Shani's Diary

1300 is a little low, try to get more days in at a higher level... the reason being a- few months into this expedition you might (or might not experience a plateau) if that happens, the usual course of action is to adjust calories -when you're at 1300 calories you don't have a lot of wiggle room...

Thing more of aiming for a level of about 10 calories a pound...

Sucks about your friend... that's really harsh - just moving out... really wonder what was going on in his head that prompted something so drastic... Hope they both are ok...

Hi there,
I just wanted to thank you for stopping by and saying hello in my diary. I'm very sorry to hear about what happened to Your friend. Im glad she has you for support.

Styx wow - I saw them way way way back in high school during the paradise theater tour... have fun :D

Well last week was difficult....both Dave and I were down with some stupid bug and I havent been around (though it doesnt really look like anyone noticed). I didnt get to get to the gym, but at the end of the week I still managed to get down two more pounds.

Back at the gym today....kinda felt like I had to start over at first. I managed my 3/4 mile and upped my weights from 2 reps of 8 to 3 so Im kinda proud. I wasnt able to do the bike though I just didnt have it in me...hopefully tomorrow

atta girl for the steady progress - even whilst under the weather :D

well done on the 3/4s of a mile.. and upping your reps... that's awesome :D you should be proud of yourself :)

its been awhile but I'm back at it. below is what I posted in my other journal but just to catch things up so that it makes sense:

in March I pulled my achilles and tore a ligament in the same ankle, Dr told me no activity for 8 weeks, went back for a check up still hadnt healed so was not cleared for exercise. The first of August I fell and repulled the same achilles, and sprained my other ankle (that I had broken late last year).

August the 15th I (and my hubby) stopped smoking, we were both two pack a day smokers and neither of us has smoked in almost 8 weeks. My ankles appear to have healed faster this time (due to the no smoking?) so tomorrow I head back to the gym :)

anyway, thats an update, here is my entry for today

because Im a non smoker now and surely my excercise experience will be different!! right?

ok, so since I quit smoking I have gained the dreaded weight, I have gained 12 pounds in almost 8 weeks (yes friends this coming friday it will be 8 weeks since I had my last smoke).

When I messed up my ankle in march I had to stop exercising, they told me 8 weeks recovery it actually took over 12, THEN the first part of august I fell and sprained the ankle I broke last year and repulled my achilles that I'd pulled in March (fortunately I didnt re tear the ligament)

Some how not smoking has helped me heal faster and Im clear to start up again.

I have still been drinking my water as part of my stop smoking regiment and I have REALLY been trying to watch what I eat, my stop smoking munchies have been veggies ( cucumbers, bell peppers, celery) cut up and kept at work and at home. I still have chocolate but in no more quantity that I was before. I guess what they say about stopping smoking and your metabolism is right lol

I just weighed, Im at 224

Tomorrow I go back to the gym and pray my ankle doesnt give me trouble and that I can actually get some good cardio in

I guess we'll see how this goes

Congratulations on 9 pounds loss and your great efforts to work out and keep up a deficit. By the way, your measurements are way smaller than mine, despite the difference in weight. My waist is 44, thighs 29, so you must be quite toned for your weight, or else you're just a young thing!

So last week I spend all my gym time doing cardio to try to build back up and boy was it tough *whew* I could tell a big difference though now that Im not smoke (plus I dont smell nearly as bad as I'm pouring sweat lol)

Yesterday I added the weights back...just a little but did I add them back. I did 2 reps of 8 at 20 pounds on the arm machines, a 1/4 mile on the eliptical, 3/4 mile on the tread and for the first time after a work out I felt really good, in that Im gonna puke any second and I cant catch my breath kinda way. I dont think I've ever felt that good after deliberately trying to kill myself lol

My arms are really mad at me today, it hurts to even type lol

Well alrighty then....

Im diabetic....who knew

long story short, health fair screening at work 2 weeks ago led to getting a lot of tests by my doctor. My A1C is 8.2, I am now on medication and having to poke myself and bleed on a stick

yay me

maybe this explains why, when Im doing 30 minutes, at least, of cardio 4 times a week and walking 3 miles the other 3 days on a nature trail, that I've gained 21 pounds!!! grrrr
