Hello there
I am a person who was always overweight after my mum decided to plump me up when I was 5yrs old. I was a skinny child and in my culture (back then) being skinny was frowned up on. I am now 284lbs heavy and i am 5ft 8. When people look at me they wont believe that i am 9stone overweight. But they think that i have couple of stone to lose. To me this sounds like massive mountain to climb.
However my ambitious goal is to lose 10-14lbs a month. I know it is bit much but as long as i am losing something, I am happy.
I have tried tried every diet under the sun. I have lost some weight but always put them back on as they were so unrealistic to keep for life. I have tried Cambridge diet, lighterlife diet, Atkins, Slimming world, Weightwatchers, pills etc. I was thinking of stomach stapling surgery, but the thought really scaries me. As i was about to call my doctor, i read a newspaper on my dest at work. The article was this lady who tried every diet but couldnt lose anything. She finaly resorted to surgery and died at the table. This stopped me calling my doctor. Speaking of doctors, they have told me that with my weight, it is hard to conceive. I have been married for 6 years now, trying for a baby, but nothing so far. I have tried this to motivate me and stick to healthy lifestyle, but i cant control my cravings and love eating sweets. Many friends ask me "what do you love most? Sweet or having a baby"? How could they ask me that question
But they did have a point.
Anyhow...i was watching a tv programe and a guy called Mckena came on. I listened to him for 30min. He had a whole merchandise to promote but the essence of his system is quite simple and common sense: only eat when you are hungry, put your knife and fork down between mouthfuls, Eat Conciously. This is the biggy. Eat slowly taking notice of every mouthful. If you do this you will enjoy your food, and then you will notice. When you’re full, stop eating. Don’t worry about leaving food on your plate, don’t worry about getting hungry 10 minutes later.
I am not here to advertise this guy however i tried to do this without exercising. I forgot all about him. But 2 weeks later, I weighed myself and I found that i lost 12lb. Mostly was water of course but this spurred me on to change my lifestyle. Eat healthy food and execrise and dont stress too much.
I have a lovely family who struggled with me over the years with regards to my weight. They have done everything humanly possible (from cooking my family' s food to going walks with me). They will still be here to support me but now they got tired of me getting excited over the latest fad diet.
I have joined the March 2lb challenge. Hopefully this will encourage me and having a diary is great to keep track of my journey.
