should i start weight lifting

you can start lifting at the age. Studies have shown that as long as you are using extreme loads (weight) and your technique is good, you're fine.

I WOULD suggest, if you belong to a gym, seeing if a trainer will show you the proper way to do the exercises. You can really hurt yourself if you do things wrong!

Mehuligan,
lifting weights or working out in general is great for your health! It's not going to make you grow taller.

If you don't belong to a gym, do a lot of researching on the 'net on proper form of exercises.

Body weight exercises are a great start, and will probably show you some good, fast results.

Things like pushups, pullups, running up hills, crunches, jumping up onto benches, carrying heavy stuff (not too heavy).

All things that you can do at a local playground.

You may want to simply start here and see how that works!

Don't want to work out because youre the shortest kid in class. Who cares about that! Work out because it's good for you!
:)

Try not to even use weights. Your young so stick to just playing outside and sweating alot.

Eat everything you can and dont start wieght lifting until summer before your freshman year in highschool. Then jump in to wrestling and you should buff up real quick. I wish I would have jumped into some sort of sport freshman year... instead I took ART. But my kid brother took wrestling and it buffed him up real good.

The reason why I tell you not to wieght lift now is because if you lift alot, it will stunt your growth. You wont grow much taller, but you will grow out. But that may not be such a bad thing, short wrestlers are like stumps.
