time, but could just be fluke to how hard I row.

Meters Total Time Pace Date Age Class Type
29 00:20.0 01/05/2013 24 H standard
5000 34:30.8 03:27.0 01/06/2013 24 H standard
5000 33:30.4 03:21.0 01/08/2013 24 H standard

Been trying to think what other excercises to do in terms of the 1 hour for the contest. Generally my 5k is roughly 30~ mins, after which I get bored! :D Been considering doing something at work during break/lunch, either on treadmill or rower, but not sure I really want to take spare clothes everyday, or do it in work gear! lol.

It's already pitch black by the time I leave work around 4:30-5, so no real enjoyment in a walk or jog somewhere, at least until the clocks change and it gets lighter again.

Mmm...

Congrats on the rower. That's a really great machine! It's great for tall guys too. My gym has that machine. It should last you forever.

Aye that's the plan! :) When "if" I ever get to my ideal weight, will probably keep it for maintance wise, but could probably sell it and get more back then a cheaper (aka lighter supporting) rower costs too!

Hey Steve - welcome to the site ! ..

Congrat's on your brand-new Rowing machine ! it looks a beauty !! - am glad U found one with specs to suit your weight & height ( always need to be safe - I can't imagine how bad a person could get hurt using a machine not strong-enuf for them - eek. ) View attachment 19596 ... and so cool it connects with your computer ( so U can "compete"...great fun & motivation ... )

Fantastic work on your loss of 154 pounds so far .... and your plan of approximately 2lbs/week seems reasonable ( as a young 24yo , tall male- you are in one of the faster weight-loss categories .... not a slow-loss middle-age /short height/female like myself ( I average only about 1/2lb./week...so am jealous of your youth & height).... lol.

Many thanks Maryann. Feels kind of cheating when the main lot I already lost is just from eating "normally" (Whatever that is!), It's gonna be these last 80ish where I need to start the real work now :(

Hey wow!! You are doing so well! & you already lost so much!!! thanks for sharing the pix!!

Hey Justina, Thanks for the support!

Steve

I've just started rowing myself, but only because my personal trainer has me doing it. He's got me doing it 5 minutes at a time and then going on to do something else and then going back for another 5 and so on. At those short intervals I'm going about 2:25 per 500 meters but there's no way I could do 30 minutes going that fast.

Good work on the exercise. It can be hard to set aside the time, but what that really comes down to is being a little more conscious of when you're wasting time doing nothing useful and cutting that out as best as possible.

Aye, I've got a room setup with my TV and rower in so generally keeps me occupied while rowing :) Decided to get a cheapo pair of wireless headphones for use while rowing too, as it's loud over the TV!

Sadfully don't have room for much equipment where I am currently, barely enough room for the rower in the room but wanted something to do at home :)

Thanks,
Steve

Hey, good job on trying to come up with a solution for more excercise. I hope you find something!!!
It really makes me realize : I am a time millionaire - i must use it wisely while it lasts!!

Keep up the good work! :)

Hey Justina, and many thanks. Yeah going from uni student with lots of free time, to fulltime job with next to no free time is crazy lol.

Finally hit below 20 stone this week, weighing in today at 278.4 (3.4lb lost), 19st 12.4lbs!

Updated graph, getting nearer the blue line (2013 goal!)
attachment.php

Friday excercise was half an hour at lunch on works rower (No option for logcard on it so not sure how distance compared to mine), and another 30 minute session on stationary bike before leaving work.

Plan for today is.... 5k on my rower, and as long as it doesn't pour down with rain a nice walk around local country house garden!

(Apologies to everyone who I haven't had a chance to reply to diaries yet, been busy week, but hopefully will get some time today!)

Steve

Hey Steve, I've just caught up on your diary so far and wanted to say that you are doing brilliantly. Really huge weight loss - over a realistic period of time and sustained. Fantastic stuff. I can see a WORLD of difference in your pictures from start to finish. To put it in perspective, you have lost more than a third of your body weight at the start. Keep it up - inspirational stuff!

Hey Steve - excellent job!!! Wooohooo!

I bet you feeling better every day..not to mention - you are catching up with me - I weighed 172 this week. haha. :D

KEEP IT UP!!!

Thank you :) Guess it's one of those stupid things, looking at your own pics and you see no difference, but others do lol. :D

lol thanks, Don't think I'll ever be 172 not for my height anyway :D 200 a nice round figure! (or 199 to be pendatic lol)

Thanks again,
Steve

Keep up the good work Steve. I'm at 296 now, so I'm gonna try and catch you. :D

Hey, if you don't mind my asking since you've been where I'm going: you had a few plateaus here and there. Was that due to easing up on the diet and exercise a bit before getting back on track, or was that just an actual plateau while you were doing the same as you had been? I only ask because you've been at this longer than me, and I'm just past six months now and it's been pretty steady down, down, down the whole time. I'm wondering what I can expect if I stay more or less on the plan? You can ignore this question if you like, it's just the worrier in me worried my losses are going to grind to a halt. :)

Honestly it was just me being bad :) The original post shows it a little better, but generally it's when it's things holidays/birthdays etc. nom nom :D

Sep-Nov 2011 was my Las Vegas holiday, so epic all you can eat buffets etc, and steaks the size of a plate :( Bad bad bad place! And a few birthday parties etc

The big one end of 2011 was a bad christmas, combine lots of parties, lots of family meals (pretty much 4-5 christmas meals at different relatives) etc

A couple of the mid 2012 ones were where I forgot to weigh at the same time (Which is generally Saturday mornings), so I might have weighed after lunch etc.

And then september 12 was birthdays, and dec 12 xmas again lol.

Not as bad as 2011, as I'm learning to control the urges a bit more :) Doesn't need to be 999999999 chocolates at once!

Generally I find as long as I don't go crazy with snacks/parties etc, I'll generally only ever hit 1 week at a time where I go up, and as you said kind of not worried so much now when it happens :) As long as it continues to head downwards!

Another 5k done, slowly getting better times hehe :) Got myself a cheapy pair of trainers/gloves for while rowing, as last time when I finished noticed back of my heel was rubbing on the plastic and cut the skin. Can't have my lovely new rower bloodied up already! :D

Also done another 35-40min~ walk to local shops for food shopping today, not bought much as I was carrying it back, but thought it's worth a try rather than using car :D

Steve

Great job on the exercise, and carrying your groceries home. I don't even like carrying mine in from the car. lol!

Well done on the better times!! :hurray:

& you just stepped up your exercising by walking instead of driving!! You are so dedicated. I am sure you will get to your goal weight & keep it down too!

Your story is truly inspiring... I saw your chart and I was amazed... all I want to loose is 50 pounds and I think thats hard, but looking at your chart, makes me think differently about the difficulty of my goal, considering that you loose more than twice as much. Good job, you'll make it by sePtember I'm sure... Did you use a program to chart your weight?

Thank you! Doubt I'll do it everytime, just thought I'd try and see how it goes lol :)

Thank you. As long as you make a plan you're happy with and stick to it, you'll lose that 50lb in no time! My graph is just an excel chart with a pretty colour scheme on :) Tracking the weight weekly in excel so it's updating the graph everytime I put in a new weigh-in.

So during the weekend I decided to get myself a few new clothes mainly for work, as my old shirts etc were literally hanging off me lol.

Originally 54-56" trousers, bought a 44" pair (and a 42-44 belt), tried them on this morning and arghh... too big!?!?!? Yep, not enough holes on to keep them up lol. Brand new belt, and I've already put more holes into it :D Can't complain I guess, at least it's not too small! Need to get a tapemeasure, and find out what it actually is

5XL shirts, down to 3XL (2XL still a bit tight around the stomach!)

(Not weighed since Saturday, but was just below 280)

Feel my height helps a lot, as looking at the sideways one I wouldn't think that's 280lb!

Yay for new clothes!! You definitely don't look 280. I wish I could grow a few more inches. No, such luck though. lol! :)

Interesting effect on the pictures. Like you've been beatified or something. Do you always walk around with the halo or is that a camera effect. :)

Looking good. Gonna try and hang upside down and see if I can't stretch that 5'11" into 6'6".

That's your aura of achievement. Nicely done! Also, I notice a box that says Fairy. How do they taste? Are they low cal?
