Shannon's Journal

there are 100s of them on the web... and they all pretty much rely on the usda food database... it's the interface that you want to be comfortable with and is easy for you to use.

Keep in mind that you can also enter custom foods - that if a food you usually eat isn't on tehre - you can add it...

So started using fitday.com today and exercised yeah!!!

I did 60 minutes on the treadmill at 3.5 mph with 1 minute 5.5 mph spurts mixed in. Completed 3.71 miles in that 60 minutes. I am going to keep up with the 60 minutes and see keep track of how far I can do in that time =)

Tracking my calories was definitely what got me off my first plateau, when I was about 25 lbs heavier. Unfortunately that stopped working as I got closer to my goal weight. I'm still fighting my way out of this damn plateau. It is HARD. But you can do it!

How many calories are you aiming for a day?

I am aiming for 1500...someone suggested 1200 but I think that is too low. I wish there was a magic book that just spelled it all out for you. Instead it seems like everyone has a different opinion or suggestion.....its hard to decide what is right and wrong lol.

Best plan is to eat as many calories as possible while still dropping weight. So maybe try 1800 for a week and see if that works. If not, then try 1500. I personally see no need to start with 1200 at this point, and I know I myself can never survive on so little without being very cranky.
