small arms

I've always been average to small person. I'm now 47 and in pretty good shape. Even when I took martial arts my arms never got big. I want a little bit bigger arms. The rest of my body is in good shape. What can I do?
 
just do some heavy weightlifting. i added a lot of bulk to my arms by simply benching and curling every other day and making sure i get a nice protein and carb fill before/during/after my workout.

you need 3 things to maximize muscle building
carbs preferably simple like dextrose (promotes muscle building because its easiest to burn)
protein obviously because its what muscles are made of
water, and lots of it... your muscles need to be hydrated

if you like you can take about 5grams of creatine as a supplement which also promotes muscle building and protein synthesis... every bit helps.

also make sure you get plenty of sleep, rest is just as important as the workout itself... and only workout every other day.
 
A compound lift is a lift that incorporates more than one joint to perform. Read around.

No, a compound lift is a multi-joint movement, not multi-muscle (there are no single-muscle movements). Example: bench press is a compound movement because you use 2 axes of rotation, the elbow and shoulder. A chest flye is a single-joint movement because you use one axis of rotation, the shoulder (but still multiple muscle groups, in this case pectorals, anterior deltoids for concentric or lift phase and posterior deltoid and latissimus dorsi for eccentric or lowering phase).
