Starting over (and over and over)

Hello Michelle,

When your blood sugar was at 19-23 that means it was quite high? Such as too much sugar in the blood?

Silly I never really payed any mind to what my Grammie was doing when she'd take her blood. For a short time she didn't have to use needles, she got to take pills & something that would just dissolve on her tongue. Will you ever get to not take needles too?

How do you get the word out for younger people for tops? Just word of mouth? Or do you have a marketing plan too?

Thanks for the friendly hello's in my diary, most times that's all I really need. :)
The number does represent how much sugar is present in my blood. 19 - 23 is extremely high, those numbers tend to lead to black outs * i was having mini blackouts* or they can lead to a diabetic coma or stroke. I should be between 5 and 6

I take pills *not that dissolve on my tongue though* but im taking the maximum that i can and now i will be taking an insulin that is slow releasing, so it stays in my system for a long time. They are hoping the insulin will be able to give my pancreas a bit of a break, because its been working at half capacity, but very hard. Hopefully that will help it heal a little.

As for introducing tops to younger people: Its word of mouth and i am also going to put out adverts at coffee houses and such. It's not necessarily for my particular group, i just think that with so many youth out there with weight issues, it would be good for them to know about a system that is affordable and attainable. It follows the Canadian/American food guide principle, so its not some whacky diet scheme, its just basic nutritional information.

btw, im happy my little hello's help :)

Yow! 19-23 - that's crazy!

Down to 8 is pretty good by comparison, although you wish it were lower. Look at how high it used to be.

I'm so glad you are taking control of this situation.

Also - good that you are spreading the word about TOPS.

I would agree with others that to successfully loose weight one must have the right mindset and that can be hard to establish. Sometimes it takes a crisis for us to succeed. I had a hart attack on Christmas day and bypass surgery to save my life. That gave me a lot of incentive to control my weight and now say that the hart attack was the best Christmas present I have ever received. I hope you can eventually look back on your diabetes the same way.

Hi there, thanks for stopping in to give your support. I agree, unfortunately, sometimes it takes a health emergency to snap us back to reality. I heart attack would definitely be an eye opener. As i get older i am far more aware of the impact diabetes can have on my life when it is not looked after properly. I just can't let that go on any farther...mainly because i don't want to die young, due to preventable diabetes related issues.
Im sorry you had a heart attack, but am glad it helped you turn things around. *Now that your health is better, let's hope this Christmas you get something that does not involve surgery ;)*

Today was a pretty positive day, other than smacking the broken toe *not hard, but enough to remind me that i have an owie..lol*
Breakfast: 2 toast with left over beef and spinach and 1/2 oz cheddar, water, coffee

Lunch: apple, yogurt, water, *wasn't very hungry*

Had a music practice for a few hours... coffee and water

Supper: home made burger *carrot, zucchini, onion and mushrooms grated into the ground beef* Whole grain, seedy nutty bun
Mashed sweet potato
1 beer *yup, was in the mood for beer...lol*
water
Snack - shared a kit kat with Dan

Ughness I copied the last msg that I posted, but my comp's way slow sometimes and can't handle streaming a movie and posting on another window.

Let's try again.

That meal looks pretty good, I am going to copy and paste your recipe. The last "meat meal" I made was from that Bell Pepper and Buffalo recipe I got from you. I am more of a fry my ground meat with Onions and than add to a stir fry. I rarely cook with Olive Oil..

I am going to try some stuffed zuchinni's one day too.

I think I should be in the food tasting industry....:leaving:

Whenever I make hamburgers or meatballs, i great whatever veggies i have handy into the raw meat..to make it more moist and more healthy. I also added my spices *oregano, garlic, parsley, cinnamon, s&p. As well as whole wheat breadcrumbs soaked in 1 beaten egg. (you can do it without the breadcrumbs if ya want, just becomes a little more dense)

Love stuffed zucchini - Love food in general actually...lol

I hope you like it... :)

Today was a bit better in the water department..managed to get more in than usual and my blood sugar was between 6 and 8 *woo hoo*

Breakfast: whole wheat bun, egg and ham, apple, water

Snack: skinny latte

Lunch: pizza (ugh, sat heavy in my tummy) diet coke, water

Snack: mandarin orange slices, yogurt, water

Supper: shepherd's pie (sweet/reg potato topping) water,

snack: handful of nacho chips and salsa, 1 oz cheese **Not a good choice, wasn't really hungry..just wanted to munch... grrrrr**

I have really been carb and fat craving. I am going to try to not eat much cheese for the remainder of the week. ive been wanting to cut down on it. Also, there was still a half a bag of chips. Instead of waiting till i make it through the bag before behaving, i decided to throw the remainder of the bag out.

Hmm my mom and Grammie used to do that, with the bread crumbs, I didn't know you do that with the egg too. WOO HOO I love making my own goolash's, this will be fun! I will have ground meat again hopefully in December..

I wasn't able to do that with my chips on Friday, I ate two full bags of Old Dutch BBQ & Ketchup....:ack2: I was kinda sick. Discipline as of late has gone out the window.

You practice the Mandolin than? Or another type of music? How are your jewelry beaded necklaces coming along? Did you ever make those little beaded gecko's when they were popular? I did :D

I really like snacking on Celery sticks when I need to munCH & crunCH!

Will there be mud wrestling at this cyber partah?? :sifone: I hear it's good for the skin...

Laterz

P.S. I am sooo excited for CHRISTMAS!!!!
