Sprite's Diary - Take Two

Hi All, :waving:

I'm back on the site after a while away. I lost just over a stone and a half a couple of years ago, and posted on here a lot at the time, but same old story, I've got complacent and the weight has crept back on. If anything I'm a little heavier now than when I started a couple of years ago... I don't know as I haven't dared to weigh myself yet!!

Anyway I know my weight is bad for me, as well as wanting to look better obviously. The summer is over here now, so no more BBQs etc and I know I have no excuse not to make the effort!! =)

My partner and I just bought our first house, and we move in at the end of next week. He was very supportive last time I was losing weight and knows I want to try again, so that will help.

I hope to lose a stone by Halloween - that's 8 weeks on Saturday so I thought that was an acheivable and sensible target. =) I will weigh myself on Saturday morning and go from there!

Anyway just wanted to do a little introduction, looking around I recognise a few names from last time I was here.

Welcome back, Sprite! Can't wait to read about your journey and progress! I am in the process of maintaining my 40 pound loss...it's an every day struggle!

Good luck!
Di

Thanks Di... A 40lb loss sounds good to me right about now! Congrats on that.

Ok so a quick jump on the scales today tells me that I'm weighing in at 192.2lbs... EEK!!

The 8 weeks til Halloween (my first goal) starts tomorrow but it's never too soon to start I figure... so gonna eat sensibly today and either go for a walk or do one of my exercise dvds. Have a good day all!

Sprite I would say welcome back but that wold mean I was here when you left so I will just say welcome.

Good luck on your journey and congrats on the new house.

Thank you :) it's exciting stuff!

I just got back from a long walk. Not exactly sure of the distance but it was 7060 steps according to my pedometer lol. Feel better knowing I've got off my bum and done something today!!

Most pedometers have a function where you can enter your stride length, and then it will also calculate distance for you, as well as number of steps.

Calculate your stride length by taking 10 steps at your full walking stride, measure the total distance, and average it. That gives a fairly accurate stride length.

Hey Sprite!

Thought I'll stop by your diary too! :)
I'm glad that you're taking action now! (I guess the key thing for us is to stay here even when we achieve our goals and MAINTAIN!) I suck at that! SO that should be our mission once we reach our goals!

Just curious about your calorie intake? Are you making any changes?!

All the best!

Pooja

Thanks for the posts guys.

Cord the Seeker, my pedometer is a very basic one- it literally just counts the steps. But I will work out my average tomorrow :) thanks.

parikp02, yup I am making big changes to my diet. I am trying to cut my portions right down as I know they are bigger than they need to be. I am also cutting out junk food and snacks, and hoping to have a sensible diet with fewer calories and less fat. I wont be "counting calories" because that is too precise and doesnt work with my mad lifestyle, but i have a pretty good idea of what is low in fat/calories and what works for me when I want to lose weight. :)

hey, just call me Cord. :)

Haha, will do!

I've had an ok couple of days... slipped up a little earlier today (choccy biscuits got the better of me! :piggy:) but not letting it put me off :) one of my big problems is that I get despondent quite easily if I slip up or if I don't lose much/any when weigh-day comes around.

I'm thinking I'll get a workout dvd done tomorrow. :)

Good Morning All,

I haven't been around for a week or so, not because I've fallen off the wagon or anything but because I have just moved, (myself and the OH just bought our first house :)) and as yet have no internet. (Access to the scales has also been non-existant until today!!)

Anyway today I weighed in at 190.4lbs, so a loss of 3lbs so far. :) Had a "naughty meal" of fish and chips the night we moved in, so I'm quite pleased with the progress.

I also attended my first step-aerobics class with a friend last night... painful!! I'm definately out of shape!! At the advice of the instructor we didn't attempt to put in the arms last night, as the legs were quite enough to try to keep up with. Hurting somewhat today but sure it must have done some good and determined to go back next week. Thankfully I wasn't the only one looking half-dead by the end of it. ;)

So hopefully more of the same over the next couple of weeks... still on track for my Halloween target, with 11lbs still to lose.

Hope everyone else is doing ok!! x

Woooo! 3lbs. That's great! Keep up the good work! I probably couldn't have gotten through a step aerobics class so go you! haha :) Good luck w/ everything!

Omega your loss never ceases to amaze me when I see your ticker!! Literally being far less than HALF what you weighed to begin with!! I'm only starting at 193lbs and the thought of reaching my 140lbs target seems impossibly far away let alone reaching your tiny 126lbs.

Anyway congrats on a good week so far, enjoy your weekend. :)

Thanks for your supportive comment in my diary. Since you are in England did you see that my avatar is my Slimming World book cover with my high awards on. The whole thing plus my weighings to goal under 9 stone are in my album here.

I will admit that my goal weight seemed an impossible dream for a very long time. I originally thought of an even lower weight until I realised that the loose skin that I carry means that I would be too thin if I tried for a lower weight and BMI.

Stick with the project - eating healthily and doing regular exercise and you will drop that weight. Nearly 4 stone can sound a lot and a daunting task - but consistant hard work will get you there. Many people on the forum have managed it and you will too.

Thanks guys, have been quite good with the food over the weekend (no easy task as I've been at work where I am the most inclined to pick at things and snack!!)

Back to step-aerobics on Thursday and I'm going to try to do a work-out dvd between now and then... apart from anything else, so that it's not such a sudden shock to the system!

I bought myself a punnet of grapes today, as they provide me with that sweet snack I crave. BUT!! When I unwrapped them, I pointed out to my OH that there was intricate cobwebs on a bunch of the grapes. I then saw a dead spider... but worse, OH spotted a live one! Yes, there was not one but TWO spiders in my grapes, all the way from Italy I assume as the packaging had been sealed!! Seeing as I am not a fan of spiders at all, OH banished the grapes to the back garden where they remain. It's enough to put me off for life... so now I'll have to find myself a new healthy snack.
