Sick of bad gym etiquette!

My number one gripe at the moment is people standing way too close to me, I had one guy last week who somehow manage to stand with his legs either side of my bar in between deadlift sets, wtf? At what point could he have thought that was a good place to stand?

The smell people can give off is awful too, I love people sweating while lifting but some smell like they use the same gym gear every day, like it's unlucky to wash their jock strap or something, it can make you feel sick

And people who seem incapable of putting weights back get me so pissed off, how difficult can it be to put things back where you got them from?

lmao....Hail the home gym! :D

yet one more reason why I just can't get myself to go to a gym and had to build one....lol

1) How do you know they been to teh toilet, not washed their hands and come back? Do you follow them? If so then you're just weird! ;)

Yeah, I did. The guy was in the Sh**er too. Just left through the door and I found him pushing away on the benchpress.

yeah, H1N1 anybody? or just plain anything.

I lift and don’t touch my face until after I wash the hands.

I just wanted to slap the guy. Big 'ol theatrical wrester slap with the foot stomp.

funny, lol!

Well I don't think that any of the more serious weight lifters are going to be mean or laugh at me, lol .. but I am more concerned with going in there and looking like a clueless fool, which is what will happen. I hoped to take my hubby with me ONE time to show me what exercises to do on each machine in the free weight room, and I know I would be fine after that. I am just intimidated to go in there and start moving parts around, probably the wrong way, lol.

I can see how it would be intimidating. Yeah, bring hubby or a buddy, once you get the feel of things all that intimidation just goes away. I always try to behave myself and help others that are new, lots of lifters are that way.

Some guy was on the bike without adjusting for his leg length the other day. I showed him how to do it real quick and quite. it happens

I def grunt at the gym, usually only with squats, deads, bench. It really helps when squeezing those last 2 out.

And I do agree with the bathroom thing too but it's not like people are scraping **** out of their ass with their bare hands and not washing them. I don't get too bothered when people do things like that, I just wash my hands or take a shower before I eat/touch my face/leave the gym.

Here is one that freaks me out. The guys who fill the sink up with water to shave. They dip their razor into the water to rinse off the shaving cream and stubble. Dude, somebody probably just spit in that sink or shot a rocket, gross!!! Shaving like that is fine at home but in a public gym!!

I’m sorry if you are one of these guys but in my opinion it’s just wrong.

I was thinking today, how happy I am to be using the women's locker room, lol. I was thinking I bet those guys spit loogies in the showers, glad I don't have to worry about stepping into something slimey, lmao

I agree with that, sometimes there are a few guys 'grooming' themselves in the mirror and that takes up all the wash basins. I've had to wash my hands in a shower before!

And also, and this only seems to be the fat old guys, but some people seems to like to stand completely naked and dry them themselves with the hair driers! WTF? Is this common? I've seen so many men doing it and it's just weird

Spitting is the least of your worries in mens showers. To the guys reading this, if you piss in the shower, everyone in the locker room can smell it and they know it's you!

Taking a piss, COME ON!!!

We have about 12-16 basins in our locker room. I leave my basin as I found it, but some guys will shave and leave a bunch of shaving cream, with their wiskers, in the sink AND around the counter....they just walk away and leave the mess! Disgusting...it sits there until the janitorial staff gets to it. Nothing worse then having another guys personal 'whatever' get in your space.

2 weeks ago I had an interesting experience. Close to the pool is a small one-stall bathroom (sink, toilet)...just a quick-service room in a hallway just off the pool. Nearby are massage rooms and the ladies/therapist or their clients often use that bathroom.

So as I enter the hallway that leads to the bathroom I hear the toilet flush in the little bathroom (announcing that someone is in there). As I approach the bathroom the door opens and out steps one of the senior massage therapist (she's about 50 years old, very proper and professional looking)...she gives me a quick nervous smile as she walks away. As I enter the bathroom the nervous smile is explained: she used the toilet and left that paper-overlay ring on the toilet!!!

How can anyone use a paper overlay ring....go to the bathroom, flush the toilet and just leave it there???? Disgusting!!! Since I heard her flush the toilet, I know she used it...either she's the culprit or (unlikely) she hovered over the ring when she used it....or maybe she just washed her hands and did something where instead of throwing the waste in the waste-can, she threw it in the toilet and flushed. Not likely on that last call.

I really wanted to report her to the managment. It's lousy when a gym member does such a thing, but when a gym staff member does it???? I just didn't want her to be upset with me so I didn't say anything, but I'm sure she knew that I walked in to her left-behinds. At least she flushed.
