Skyler's new diary

Skyler, sounds like you're doing great as usual! Yes, alcohol can definitely add to the bloating feeling, as well as extra cals, so definitely avoid that for a little while if you can. I think I'm also doing about 1500 per day plus exercising. I feel like I'm still loosing at about the same rate as when I ate 1200. Its like no matter what our bodies adjust... But being active definitely helps.

Congratulations on the wedding, again! We also had fun getting used to calling each other husband/wife. Being newlywed, it is such a great time to enjoy your partner and new marriage!

i guess so....but it is hard to think to eat more, lose more? i need to believe b/c i just kept plateau-ing and apparently that is why. i dont know what else to do but to try out what she says and get the cardio to where it was pre-wedding days.....

i also need to sack up and frickin weigh myself! i am being such a baby here, but i want to have a GOOD week of clean eating and no alcohol and lots of exercise & water before i do so (and that is going to happen starting next monday - hmmm that sounds bad....it should start TODAY),...okay, today it starts other than i know of some excursions this weekend that some wine will probably be involved....nothing new there. cant quit having and doing life. i tried that once & then the weight comes right back. moderation is the key. i know this. i can do this. starting today, i am back on track....

i know it isnt an immediate reaction when you overeat/drink for a couple weeks...and then get to healthy actions & eating again.....but how long do you think it will take to rid the bloating and see what i truly weigh????? (even though i know the scale lies)

A focused plan

Okay, I decided since I am officially getting back on the losing wagon today, I should set out my plans/goals, etc and hold myself accountable...as this worked for me in the past..so here goes.....

EXERCISE PLAN:
monday/thursday - pilates classes
tuesday/wednesday/saturday/sunday - cardio - running or elliptical for 45-60 minutes and alternate intensity, incorporate HIIT, and change programs OR plyometrics w/ 15 minutes of cardio
wednesday/saturday - circuit weight training with band/swiss ball
friday - OFF

NUTRITION PLAN:
*take my calcium and multivitamins daily
*water intake from 64 oz/day to 96 oz/day
*eat 1350-1550 calories & eat every 2-3 hours
*walk the dogs!! 20 minutes at minimum / day
*arm exercises daily /pushups/miniweight balls
*limit empty calories
*log every thing eaten/drank & exercise done into journal (separate from here)

Okay.....this will work......this must work........these pounds will be gone...........now i just have to weigh in one of these days to see my starting point...

holding myself to all the things above daily....i've done it before and i'm doing it again.

Sounds great! You'll do fine. Looks like a good plan to me. Drinking is very important to keep from being bloated, stay away from alcholol and salty foods and in a week all the bloating will go away.

You'll do great, I know!

thanks ntl! today was a great "day 1" refresher...calories were actually a little low at 1250. pilates was great. i had over 70 oz of water and my vitamins, walked the dog and feel pretty good. looking forward to another one tomorrow. :)

You only have 10 pounds left to lose? 4 ½ kilos? That's amazing!! You won't even know it going.. When we are on a diet for a while our bodies are on a losing mode quite a while after we start being a bit reckless.. Especially when our diet was gradual and not a fad.

Good job girlie :D

Hey Skyler I'm pretty sure you'll start loosing again after a good week of eating and drinking. I'm doing something similar to yourself next week and will be pushing myself a bit more than usual to see if I can get the last 12lbs off, though I've been stuck between 146.5 and 148.5 all this week! Will keep checking in to see how you're doing, maybe we'll wind up eating the same foods and stuff heh heh.:D

Sounds great crunchie....seeing as we are at about the same in terms of 'left to lose!' maybe we can help each other!! i feel great today. amazing how 1 day of exercising, eating right, sleeping, and being GOOD can make you feel revived and ready to take on whatever is next....it is only day 2 of my renewal but i feel good and ready to go! fridays are my day off from exercise...which usually works out that way b/c i am so busy on fridays for some reason.....however, i wish i didnt have this appt this afternoon so that i could exercise! i should remember this feeling for a day that i am having a hard time motivating!! anyways, i weighed in today. i just couldnt handle the ?? anymore..the truth is that i'd rather see what i gained & get it off than my original plan of being good for a few weeks and seeing if i am status quo from before italy (which truly had to have been impossible as i ate pasta everyday, lots of cheese, TONS of wine, even desserts - who can pass up tiramisu in ITALY!?? ;) )..my only saving grace is that we swam almost all week long, all day long and sweat alot and drank lots of water!

sooooo...the other part of the story is that i ate sushi yesterday (soy sauce usually makes me swollen the next day) and it is my TOM so I dont know if i was TRYING to make myself feel bad or if it was get that baseline again...i am making it the latter b/c feeling bad doesnt help you lose weight!

so, i am back to 143 as/of today. i am hoping a good chunk of that is from water retention, only 1 "good day" back in terms of exercise & food and TOM, but we'll see and i'm plugging along to get to my goal weight of 125 regardless so maybe i'll get lucky and this additional weight wont STICK too bad...

the good part is i am not totally beating myself up b/c Italy is still so fresh and was so wonderful, i wouldnt have changed a thing in the world for that....
(underlined so i dont forget when i start beating myself up in a couple weeks!!

so, now i work it off! wish me luck!! (now i am going to change my ticker) and check some diaries...

the other thing i realized is that it was 7 months of lifestyle changing (starting dec. 2005 til end of may 2006 and took june 2006 off due to multiple weddings including my own and honeymoon)....the point being, i was eating 1200-1300 calories and exercising a LOT and averaged only 2.5-3 lbs/month which isnt bad but isnt great either.....soooooooo i am going to listen to my nutritionist for once and try to really get in 1350-1550 calories as suggested and maybe that will help speed somethign along! regardless, if not, and i still lose 3 lbs /month, just to put it in perspective...18 pounds to go......that will be my goal reached in about 6 months....meaning NYE should be a big celebration! :D

Skyler, its ok, don't beat yourself up!!! First of all, I KNOW part of is is water and as soon as you get back on track, you'll shed some of that. Second, 3 lbs/month is actually not bad rate of weight loss. (Hey, I'm doing 1 lb/month now, and 3lbs/month sounds really awesome from where I am - he-he-he).
Because you and I are so close you the goal, it takes longer. You also have to think that slow weight loss = permanent weight loss!!! So there is no need to rush anywhere, especially since your health at this point is not in danger!

I think you should listen to your Nutritionist and do what she/he sais in terms of calories.

You have a great plan, and you'll succeed!

Hey skyler, thought I'd answer your question from my diary here in your diary. I've kind of had an epiphany this week...I've done plenty of 1200 and 1300 calories days and have lost it slow. However this week I've been doing a little experiment and have making sure I get a minimum of 1500 and I've already lost three pound this week. So I think 1500 is my magic number. I think anything less was putting my body in starvation mode.

I also walk on the treadmill 4 to 6 times a week and get in anywhere from 4 to 6 miles each session. The treamill has been great for me. This is the fittest I've been in my life EVER!!!

So that's what I've been doing. I know it sounds funny while trying to lose weight, but make sure you eat enough!!! And don't worry about gaining weight from your honeymoon. That's a once in a lifetime thing and you enjoyed yourself and that's the most important thing. You've got a very manageable amount of weight left to lose and you will do it. Hang in there, honeybun!!!

If you make healthy food choices, eat appropriate amounts, and stay active enough to maintain your fitness, your body will find its own natural weight and look. Your job is to do those things, and accept whatever the results turn out to be, appearance-wise. That's what will make you feel good about yourself, in the end. As long as you are trying to make yourself conform to something that isn't based on your own good health and fitness, nothing you do will ever be good enough, no weight will ever be low enough, and you will never feel good about yourself.

And that's not a fun way to live, is it?

some good advice from sparkpeople....that i wanted to share within my journal and remind myself and others when you are frustrated with the stupid scale!

thanks scarlett....always curious to see how people get to such great results...i am working on eating 1500 calories per day now as well - hopefully i have similar results to you as i do a lot of cardio! thanks for your info!!! & your kind words.....

Skyler! Where are you? I hope you are back tomorrow for the start of the challenge! Just stopping in to see how you are and to see if you are still looking for a weight loss buddy. I think I have one if you are. :D

Well, sorry I was MIA this weekend....at the beach with no computer access! Couple interesting things as/of Thursday last week. I weighed in this morning for the challenge and I am at 139 which is down 4 lbs from Thursday last week...so apparently all were right that TOM and water retention and not being "myself" lately was throwing the scale off. DEFINITELY a gain from the honeymoon but that is okay b/c I wouldnt have changed a thing and I am ready to get rid of it!! This weekend was good...averaged about 1600 calories/day and ran 4 miles on Saturday and walked 4 miles on Sunday. Been drinking lots of water and sticking to eating well....I'm ready for a great week this week!

HH, yes, I am still looking...I"ll check the other thread and PM you....THANKS!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Yeah, Awesome! That's ok, honeymoon is only once in a life time thing, so I'm glad that you enjoyed yourself to the fullest! And you can get rid of those few pounds in the weeks to come. Way to go on exercising, and I'm glad you're up on your calories! You'll get your metabolism revved up again!

skyler, let's put this in perspective....didn't you say you were 134 when you got married? And now that all your TOM and water weight is gone you are 139 pounds? So a five pound gain for a gloriously wonderful and exciting honeymoon. It's an easy price to pay, and will be just as easy to lose to get you back to your wedding weight. No worries, dear!!!! You're doing great.

yes scarlett, you are absolutely right. thank you for that. 5 lbs...just hopefully it doesnt take FOREVER to come off but i just have to try my best and exercise, drink water and eat right....and it has to come off eventually!

Hey skyler, I can only really echo what others have said and hope that the phantom 5lbs comes off again very quick. I'm glad you enjoyed your honeymoon though and can get back on track without any difficulty!

Enjoy your week!:)
