Slimming down before college!

My name is Jean. This is not my first account on the site. A few years ago, I had an account. I lost 80 pounds with a healthy diet, daily exercise, and the support I got on this site. Since then, I've gained 15 pounds back. My lowest (happiest) weight was 130 pounds. I now weigh somewhere in between 145 and 150 pounds. I'm 5'6, so I'm not really overweight. Just kind of unhappy with where my body is currently.. especially since I've seen just how slim and happy I can be.

My goal is to lose at least 15 pounds before I start cosmetology school in August. Since I'm only 20 years old, and I work in a really high-volume restaurant (I'm on my feet all night, every night), I don't think it will be that difficult. Plus, I'm a vegetarian. So, I don't have to worry about craving fast food. I know a lot of people struggle with that sort of thing, but fast food has always been out of the question for me. The only thing that's been standing in my way is me. I am my own worst enemy.

Anyway, I'll be posting here every single day. I know it's going to be super difficult for the first few weeks, so until I don't need the constant reminder, I'm going to force myself to make an entry every morning.

My plan is to consume somewhere around 1,200 calories a day and do some sort of exercise everyday. I am going to get a gym membership tomorrow. I'm thinking that since I'll be paying for it, I'll feel like I have to go. If for whatever reason I cannot get to the gym, I will find some other sort of activity to do. Even if it's just some light stretching. I really want to be more active.

Anyway. I'll be back tomorrow for my first real entry!

Welcome back! Sounds like you have a really good plan, can't wait to hear about your progress! Keep your chin up and believe in yourself! :)
Lots of love,
Az xx

Wow. That was not a pleasant number to see this morning. I'm sure that some of that number is due to water weight. I've been eating foods that are really high in sodium, so today and everyday, really, I'm going to drink as much water as I can. I'm curious to see how much that number comes down over the next few days.

Anyway, I just got back from a pretty long walk. I live on an island at the bottom of South Carolina, so I walked down to one of our beaches this morning. The beach I walked to has a pretty neat boardwalk, and at the end of it, it has a wooden tower. I climbed the top of that, looked out onto the water for about 5 minutes, and headed back. Overall, the walk took around 50 minutes, which isn't a bad number. It didn't really feel like a workout. I was a little sweaty when I got home, but I think that's just because it was so warm out. I'm planning on walking like this every morning, and I want to do it again some evenings. My boyfriend also wants to shed a few pounds, so on the nights that I don't work, I'll walk with him after he gets home from work.

I think that much walking/ jogging is going to be fine right now. Maybe I'll invest in a gym membership eventually, but I'm really satisfied with this kind of activity for right now. Plus, I don't have $70 to spare at the moment. Dumb gym membership fees. :/

Anyway, I'm going to hop in the shower. Today is a good day!

Awesome job on the previous weight loss and it's great that you're trying to not let it get out of control. Where are you from & where are you going to school? I go to Clemson.

I know seeing that number probably doesn't feel great, but it will feel even better when you reach your goal! :D

As far as the gym membership goes. If it's working don't fix it. Go a week without it and keep trying to do exercise everyday. If you see an improvement in your weight, then there isn't a need to get gym membership.

However there is something to be said about a gym membership. Firstly, it doesn't depend on the weather, rain or shine it's ready for you. Secondly, you can get a more comprehensive workout. Walking everyday is good, but being able to use the variety of cardio machines they have at the gyms is very helpful. Thirdly, you can meet friends at the gym that keep you committed! Having a gym buddy is probably the best thing if you're trying to get in shape. Both of you help each other in your commitments. But I guess your boyfriend could help you with that.

Anyways, good luck with your goal! Good to see you're committed to trimming down.
