sore muscles

i have a quick question. First of all i loveeeee sore muscles! its a little weird but it makes me feel like i worked hard. Now why do muscles like get sore for so long? Ive heard things like acid build up and things like muscle strands breaking and rebuilding in an arch..also is it good to rub sore muscles or whats the best way to cure it....thanks

You're not weird, I feel the same way. My dad, the marine, says to me everyday 'no pain no gain son'... :) When working out, there are two main things that benefit you and make your muscles better. The actual tearing of muscle fibers, only to grow back larger, and the hormonal response (test is released while lifting).. I've never heard of rubbing sore muscles, that only hurts me.. But the best way to cure it is to eat plenty of protein, and go for long walks to elevate the heart rate and speed everything up..

Massaging the muscle would be best for the final part of recooperation, or a little while after working out. It speeds stuff up by getting blood to circulate and help get rid of some acid. I guess you can do it while you're sore too, but it hurts more than after working out and after you get over the rest hump. But that shouldn't be a problem because you feel good afterwards anyway.

I love it when my muscles are sore. During that time I try and eat as best as possible and take in protein every 3 hours to help them grow. I also try and avoid (if at all possible) doing activities involving the sore muscles.

while on the subject....Ive read threads were people say how to get bigger muscles and one of the replys is let your muscles rest after lifting, I was wondering if the results would be the same if you weightlifted through the sorness.

To answer your question, NO. Your muscles grow when they rest. You put them under load which tears the muscle. During the recover time (rest) they repair theirselves using all the protein and the good diet you're eating to repair them bigger and stronger hence bigger muscles. Do not work out sore muscles.
