HeY Kate! :) Keep up the great work! :) All your walking, has got me in gear with walking my dogs more, and even taking my FH trail hiking! So you're a good motivator for me and him!!

As for power bars, I agree some of them do have a wee bit too much sugar, but I happen to like the ones you mentioned. I also like Luna bars, which aren't exactly "protein" bars but they're still yummy. Also as a gift for my brithday this week my sister (who is ALSO dieting) sent me a care pkg, with the Special K bars that have chocolate drizzel for only 90 calories!! :) Not to mention the 10 calorie snack pkgs of popcorn!! :)

Keep up the great work! Can't wait to hear how your week turns out!
 
I feel fantastic! Other than mornings are slow due to too low BP. I find that once I get moving it gets normal though. or close to normal. still somewhat low. I have lost a lot of my bad moods when my bp was high, so thats a big plus!

Yeah, the protein bars are really high sugar, but its my way of treating myself without the guilt that a snickers would bring on. or a zero bar. or a mars bar.

Ok thats enuff*slaps self silly*
 
Hehe Kate you crack me up girl!! :) Jus tbe careful to eye that sodium intake, i.e. BP, but you have to already know that one! :D I really hope with your weight loss it'll get straightened out for you!
 
Hi Kate :) Your doin' great! I like walking here in the summer. We get the breeze from the lake on both sides and it's nice and cool when it hits ya :D SUmmer is one of the few seasons I really like to be in the islands due to nice sun, warm but not hot, and nice cool breezes :D

As for how the veggies are cooked at ANY restaurant, ask them how they cook em'. I have to. I get really sick if I get too much grease and I would rather know where that greases is coming from so I can prepare for it if need be. :rolleyes: I also ask how they cook fish and chicken - grilled doesn't always mean without fat or with less fat.

Keep up the good work! You are definitely an inspiration :cool:
 
Hey Girl! You are doing a great job with the exercising and eating well. I am so jealous. I wish I could go with you to do the stairs at the lake! :)

Oh, almost forgot to ask! Have you tried those Pria bars? They are supposed to be good.

yeah ive tried them but dont like themtoo much. My all time favorite also happens to be the most cals in it. Meso-Tech peanutbutter and choc. Says it also keeps my testosterone levels up and normal...GOOD THING I DIDNT EAT ONE OR ID BE TALKING LIKE THIS! LOL

Mmm, I like eating power bars in place of candy bars too. I love the Atkins bars, especially the chocolate coconut ones. Just wanted to check in on you and say thanks for being so supportive in my journal. "sneeze" haha

I was looking at you Avatar, just wanted to say you are too cute. I just love your red hair. I've tried in vain to get my hair that color and never can, it washes out within a week.

its the scottish in me apparently. Found out that is where my kids got it. But see, that pic was just a box of the stuff. Im as gray as an old mare, blast it all. Seriously, My sis and I stopped at a cool Scottish store, which had books and such on heritage. Seems we are so scotch we ought to be drinking it!(ew no, i hate scotch)

On to other pressing matters. Weigh in today. Yep, I weighed in on the ooolll scale. yep yep..*stretch*... *yaawn* ........

ONE FIFTY TWO DAMMMIT!!!!! that is a ten pound goal, thank u very much! Man I busted my hump for that.

that is also a 3 pound loss since last Monday. Gotta change ticker. I am a happy girl.

Congrats on losing 10 pounds Kate! That is awesome! I am so looking forward to reaching that goal myself. Keep up the great work! :)
 
wanted to write the good and bad of what Im noticing now that ten pounds are gone.

1. Im losing my double chin. Noticed it in the daylight.thats good.:)
1a. Im noticing this scary chicken neck wrinkled thing in its place. thats bad.:mad:

2.Im losing a little on the inches. thats good!:)
2a. Im losing them in my breasts. thats bad::mad:

3. Its getting easier to choose foods that are good for you. good:)
3a. Im sooo tired of turkey, I think that chicken neck is really a turkey neck. thats baaad:mad:

4.Im realizing more each day that this can be done for life. thats good.:)
4a. Im realizing I can never go back to the way things were. thats scary:eek:

5. I noticed my butt doesnt rub the steering wheel as I turn to get out of my car. good:p
5a. I noticed that losing weight doesnt make me taller. Still cant reach the gas at anything less than the closest notch on the chair. thats frustrating.:rolleyes:

6. I feel so much better. Im really proud of my hard work. that is good!
6a. I still feel guilty if I indulge a little. I shouldnt. I am progressing. I need to take life's punches, and keep MOVING. so bad on the guilt. Working on it.guilt is bad

Congrats on that 10, Kate! :D Great job! On your list of good/ bad, isn't it nice to know that for once in life, the good out weighs the bad ?!:D Way to go, keep it up;)
 
I wanted to share this recipe I made up

Bruschetta and toast its just one serving.

chopped roma tomato
tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic salt
cracked pepper to taste
two tsp feta cheese chopped fine
a spray of cooking oil spray
oregano or italian seasoning
tsp half fat parmesan cheese.(I like the grated more than the powdery kind.
mix together.
Put broiler on.
You can use either baguet (sp?)bread(hard crusted french bread)
or a pita half

put the tomato mixture on the bread or pita, and broil just 2 or 3 minutes. YUM!
