I am 24, married for 9months, no children yet and am studying for an MSc at the moment but going to graduate soon and will need some nice work clothes and don't want to wear tents. Also want to get healthier before starting a family as I imagine myself running around with my future kids.

I have been overweight since I was 4 and now really want to do something about it because 20years of excess weight must have already put a lot of srain on my body. Up to now I am lucky and have no health problems at all.

So I am 5'9'' and weight about 260lbs(I don't have scales, really need to get some). I wear a size 20(UK size so that's probably 16/18 in US). I don't have a certain target weight but want to for now take slow steps towards getting under 200lbs.

I am trying to follow slimming world food optimising but I don't have the cash to go to the meetings because I am spending that money on gym where I swim for half an hour to one hour at least 3 times a week. I also walk lots as my classes are about 2.5miles away from my house.

My normal day looks like this(food wise)
breakfast: 40g fruit and fibre cereal topped up with chopped fresh or canned fruit and 1% fat milk
lunch: varies a lot: on a good day rice or couscous with veg and perhaps quorn(soya) sausages, on a bad day a cheese and bacon toastie
dinner: any normal maincourse: sometimes the usual veg+meat+potatoes, sometimes pasta with sauce etc.

So this doesn't sound too bad but I snack, mostly during lunch and dinner or after dinner: in summer mostly ice cream, in winter hot cakes etc.

I will post my food diary every day now. It would be great if people could comment on it and give me hints on how to improve.
