Slowly but surely...

Wow....been awhile since I updated. Had a few 'slow' weeks but broke the 300lb mark 2 weeks back and was 295 this past Friday. Getting there. Next goal is 281 which will make for a 50% weight loss.

Eh, what the heck. Boss is gone and work is slow today, I'll give a REAL update...two things mainly:

First, I made a somewhat impulsive purchase when I broke the 300lb mark...finally went and bought myself a harley. Got a smoking deal on a 2005 softail deuce w/ 1000miles and a metric ass-load of add-ons. Wasn't looking to spend the $$ but decided to treat myself for the last 19 months and 267lbs of hard work. Been riding every day possible since then...starting to get a bit frigid in the am, though. Not as tough as I used to be when I was younger and used to commute w/ a motorcycle exclusively (or maybe just the lack of 'insulation'?)

The other topic is on the amount people tend to comment on my weight loss lately. Don't know if it was when I passed a certain point that it's now 'acceptable' to mention or what but it seems that in the last 20lbs or so but now I get alot of questions and encouragement. It's rather motivating when people I haven't seen in awhile don't recognize me and can't believe the difference. There is, however, a sad commentary on society tied into this...about 50% of the time I'm asked if I had a gastric bypass or similar procedure. The look of disbelief when I tell them it was a crazy new program involving simply diet and exercise cracks me up. But how sad is it when a large portion of people 'assume' that you must have had help and there was no way you could've done it on your own?

:hurray: 288 this morning...that's 274 pounds lost, only 7lbs until I can officially say I've lost 50% of my body weight!

Really finding that as more weight comes off measurements are a better indicator of progress. Wish I had taken them from the very beginning (only have from like 425lbs on down). My weekly average for weight change is decreasing some but my change in measurements has increased as of late. Last week I managed 4lbs yet it was a 1/2 inch off my chest and a full inch from the stomach.

Wow.

I just read your entire story.

Holy inspiring batman. Your story is just AMAZING. I am so glad you did it without any kind of surgery. SO inspirational!!!

AWESOME job on keeping up with the exercise. You're doing GREAT. I'm just in awe at the amount you've lost and continue to lose at.

Keep it up :)

Figured I'd check in...slow day avoiding actual work!

Held 274 for the past two Fridays (although did have a small change in measurements this past week) so I guess I can't complain since it was over the holidays and my fat-kid ways took over for christmas!

Christmas was nice...the wife did something cool and got me an outfit from most of the stores that I have never (or not for a long, long time) been able to shop from. I'm now down to a 38 waist and between a XL and 2XL shirt and can REALLY appreciate being able to walk into most any store and pick up what I want off the rack. Not bad I guess since I was shoehorned into 58-60's and 6XL shirts when I started. I finally found an 'old' pic from not long after I started dieting so I need to make it a point to snap an 'almost-after' version.

I really wanted 262 by the end of the year for a total loss of 300lbs but it ain't gonna happen. I'll do an unofficial year-end tomorrow when I return from exercising (the gym's closed so I'll have to do a couple laps at the park and put some time in on the excercise bike at home) and might make 270 by my normal Fri weigh-in but I'm not counting on it. I'm in good shape to make it by my b-day on 2/15 and also make my original goal of 250 by the 2yr anniversary of starting my diet on 3/9/09.

Been awhile since I visited...just a quick update. Currently sitting at 244 (total of 318 lost since 3/9/07) and have been steadily ramping down on the cardio and bringing more weight training into my routine. I've also begun to add calories back to get closer to a 'maintenance' level. I'm still sub-2k per day M-F but wouldn't mind dropping a few more pounds. Finally located as close to a pre-loss picture as I think I have. If I get a chance I'll post it and a pic or two from my recent Vegas trip for comparison.

An interesting thing to note is that I've started running...something I NEVER thought I'd do. Before a couple of months ago I can say that I'd literally never run 1 mile in my life...not even in gradeschool. I'm still no marathoner but run a consistent 2 miles/day at a 9:31 pace after doing 20mins at 4.3mph and a 7-10% incline (start at 7 and up every 5 mins) and feel pretty good when I'm done.

EDIT: Posted pics here

240 as of this morning...brings my total to 322 lost. Really kinda surprised me as I've added a fair number of calories back into my diet. Difference is that for the past 1.5 weeks I've been running 5K-per-day. :coolgleamA:
