Hello,
I had a free assessment done with a personal trainer but the $8000 a year program was a little too shocking, so I want to find out what I should concentrate on without suffering financially.
I am a 23 year old female, 5"5, 130 pounds with 20% body fat. The trainer pointed out an issue I didn't think I was affecting me, but I guess it is. I broke my ankle to years ago and it turns out that it's affecting my entire right leg up to my hips. I have major stability and flexibility issues in that leg, and shin splints. After a few stretches my ankle felt temporarily better than it had in years, and I was able to do squats more comfortably, as I was able to keep my heels planted. It appears my right obliques are also weaker than my left, and I have major stiffness in my right shoulder that I wasn't even aware of until he asked me to stretch in certain ways. So...
1) What can I do to increase muscle flexibility and stability? Should I look into physio or yoga?
2) What exercises should I concentrate on to make my core strong? I appear to have given myself a nice set of abs without caring about my back at all...
Any other advice regarding how to exercise PROPERLY and what I should concentrate on, would be greatly appreciated, because it seems I have over-worked certain muscles while completely ignoring others.
