Scarlett's Diary - Tomorrow is another day

It's taken me over a year to get to my halfway to goal point. I got sick last summer and had to have surgery which took several months from which to recover. I plateaued through the whole ordeal which was a little disappointing. I would have thought I would have lost a lot of weight since I wasn't eating alot. But no. :(

So in January I was determined to get back on course and it's taken me several months to develop a good routine that I'm comfortable with. And now I'm seeing results again.

I'm counting calories, aiming for 1600 or less. I do the treadmill 3 to 5 times a week, and I'm doing anywhere from 4 to 6 miles at a time (burning 400 to 600 calories). I've added some crunches and tricep exercises as well.

So that's where I'm at. As of this morning I've lost 38.2 pounds and have 36.8 to go. I started this whole process on October 11, 2004. So my aim is to meet my goal before October 11, 2006.

So many of your stories have been inspirational and I thank you for taking the time to share them with the rest of us. It is such a motivation and I know that I'm the type of person that I can't do this alone. I have more success being a part of a community with similar struggles and ultimately achievements!! You know that whole "it takes a village" thing!!!;)

So a big thank you to everyone!!!! :D

Hooray for you for starting a journal! 37 lbs in 4 months is definitely doable, but you're gonna have to work hard for it!! Don't worry though, we're all here to cheer you on :D

Doing great so far! You are right this is a wonderful place to get support! It also helps to keep us all accountable...:D

Keep up the great plan!

Thanks mum!!! Very sweet of you to say.

and jellybelly, I was just reading your diary today, we must be on the same brainwave. And I do drink my water, in fact I don't drink anything else. You are so right about that.

Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend too!!!!

Thanks for dropping in on me hun. Wow you have done so well already. Your past the ½ way point, you must be so proud of yourself.

Wow! You are already over the halfway point! Just keep a' truckin'! Weeks fly by SO fast. and before you know it it will be October, and you will have reached your goal! You can do it! (I feel like Rob schnider from waterboy now:D )

Jelly Roll, that is so funny!!! When I read that part, I read it in his voice too!!! I love that!!!

Thanks rosered!!! I think I am a little proud of myself now. Those first 40 pounds I was really hard on myself. And now that I'm over the halfway hump I feel so much more encouraged.

Isn't it funny how when we see progress it's easier to stick to it? But in the beginning you have to put in so much work without seeing results in order to get the momentum going. And that can be so discouraging and hard to stick to.

One thing I've learned is that you have to get through that initial period where you are conditioning your body to accept and react to healthy foods and exercise. For some people it takes weeks and for others (like me) it really takes months. And then one day things just click and you start reaping the rewards by seeing that scale move.

Lol, I had the same thing happen to me Scarlett. It took 5 weeks of "good behaviour" before I was rewarded with a lowering scale. I've stalled a few times since then, but not for more than a couple of weeks thankfully. It just takes patience, even once you do get going :)

Well, yesterday I was out all day shopping with my mom. I did do the treadmill before we went out, but I imagine I must have burned more calories than just that because we walked ALL DAY LONG!!! We left at 9:30 in the morning and did not get home till 11:00 at night.

Yesterday's Calories

Ate = 1722
Burned = 308
Net = 1414

The scale showed a 6/10 of a pound loss this morning even though I exceeded my 1600 intake limit. Phew!!!

You probably did burn heaps of calories shopping, good on you for doing the treadmill as well!

Wow what a long shopping day!:D

You've come so far, that's awesome! I hope to be like that one day.
To quote my mom,'You go girl!'. Ok, she got it from Oprah, but its funny when she does it. :D

Shopping is a fun way to get exercise especially if you are one who puts things on hold and checks out other stores and goes back and forth between stores. When you factor in trying on clothing that to does burn calories. The only time it's not fun is during the holidays to busy.

Keep doing what you are doing you are doing great.

Hi everyone and thanks for stopping by. And yes, it was a fun day. I got some great stuff.....shoes, makeup, a cute hat, lots of new candles, some gifts for upcoming weddings and stuff. Did try on some clothes but didn't buy anything...but good to know that burned some calories too!!!!

Hope y'all have a great day!!!!! And thanks for the encouragement. Talking to you all has really helped me stay focused. I look forward to coming here every day to see what you all have been up to!!! :D

Yesterday not so good calorie-wise or exercise-wise....I was really tired from the previous day's shopping!!! :D But I guess that's a really good tired.
