Sore quads after any sport?

Hi

Not sure whether this is the correct section to post this in or not but ill give it a try anyway!

I have recently started playing sports again like football and tennis. Whenever I do any bursts of exercise like running for the ball, jumping up or hitting the football, my quads nearly pull themselves! It is really sore and leaves me unable to continue.

I warmup for a good 15 minutes and do a lot of streches but it doesn't seem to be helping any. The weather at the minute is very cold, about 5c and i don't know whether this is the reason.

If anyone has any advice on any streches or routines that will help focus on the quads or any recommendations on a spray or cream to use to help warm them up i would most appreicate it.

Many thanks

I get this when I start baseball in May...and I workout 5x's a week all year long...stetching does help and eventually those muscles will get use to what your doing...one I like to do is kneeling down, sitting on your legs/feet and move your upperbody all the way back...you can really feel that one. I try and get to the gym a little ahead of time to work on some lunges and squats before I play.

Cheers for the advice Shar123!

Im def gonna give that strech a try! Is there any point in using a deep heat spray or cream before playing?
