squat question

on another thread someone mentioned that squatting ass to grass is actually safer than going parallel. is this true? i can see how it could be true, as parallel causes you to stop the weight at the most vulnerable part of the motion. however, i have a hard time believing it.

also:
if parallel is, in fact, less dangerous, is there really any benefit to going ass to grass? using more weight means more of a T release.

The safest way to squat is to change you depth around now and again. You might be shifting more weight squatting to parallel but you're not training through your full range of motion. If you're not training for powerlifting I'd concentrate on squatting ATG if you're flexible enough.

A common problem with ass to grass training is form. Make sure your knees do not cross in front of your toe plane. Squatting as deeply as possible will make the squat as challenging as possible; follow form and you'll be all set.
