Starting Out....

ey, I'm 17 years old and 6'4". Over the past few months I've lost quite a bit of weight. So i'd like to start buliding some muscle. I've started going to the gym about a month back, but I'm still not quite sure what I'm doing...
I go two or three times a week, but im not even sure how many days im supposed to wait before working the same muscle groups. So i usually do them every other day. I dont know if thats right or not.

Also how long should it be before i start seeing results?

And should i be using the weight machines or the free weights? I use a combination of the two.

Any feedback is appreciated. thx:confused: :confused:
 
48 hours rest between each muscle group, if you do 3 times full body a week with atleast a day between each workout you are fine. do free weights, definitly! and you should get yourself a propper program, just dont go around doing something you dont know anything about, as you wont get good gains that way. look around for some programs ;)
squats, deadlifts and rows/pullups are all great exersices that imo should be in a lifting program, take a look around and ask some more questiones if you need to :)
 
i would suggest picking up mark rippetoes book "starting strength". its a great book that coaches the main lifts and gets you going with a good basic routine.
