Should I be concerned about my max?

I wouldn't max that often. As a powerlifter, we barely do 1RM. We had strength test all this week, then we have 2 competitions where we do 1RM (obviously). Other than that, we don't have routines where we do 1RM.
 
A one rep max only really matters in powerlifting. The majority of the human race need to be concerned with output over a sustained period, such as lifting shingles to the roof, hauling floor tiles into the house, shoveling snow, cutting grass, bringing the wife her potting soil, etc.
