Hello all! I have been lurking on this site for a couple of weeks now and decided to join in. I have been fat and obese all of my life. I am an 36 year old father of an 13 and 5 year old. I am 5'11 and I weighed 348 pounds. I lost 60 lbs getting down to 288 and then I fell off the wagon. I got back on the scale on Jan 19th 2009 and I weighed 317. I started back on my low carb and walking diet that day and I am now at 293lbs. Thanks for all of you who have shared your pictures and tips-it really is inspiring motivation. Maybe I will get the courage to post some pics of myself in the near future.

That was my first post on the newcomers forum. I have decided to start a diary, just to keep track of how I am progressing so far. As of today I weigh 278lbs. I cant even remember the last time I was that far from 300lbs, but I know I still have a long way to go. The thing that has go me so pumped right now is that I am only 5lbs heavier that my little brother. He has always been alot smaller than me. So now I am torn because I am finally not going to be the biggest one in my family, but now my brother needs to see that he needs to drop some pounds for his health, My first major goal is to get to 250lbs, and I want to do that by July. I havent seen my family in Cali for almost a year and I want to SHOCK them when the see me. When I graduated high school in 1991 I weighed 250lbs and yes I had an BEER BELLY, I was no where near the size and build I have let myself get to. My next weigh in is Monday the 13th. I am hoping for and 3-5lb drop. I also have to figure out how to post some before and now pictures so that when I reach my goal weight I can compare them and make sure that I never become that big unhappy guy again. I have got to admit the before and after pictures are so inspiring. I find myself constantly searching for updates on peoples progress, its one of the things that motivate me the most. Well so long for now.
