If at first you don't succeed, try and try again.

Wikipedia has self-pity as: "a psychological state of mind of an individual in perceived adverse situations who has not accepted the situation and does not have the confidence nor ability to cope with it. It is characterized by a person's belief that he or she is the victim of events and is therefore deserving of condolence".

I think that pretty well sums up how I've approached my weight problem over the past few months - well, probably years now - anyone know how long it's been since I was last here? lol. The self-pity has then been joined by good old comfort eating, excessive treats I shouldn't have indulged in and laziness. I need to break all that and get myself back to where this forum helped me to before.

So, here I am once again. Third attempt (first went well, second was a non-starter).

Just weighed in at 326lbs - not easy to confess to either. And it may have been more, the poor scales didn't seem to like the abuse and it was hard to get a proper weighing done.

The intent is to stick with what worked before: a sensible breakfast, salad or fruit for lunch and a sensible evening meal supplimented by walking as much as I can.

Some of you know me (and are probably fed up with my repeat attempts ;) ) so a big hellllooooo to you all! Some of you don't - but I hope you will :seeya:

It doesn't matter how many attempts it takes, as long as you never quit for good.

I wish you luck but you don't need it, because you CAN do it.

Thank you V :)

Well, day 1 is almost over. 2100 cals and it should've been less with a bit more willpower - 1 step at a time I reckon though - will aim for a little bit lower tomorrow. Not a lot on the exercise front, but then again, I've been working all day so I'm going to have to let myself off on that one for now!!

Hope to drop by some other diaries later on - get some inspiration!! :waving:

I'm good now! How you doin' Bluey? I still have your snowman up there in the corner! hee hee!

I'm doing okay.

Just sorting out uni applications and stuff at the moment :|

Ahah, i noticed. Poor old friend, wonder where he is now.

The poor thing never did look well for his sudden weight loss! lol. Probably in snowman heaven right now - not quite sure if snowman hell would be viable with all that heat though :reddevil:

Oooooh, which Uni are we heading for - staying localish or heading further afield?

No, that could be an issue. Desk fans in every room methinks.

Ahh, hopefully somewhere quite far away, not really sure yet. Thought about having a shot at Oxford, but i'm not holding my breath on that one. lol.

I think most ISPs are run from there ;)

Okay, today has been fruit-filled with a splash of salad followed by a couple of things I probably shouldn't have had, but still leaves me on a very reasonable cals count of 1850.

Still haven't gone shopping for 'proper' food so that's something to be done tomorrow. Any yummylicious suggestions anyone?

Glad to hear everythings going well :), well glad to read. As for suggestions, the only ideas my brain could function were ridiculous so i shall keep them to myself.

Good day?

You know what they say, A ridiculous idea shared is a ridiculous idea, erm, shared I guess. Was it any more inventive than my beans-on-toast for tea?

Been a bit of an up and down day - started badly when I got distracted and forgot I'd put some bread in the toaster for breakfast. Had to settle for an apple at work instead! lol. How have you been keeping on this rather wet day?

Well, that was Thursday - not a lot to say really. Bland and next to nothing for breakfast and lunch all building up for a small portion of fish and chips for tea - MMmmmmmm! Well worth it! lol.

It's always hard to tell how many cals you've had when you have a takeaway, but from the guides I reckon I've totalled around 2000 today. Would've been lower but I hit the wrong button on the drinks machine at work - instead of my diet coke I got a fanta, complete with 275cals - d'oh! :blush5:

One positive-ish thing was that I invested, finally, in an ipod. Once I get walking it can keep me company a bit :)

Stan,
An ipod is definitely a good investment, it'll take your mind off all the walking. Maybe I should get mine back from my brother... lol Good luck mate! Take care.

Woo! I managed to do a walk, but oooooh, I'm sore now. Tore a muscle a few weeks back and boy it was telling me it didn't like the workout! lol. Only took it easy because of that and the 1 mile was plenty. I will have to see how it goes before trying any further distances but it was a bit disappointing to be so sore still as I was hoping to head out this evening for some more miles. Oh well.

Today went pretty well again. 1950 cals according to my calculations, but aside from an onion bhaji at lunchtime it was all a bit plain again. Not to fear, I stopped at the shops earlier and got some yummy stuff - so roll on tomorrow! Woo! :)

The weekend - my biggest fear for ruining the diet!! The routine of the working week is easy to structure but weekend days can be a bit random. Luckily I've managed the first day okay!

Didn't do any walking, but I spent 5 hours on my feet this morning, so I guess that counts for something? Dug out my old favourite of liver and mushrooms for tea - can't believe I like that so much!! Not only that, it's quite low in cals, so I can treat myself at another point in the day if I fancy it :)

Anyway, total cals for today 1572, but I've got some ricecakes I might tuck into so that might rise a little yet.

Have to say, I'm feeling pretty darned great right now

Can't be bettered, beans on toast. Might have that for tea tomorrow :hurray:

Okay, Sunday: Counting has gone a bit off today due to an unexpected meal out with the extended family. There wasn't much choice on the menu either, so I went with what looked least calorific (if that is a word!) which was the lamb with assorted veg. I have to say, it was very, very yummy indeed.

To make up for that, I haven't had too much to eat for the rest of the day. Bran Flakes for brekkie and a ham butty with a dab of pickle for tea - total cals for those was around 700.

Back to the routine of weekdays tomorrow :)
