7/13...194.5

Well, I made it to my first mini goal! Yeah! :jump:

Now, I'm going to concentrate on firming up my upper thighs and trim my hips with more exercise throughout the day, every day. I don't have an active life right now, all I do is watch TV while I'm on the computer. I've been on disability since 2002, so I don't get out of the house very much. I used to have jobs that kept me on my feet and moving all day, and that's how I stayed trim (I weighed 165 in 2000). So I really have to fight hard to get down to that weight again under these new conditions. That's my personal challenge, and I'm taking it on today!

way to go on reaching your mini goal!!

and what an awesome personal challenge to set for yourself!! you can do whatever you set your mind to...

7/14...still 194.5

I completed my cabbage soup diet challenge, so yesterday I added a few foods back into my eating plan. When I first got up I had a Nutri-Grain Almond Fruit & Nut bar which are as good as candy to me!
My next meal was a salad with cherry tomatoes, green pepper and sliced zucchini made with my homemade oil and vinegar dressing. I topped that with 3 thin breaded chicken strips still warm from the oven. Yummy!
For dinner I had a big bowl of my cabbage soup. For dessert I finally got to have one of my cheesecake bars. It was creamy and delicious!

So I ate normal and at least didn't gain a pound or two. I'm very happy about that! But...I need to keep losing every week, so... I made another batch of soup and I'm going to keep going with it, just adding more protein each day until I get to 190, at least.
This morning I'm eating 2 hard boiled eggs and then it will be soup the rest of the day.
My sister-in-law invited us over to their house tomorrow for my birthday, so I'll take a day off to enjoy myself. They do have a pool, so I will be getting some exercise before we eat. I love their pool!

It's time to take my measurements again, so here goes!

I'll just list what has changed:

Waist...44 1/2"

Left Above Knee...17 1/2"
Right Above Knee..17 1/2"

Left Calf...15 1/4"
Right Calf..15 3/4"

7/15...194 lbs

Yesterday, I changed my mind and added a bit to my plan. First, I had a bowl of my soup, then I was still hungry so I cooked a bowl of green beans in the microwave. Next, I had a Nutri-Grain bar. Oh, I remember, also that I grabbed 1 chicken strip out of the fridge, from the rest I had baked yesterday, and munched on that while my soup was being heated up. For supper I had my usual big serving of soup, which filled me up for the rest of the night.

I love not having cravings in the later evening hours. That soup really does the trick!

7/18...193.5

Well, I finally got below 194. This past Monday, after eating at my sister-in-law's on Sunday, I weighed 197.5. I knew I was going to be upset trying to get back down to 194, so I worked very hard these past two days and now I'm down a half pound!
I've been doing some light weight lifting routines (with a 3 lb wt.) along with my soup diet, and that is adding some nice muscle to my arms! I'm on my 3rd batch of soup, but this batch doesn't have cabbage in it. I scrounged around my freezer and added to my beef broth, frozen cauliflower, peas, the last of a package of frozen sliced carrots and fresh cut up carrots, my last little zucchini and my last small onion. Oh, also an almost full bag of frozen lima beans. I also decided to add 2 small cans of V-8 juice for flavor. It's very delicious! So, I'll be eating this the rest of the week, along with cut up chicken, which I throw in after I've heated up my soup.

I hope to be down to 190 by the 24th.

Congrats on the scale going down... You're doing really well sticking to your diet. Keep it up and the scale will keep going down.

7/22...192.5

Well, it's taken me 4 long, frustrating days to drop another pound! I think the problem was too much sodium in my last batch of soup. I kept retaining water at night. I'm switching back to salads today, because I was losing consistently a half pound a day on them.

My latest measurements:

Waist.....42"
Pudge...48"
Hips......45"

Left Calf...14 3/4"
Right Calf..15 3/8"

Left Above Knee.....17"
Right Above Knee...17 1/2"

I can now fit into two pairs of shorts that were too tight a month ago. I'm very happy about that!

Congrats on another pound lost!

You may want to add some variety other than just soup or salad... You can't live forever on that. It just may be valuable to you to try and create a diet that can be maintained over the long term:)

Keep up the great work... I bet those shorts look wonderful:)

You are right about that! That's what I'm going to start doing this next week. I'll add a few foods back in at a time and see how they affect my weight loss.

7/28...190.5

I'm back to finally report I made it to 190! It took longer than I was hoping, thanks to my monthly bloating which was going full swing this week. Really made me mad! Trying to mess up my plans for success, well, you can't keep me down for long!

Just for curiosity's sake, I'll post my daily weigh-ins this past week up to today.

Tomorrow, we are finally going out to celebrate my birthday. We are going to an Indian restaurant. My daughter's boyfriend's family owns it! I can't wait!

8/2...190 lbs.

I have some exciting news to report today! I'm going in for my kidney transplant this morning, the surgery will take place early afternoon. I got a call early yesterday morning telling me a kidney was available for me, coming from a 19 yr old in Georgia, who of course, sadly to say had died and the kidney was a PERFECT match for mine! The doctor said it's very rare for this to happen, so I'm very thankful! I was expecting my sister to donate her kidney to me, but they put me on the waiting list anyway and it's just been about 2 weeks and I get my kidney! That's amazing!

I'll be in surgery for about 4 hrs. and will stay in the hospital for 4 days, so I'm expecting to be home by Monday or Tuesday.
I'm glad I was able to lose these 10 lbs as quickly as I did. I'll possibly gain them back with the anti-rejection meds they'll put me on, but I'm hoping and praying that won't happen.

Hi there,

just dropping into your journal. :) I'll have to say, you are SOOO lucky about the kidney donation. I've known a few people who had to either ask a family member or be placed on a waiting list for a long time. Congrats!

As for the possibility of gaining weight, all in all, take care of yourself first and foremost. If you do gain weight, then so be it. However, when you're ready to kick yourself into gear, you'll do just fine. :) Wishing you all the best and may you have a speedy recovery.

-Sheryl
