Sona Can Reach For The Sky!

Sona,

I like your work!

I love how in the sketch you let our eye fill in missing details like the shoulder and the pants leg, good balance of outline and contour lines.

You've got a strong expressive use of color too. I like the use of complimentary colors, moody without being dark.

I said I'd show you some of mine, so...

and...

and...

Some are older and some are fairly recent. I tend to stall and block and stop painting for years sometimes. It's frustrating. But it is what it is. I haven't painted in over a year.

Maybe soon!

Thanks Selena for stopping by

Yes I can see that there are a great bunch of folks on this forum!
I really do need some support at this point in my life.
Looks like I've come to the right place.
You're absolutely right about the exercise,
I'll take every endorphin I can get!
Nice to meet you Selena,
can't wait to talk with you more!

Whoa David!!!!
You are really good!
I loved all three.
I was blown away by your use of light in the first one "CafeNoir".
I always have trouble getting enough visible light into my stuff,
it's tough to do in a black and white piece, I love your people in shadows.
The second one "Walking" sets a real mood with me.
And the third is a great female study...wonderful!

Thanks so much for sharing them with me!

Oh and about the missing details in that sketch of mine
I didn't know they weren't there until you mentioned it..rofl
Sona is an airhead!

Guess what!!!!!!!

I lost 3 pounds since last Monday, I didn't believe it.
((Sona is doin the happy dance))
I got on the scale twice, and I HATE scales.
OK I'm taking it!
It's prolly mostly water but I'm taking it!

Gonna go ride my bike now and not eat,
lol at least not pig out!

Awesome job on the 3 lbs! :jump:

I love bike riding. It helps me feel so free. I don't even think of it as exercise [until I have to go up a big hill]. *winks* Enjoy the day!

I did 25 min on the bike,
if I can ever build the stamina to do 30
I'll start adding intervals.
Didn't manage to get outside to walk before the heat.
Maybe tomorrow.

I rested about 15 min, sat and stared at the wall!
Gotta do something about that wall!

Then I did some stretching and warm up.
I managed 2 sets of 20 squats no resistance, no chair ta da!
Then did my physical therapy floor work.
I still can't do even one crunch, not 1, nada!
but I am regaining some abdominal awareness.
I can tighten those muscles a little bit but not deeply.
I also can't lie on my stomach,
heck it was a year before I could wear anything with a waistband.

I can bench press like 25 pounds right now
but only if someone hands me the bar.
It stresses my belly to lift it from the floor to the bench.
Can't even assemble it on the bench.
My husbands bench is all set up but he uses an olympic bar..forget it.
Maybe later....lol.
Dumb bells are fine.
Truth is getting on an off the freaking bench is a challenge.

I'm doing flys but my rotator cuff is bothering me (old lifting injury)
this usually means I need to work the back of the shoulder
so reverse flys will work, those cuff exercises will prolly be a good idea.
Maybe I can find those elastic bands I used to use to work back of shoulder??
All my stuff is in a closet, prolly at the bottom of it in the abyss.
I did find a box of old exercise videos though.

I don't have a gym membership right now
for obvious reasons (surgery) I let it expire.
It's probably just as well.
I used to be very competitive in the gym.
I don't need to compare myself to anyone else, not even how I used to be.
I especially don't need to compare my workout to my old workout
I get all upset.
I just need to beat my own last weeks best.
Keep telling yourself that sona!

More stretching...stretching is good..stretching is fun
I LIKE STRETCHING!

done for now

OMELETE TIME!

Hi Selena, I must have been running my mouth here while you were commenting me.
That 3 pounds gave me a big kick right in the motivation.
Oh btw it's a stationary bike,
you know, you are spinning your wheels but don't really go anywhere!
It's 100 degrees outside!
I'm inside...yeah I'm a wuss!

Thanks for stopping by Selena!

I have to be outside. I'm not a total nature freak, but I love being outdoors. We have this amazing trail near my house that's totally shaded over with trees. The Southern heat is always there, but you get used to it. I was born here. I wait for the temp to get in the low 90's before I go out too, it provides minimal relief. Oh, but the trail is so pretty. I have seen squirrels, deer, and even turtles up close.

I had a stationary bike once. I used that bad boy until I basically rattled it apart. Opps!

Hi Sona,

I loved your painting and sketch.

David yours were amazing as well... I really loved the black and while. I really love painting monochromatically.

Congrats on your 3 pounds down! Water or not those are 3 pounds that are not on your body anymore:)

~Jenna

Morning Selena, Jenna good to see you

I agree with you Selena about being a nature freak,
as soon as it cools down a bit I'm heading for the woods.

Thanks Jenna, I blew it and got back on the scale this morning
I knew I shouldn't weigh but once a week.
It took back a pound, leaving me with a 2 pound loss.

humbug...serves me right!

I rode the S Bike 26 minutes this morning
I'm actually sore from lifting yesterday,
not major but still sore, It's prolly a good thing.

A friend turned me on to micro-lactin for DOMS a while back
guess I'll start taking it again, it's a Glucosamine chondrioitin supplement
with MSM and MicroLactin. good for joints and connective tissue.
also beats the DOMS down to size. This one I have is Fitness Labs
in case anyone gives a hoot!

My food yesterday wasn't great but wasn't horrible either.
today will be better...fingers crossed, refridgerator shut...lol

Morning Sona!! Congrats on the pounds down, it doesn't matter if it's water weight right now or not, your losing and that's what counts. I'm so proud of you keeping up on that stationary bike, that will certainly bust the calories down for you. And what I did at the beginning was just take away one bad thing a week that I would indulge in "FOOD WISE" for example, my hubby is a chocoholic, like me, so he would have brownies or some form of chocolate in the house at all times, I slowly cut myself off of eating any of it for months at a time. I still indulge every now and again of course, hehheheh I wouldn't dare give it up for life. LOL, I just don't eat it every few days like I was before. The second thing I gave up on a regular basis was bread, I LOVE bread and I always grabbed for it when I got home from work. It seems once I let go of it, after about two weeks, I stopped craving it. My weakness was also CARBS, I really don't care for chips or ice cream, just bread and pasta, so those are the BIG items I quick consuming for a long time, and it worked!! I have pasta maybe twice a month now and bread, just on a sandwich or if I go out for a nice meal once or twice a month. It was slow and steady, but it worked and now I don't miss them anymore. It's just a suggestion, maybe stop one thing at a time and see if that doesn't work for you. Don't ever go cold turkey, that works for no one! I know you'll do so well, your doing great so far. And I LOVE your picture!! Your an artist all the way!! so pretty! Good luck this week!! I'll be stopping by to check in
Kim

Hi Kim,

Thanks for the suggestion, because today I have been very good and very bad. I exercised for 27 min on the bike. Did some upper body lifting.

But then I ate half a cantaloupe followed by microwave popcorn.
I put butter on it.... oh sona is bad.... bad I tell you!
I have a thing for salty grease!

Dinner is going to be a cucumber I guess!
ok i deserve it!

So Kim I think I'm going to cut out the microwave popcorn with butter
for starters!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sona, I know I love microwave popcorn also, and my hubby buys that big box from Sam's club, because my twin sons LOVE IT, so it's always right there in my face when I open the pantry. But, as you will find later in your journey, you just slowly and I mean slowly learn discipline for those items that are the worst for you. I have to force myself to choose another snack instead and it's never easy, but..... I know how bad I want to be thinner and that always wins over eating a bag of popcorn for me. We are all different, so you may have to try another trick or motivation that works best for you. Maybe buy the light and only eat half of what your normally would. Try a butter substitute instead of really good butter. I know I hate using anything that's not the real deal, but unfortunately it's a good way of cutting back and cutting those calories. You know that "I can't believe it's not butter" spray is pretty good. I've given up on butter on MOST items now, and just use it every now and again and only about a tsp or 2 at a time. Remember it's just baby steps. Just don't stop the exercise that will help out things when your not having such a good eating day. Hang in there, tomorrow is a new day and you can start all over again. :) I hope you eat more than a cucumber for dinner, maybe a tossed salad with fat free Italian dressing would be good. That is the only dressing I can eat that's fat free, everything else taste like crap to me. LOL LOL Have a good evening!
Kim

GO SONA!!! your just rockin the pounds down. GREAT JOB!! You should be so proud!! I hope you drop another 1-2 this week. I have no doubt you will. GOOD LUCK!!
Kim

Kim you are so sweet to drop in and see me!
I tend to isolate myself:doh:

I was surprised about that pound because my eating wasn't the best (I did go with a salad rather than a cucumber that nite lol)

I did work out most days so I guess it balanced out!

Ok here's me and my husband Hawk Saturday night
we were going to dinner at my brother in laws house.

Why do I even ask him this?
He just runs out the door.

love it!!!! LMAO!! That's me and my hubby all the way. But, I just laugh after I ask him the question, because I know I've trapped him in a situation he will be squirming out of. LOL LOL What great pictures, WOW what an artist you are!!

Wow, I didn't even see these last posts
Hi Kim and Paul, thanks for stopping by.

Well I lost another pound and a half this week
So I'm down 5.5 pounds overall.

sona

great job Sona!! WOW that's just really good news! Are you watching calories? or is it mainly exercise?? What works best for you?? Or maybe it's a combo of both together, either way, it's just really good seeing it move on down. I hope you had a good weekend, did you go anywhere?:)
