Starting from the beginning - Advice please!

Hey everyone, I've finally decided to dedicate myself to getting in shape. I'm 24 and never really spent much time working on myself physically. I'm posting because I would like as much advice as possible. Where should I start? What should I focus on? As you can see in the photo, I'm kinda skinny. 6ft 150lbs.

Photo from today:

When I got my house I also inherited some workout equipment. It's all functional. I'm going to try and use this equipment until it doesn't suit my workout anymore.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hooray for copy and paste...

Then you'll want to use to calculate your daily caloric needs (the numbers used for losing weight are somewhat conservative, feel free to lower them, but do not go under your maintenance by more than 1000 calories, or under 1200 for women or 1800 for men..whichever is higher).Don't worry if you don't know your bodyfat %, if you do put it in and use the Katch-McArdle, if you don't use the Harris-Benedict.

Then you'll want to check out for the lowdown on what to do for exercise, as well as more resources on effective weight loss and nutrition. I recommend HGM for a beginner to strength training. It's tough, but fun.

The stickies here are also an excellent source of information. Read, read, read. :D

At your size and bodyfat, a nice clean bulk would probably be the best thing to do. This means improving your nutrition, figuring out a weight training routine, and eating a calorie surplus. It's all there. :)

Of course, there will be no mention of using the machine you have, as they're generally considered worthless. Sorry. :(
