SkinnyKate's Diary

hey tru

grits are a 'southern delicacy' made from hominy. grits i guess cause they are gritty...Hominy is just corn with the hull and kernel removed. I DO love hominy! So they dry the hominy and grind it..and wa laa! grits! some people eat em plain. mama always made them with butter and sugar for breakfast.

its an aquired taste. i just used to hate to clean up after em, cause they stick like glue to the bowl.

Morning Kate!! Looks like you are doing great as always.. you're gonna be out of 150 in NO time! Grrr.. I can't catch up with you and Paula at this rate!! :p

Alas! ;) I am really excited for you! Oh how did the med swap-a-roo go? I didnt see any complaints posted so I assume it went well!

goood morning!

Starting off my morning great. No complaints at all! Was afraid of how Id feel when I woke up, but nothing bad. at all! I wound up splitting up my strong med, and it is working out perfectly..so far.

Will be walking in about an hour, and hopefully all will be well. Just trying to decide on what to have for breakfast. I need to be especially careful the next five days in my choices. Ive gotten into the habit of eating salty things at night(I had to say no to too much salt before my bp was under control) and Im retaining water pretty badly. DESPITE my big gallon of water every day. So gotta cut the salt if I wanna see any results.(pickles, salty popcorn, and soy sauce being the latest culprits:p)

Good Mornin' Kate:D Hope your walk went well! Salty things taste good don't they, but they sure do pack a water punch!! LOL I had to stop eating those myself.... I even started using a pinch of dill on things instead of salt to fool my tastebuds! LOL Have a great day Kate and keep up the good work. :D

Hi Kate! Missed you! I hear you about the salty stuff. I notice I'm all puffy in the morning when I eat too much salt. It's really bad, especially in my face. Do you notice that too?

well, because my bp is doing so well, i decided this morning to give it my all...speed walk.so Im speeeeding along, and other than lots of cramps in my legs Im doing great. I have to stop and stretch a lot because of the burn in the muscles around the shins...so Im bippity bopping along and outta nowhere this man is heading towards me. This isnt funny. He is probably my age, no workout gear, just jeans and sweater. I locked eyes as I passed him, thinking crap, at least if he is a rapist or something, Ill be able to identify him. He drily says hi, and i hi back. Now, I realize he has as much right as me to be on that road. Ive seen him walking around before. Aimlessly though. But why do men not get that this walking around during normal working hours is very disheartening to a woman walking alone!!

Ive decided that tomorrow, the pit is coming with me, along with my cell. I think I may also get my H to buy me some pepper spray. To add...just yesterday, as I was walking, some man had parked his SUV inthe woods, just before you get to the opening of the lake area, where there is a cabin to stop and pay before entering. He was laying in the back of it, and the only people for half a mile was him, and me....andthe cars going past..so I wasnt TOO worried....

this REALLY sux too, because if I go the other way, I have to deal with dogs not on leashes...dam dam and DAM.

Taking the dog and the cell sounds like a good plan to me. Where I live we have really nice walking paths, but its heavily wooded and despite living in a relatively low crime area, bad things have happened on those paths. They are just very isolated at some points. I will take my dog with me sometimes, but he's not a good walker, so its a bit of a pain and distraction to say the least. I always take my cell though. It just makes me feel more secure. I hope everything turns out ok with your walking route. Would stink to have to alter routes when you have one you really enjoy.

My husband has chronic high blood pressure. He has to change his medication up every once in a while too. He hates it because it means extra trips to the doctor for blood tests and what not. Not his favorite thing to do. I am just thankful it can be controled with medication.

Hope the rest of your day goes well! :)

My plan needs to change I think. I need to add some more walking because I am noticing a plateau coming on. Mostly in my inches and such. Soo, I cant really lower my calories, but I CAN increase my walking. My goal is to walk four miles tomorrow if not more. I even thought about skating once I get down there to the big parking lots, but wont decide until tomorrow. Depends on how much time I have.

I can just tell that as I get faster and better, my body adjusts, and I need to mix it up some. So hopefully speed and adding more time will jostle my body into overdrive.

Kate, that sounds like a really good plan to start mixing it up! :) Ever though tof throwing in some "jogging" in there to pick up thes peed? like little intervals? Not sure how that iwll effect your BP :)

hey there!

i do jog in spurts, but its not enough. gotta make my legs stronger to get it to do any good. I dont know, i just feel i knowwhen my body needs something new.
